He got home after everything Jason had said to him.
He looked up at his mate, Lisa, only to discover that she was. Before they finally got married. Lionel was still very much in love with Maya and Lisa knew about it.
He had never once hid his feelings about Maya from anyone. He only got married to Lisa to make Maya jealous , but that never happened. Rather, she moved on fine without him. She didn't even care how he felt or what he was feeling. That was how cruel Maya became. But still, that didn't stop his feelings for her.
When he heard the fact that Maya was mated to Alpha Jason, he did not believe it. Not after he asked a close friend in Maya's company if he discovered it was true Maya was mated to Alpha Jason. His anger at that moment couldn't be dissipated because Alpha Jason was his. He felt like he was being betrayed by his own friend.
