Once they got back to their hideout, they carefully studied the cover of the book, as if by doing so, they would magically decipher its secrets. After wiping off the dusty layer, they could make out some words written in a language they did not recognize. The pages of the book were blank.
"Well, there goes nothing," Li Luo raised her hand to her forehead in exasperation.
"Well, I could check with the local library later to see if this matches any language records in their archives." With his sharp memory, he had already committed the cryptic symbols to mind. "Are you okay? The attack from earlier..."
Li Luo grumpily assured him, "I'm fine." When she saw that he looked unappeased, she continued. "The attack itself wasn't lethal. This world just has a magnified soul-to-body injury threshold."
"Oh, how so?" He was intrigued.
