Chapter 16 - THE OCCULAR SKILL, THE PILLS AND CULTIVATION LIQUID, LEVEL-5

Jake went back to the mountain and began to go through the rewards he had recieve after killing the people.

"Combat Mission

Status: Success.

Rewards are being granted."

Jake Grant

Level-4

Strength:27

Endurance: 27

Agility:27

Mana:17"

"An Occular Skill has been granted

Occular Skill: Wolf eyes.

The eyes of a wolf is far superior to a normal person in both being able to see to a distance and with clarity. An additional benefit is the scope of vison which is twice as large as the host's normal condition along with the ability to see in dark.

Skill: Auto-functioning

Type: Growth till the threshold is reached."

When Jake activated the skill he could feel a weird itch in his eyes, before his entire eyesight seem ed to have widened and he could see much clearly to a far of distance.

Jake couldn't believe this phenomenon and tried to test things out on far objects and to his surprise he was accurate every time.

"This is a great skill." Jake had gained another skill in his arsenal. With this he has a much better chance in a fight.

"There is still a bit more than. a week left before the selection test. I need to prepare well. The financial problem is completely taken care of. I need to find a secluded location to test out my combat techniques and improve my martial arts." Jake said to himself.

He began training and finsihed a mana training mission with the Intermidiate breathing technique. His mana stat increased by 1.

After that came the regular body refinning mission and movement skill training mission.

"Body Refinning Mission: Basic body refinning

The host has almost reached the threshold to breakthrough the body limits and enter the path of body cultivation.

Objective: Complete 200 rotation of 104 moves of Taoist.

Reward: Strength +1."

Jake was getting frustrated because combat missions provided much better reward than these training missions.

He continued to perform them one rotation after another. It continued and eventually, Jake decided to take a short break began of being bored. He the. resumed his training until the next day.

Only after doing this did his mission ended and strength improve by 1.

The other mission provided him with a similar level task and Jake had to put in long hours of practice before he managed to complete it and gained an agility point.

Jake Grant

Level-4

Strength:28

Endurance: 27

Agility:28

Mana:18"

He managed to almost reach the threshold.of next level.

Jake went to visit the old man and after exchanging pleasantries, he checked on his condition with the doctor. Once the doctor assured Jake about his condition, he relaxed a bit and bud his farewell before leaving for a nearby food stall.

Even though this place was bigger and more decorated, the taste wasn't up to Jake's preferences. In his mind, the old man's dishes were still the best one.

....

The hospital room-

"Did you feel something different about him?" The mysterious man asked.

" He got stronger than the last time we saw him." The old man replied.

"Exactly. I don't know what he ate or how he trained, but to improve so fast in such a small period of time is impressive to say the least."

"If he is able to continue this place of growth, by the time of the test, he will become a monster that will completely dominate the selection test." The old man said.

"The thing I am anticipating is what level he could grow once he awakens his talent and hidden techniques along with his aura. If he manages to maintain the same growth speed, the world will be met by a new kind of monster." The mysterious man said.

"I think he is more than suitable for becoming your successor." The man said to old man.

"Not yet. The future of any cultivator isn't decided by their talent, but rather by their mindset, will and perseverance."

"He is someone, who has suffered since the day he was born, until ge decided to train his strength and become stronger. He decided to take control over his own fate."

"Now that he discovered his talent in training and wins the tournament, he would be scouted by a powerful organization. What changes will it bring in his character.Only when he qualifies all the criteria can he be given an opportunity to become the successor of my ancestry." The old man said.

"What about the other prospect?" The old ma asked.

"They are training in their respective areas too. All of them are monsters and it would be difficult to decide. That is the reason I want to see the boy's true talent once he awakens it. If it is strong enough, we might not require to scout anyone else." The man said.

"Leave the matter to fate. I just hope I find one within time so that a disaster can be avoided in future." The old man said.

....

Jake had returned back to his base and decided to check on the vials he got from the enemy's ring.

"System can you analyze these two."

Jake said while enveloping them with his mana. The system finished analysis after sometime.

"Low grade cultivation pills: Low graded pil with loads of impurities used for training one's energy levels and advance in strength. The effectivity will decrease over time."

"Low grade cultivation elixir: A liquid to cultivate one's body, but filled with impurities and effectiveness will decrease over time."

Both of them were full of impurities, but might be helpful to Jake's training.

"Can I use them?" Jake asked.

"The host has still not awakened his aura and skill tabloids. Using them at a later stage is recommended for full benefit. Recommended use after level-5 is achieved."

"Ok. Can we do something about the impurities?"

"The host has poison resistence and the system's refining process. The impurities will be eliminated once ingested, but the effectiveness will be decreased. Also, the host wouldn't find it effective after 2 to 3 uses." The system clarified.

Jake was happy that he would have a way to improve his strength after getting to level 5 which should be achievable within a short period of time.

He opened up his message tab and a surprising message came up.

"Levelling Up Mission: Level up to 5.

The host is required to train in all the arts present with him to reach the 5th level.

Objective: Strength (28/30)

Endurance (27/30)

Agility(28/30)

Mana(18/20)

Rewards: All stats will be increased by 1

Additional rewards: The host will recieve a new set of arts to train in.

Special Rewards: 2 new skills

A hidden feature will be activated."

Jake's knees were growing weaker. There were no particular limit of times he has to perform a task to get a level up. The system directed him to training until he did. If 200 rotations were required for last, Jake couldn't even imagine how many would.be required to achieve 30.

"I better get back to train." Jake began his training as he has to reach level-5 to be sure about the upcoming test.
