"He is Tang Ling, one of the Grand Elders of the Tang clan." Hell-Flame said. Jake managed to understand the severity of the situation from this. He had been acquainting himself with the structure of the clans within the Heavenly Demon Cult for a while now. The structure is different everywhere.
The seven families in particular follow a rigid old-style structure of clans in which there is a clan/family head along with a bunch of Grand Elders supporting him/her to carry out the duties of the clan. Every Grand Elder is a force to be reckoned with because these in some cases includes the previous clan heads as well along with other members who were in the running to be clan head in current and previous generations.
A rough estimate even projected that each of these Grand Elders was possessing strength similar to the clan head. That is the reason the families were a force to be reckoned with.
