Chapter 50 - Biggest Winner

"Is it done?" Bai Qing asked out loud, even though there was no one in sight. She was dressed in light yellow clothing, her hands adorned with prayer beads. Her eyes glimmered, peering through the soil to 'see' the node laylines of the blood formation which was secretly crafted by the Myriad Conglomeration Sect to gather all the resentful souls and bloodshed over this period. Her hands were raised, shimmering with a deep golden light that extended over the region. Deep within, one could see the countless ethereal resentful souls get purified, slowly but steadily.

A hooded figure materialized beside her. "The Myriad Conglomeration Sect was destroyed. Not a single disciple escaped"

"Good" Bai Qing had no pity for power hungry sects that had no qualms utilizing heretic means to climb to the top. She had even less sympathy for the stupid ones who thought themselves smart and stealthy enough to carry out their nefarious plans in private, at the expense of human lives.

The 'smart' plan conceived by the now destroyed sect was easily deducted by an elder of her sect. At this critical moment, it was not unknown for the more desperate to go to extreme measures, so the demon attack was quickly noticed and closely investigated. Taking the mission from her sect, the Blissful Paradise Sect, she came as quickly as she could and spent a while tracking the demonic formation node, in a bit to rely on her cleansing art to solve the problem. With her "Buddha Blessing Sutra Halo", she pacified the resentful souls, no doubt killing two birds with one stone, increasing her cultivation base as well as her reputation.

As a matter of fact, heroes all over the continent consciously went out of their way to boost their reputation. No doubt, her present actions would push her ranking forward a bit in the makeshift "Heroes List" compiled by the relevant authorities.

A while later, the formation crumbled, utterly destroyed. The impact pushed the blood underneath to the surface, and it gushed all over the soil, becoming the only evidence left of the whole fiasco.

The figure beside her hesitated, then spoke. "Although most of the purity is lost, we can still utilize the bloodied soil to plant certain herbs, like the Blood Soaking Herb"

Bai Qing hesitated for two bits, then crossed her fingers, conjuring a flaming giant hand that covered the bloodied region, evaporating the blood off the soil. "Not very effective, but it'd do" She muttered to herself. However, despite trying to negate the soil's value, she knew it was still rich enough in nutrients for herb growing, and she had no doubt that her sect would send someone later to take over the land to cultivate specific herbs that thrived in such environments. She stifled the diabolical guilt she felt at the moment, torn for a split moment between righteousness and realism.

"Let us go" She gestured to the figure, a personal subordinate from her own clan. Large sects were heavily populated with geniuses from smaller clans, all with their own personal interests, and it was not unheard of for some of them to allocate private subordinates to them for protection and support.

The figure opened his storage ring and brought out a medium sized flying ship. Throwing in several spirit stones in the fuel compartment, he boarded it with his mistress, and it was flying towards the horizon a moment later.

Somewhere below, not far away from them, a small shiny black mouse came out of its hiding spot warily and sniffed. Its expression widened as it measured the amount of blood left in the soil.

This rat was known as the "Soil Eating Mouse", and it was known for consuming spiritually rich soil. The catch was, the more qi-rich soil it consumed, the larger and stronger it became, activating its bloodline and tapping into all sorts of powerful Earth spells and techniques. It turned out that it became the biggest winner, as it was fully capable of consuming all the earth present before any of the sects or clans sent reinforcements. Even better, it was practically blood soaked and consequently of more quality, especially in activating its bloodline.

With thoughts of graduating from a tiny scared mouse to becoming a dominator of the region, it opened its mouth and leaped into the soil joyfully.
