The Kong Family was closely linked to the imperial palace. For several generations, their descendants had held special positions in the dynasty.
They were famed for their intellectual prowess, so they held important positions in managerial and administrative positions in the dynasty.
In Kong Xiang's earlier years, his grandfather, Kong Yu held the role of Imperial advisor. The clan was flourishing then and possessed immense strength both in position and cultivation. The emperor of the dynasty and Kong Yu were very close friends, and their relationship was very cordial.
Unfortunately, the clan was wiped out by the Queen after the death of His Majesty, in a bid to wipe out every possible competitor for the throne. The Kong Clan, despite its low-key nature, was the first among the list of people condemned to extermination.
The 12-year-old Kong Xiang was among the young descendants sent away secretly by Kong Yu to ensure the Kong bloodline did not end. Before sending them off, he sealed their meridians and bloodline to avoid detection. That was the last time Kong Xiang saw him, as he and the rest of the clan were charged with treason and killed.
There were 10 of them, with ages ranging from 12 to 14. As the age to start cultivation was 15 (after the puberty process), none of the kids possessed any cultivation and so could hide among the commoners. To avoid being caught, they split and hadn't seen each other since. Being used to comfort and opulence, he barely survived a week on the streets. His years of observing administrative protocols and strategies, cultivation knowledge, none of it was of much use in the commoner's world, and he would only draw attention if he wanted to utilize any of it properly. Fortunately, he glanced at Li Luo as he thought about this, he was lucky enough to receive some help. Together, they made this dilapidated shack in the woods and made a living for the next four years doing taxing jobs here and there.
His sealed meridians prevented him from starting cultivation, but the cleansing from the sphere undid every seal in place and fixed his body to the most perfect state. He had only missed a year of cultivation, being 16 now. As a boy whose family was exterminated unjustly, how could he not seek revenge. In the solitude of hammering metals, every strike was made with thoughts of hatred for the Queen and the people involved. In fact, the only thing that kept him going was the faint hope that fortune may find him one day and give him the chance to take his revenge.
The golden sphere had done that, destroying the seal that both restricted and protected him. After fiddling with the sphere, he discovered that seemed to be the only function he could activate. If he could enter the Soul Embryo Stage, he would gain Soul Sense and be able to study the seal in detail and hopefully activate more functions.
While lost in thoughts, another shimmering light caught his notice. Unlike the faint golden colour earlier, this was deeper, the golden light giving off a more imperialistic aura. His first thoughts were that it was from the sphere, but somehow he could sense it wasn't. It was coming from Li Luo, whose eyes were closed. She stretched her hand and tapped swiftly on his glabella. Kong Xiang instantly fell into a trance. Unintelligible characters written in golden lights etched themselves into his soul. Slowly, they came together and finally combined into a string of words.
