"By the angel!" I gasp covering my mouth. He chuckles. There are angel wings sprouted out of his back! Is he really here to save me? Is all hope not lost? No. I can't get ahead of myself. This may all be false.
I straighten myself and look the man directly in the eyes and clear my throat, "What are you?" I can't help but frown and furrow my brow.
The man- no angel, seems taken aback by the question. "Isn't that obvious? I'm an angel. I'm here to answer your prayer." He smiles holding out his gloved hand. "How may I be of service to you, miss?" He asks while I take his hand. Even though it's gloved I can feel the warmth of his hand, surrounding my own small hand.
I furrow my brow once more. How can he help me? There is no way to bring back the dead or to rewind time. I frown, tears stinging the back of my eyes. "Make me happy." I almost whisper.
As if he already knew what I meant the angel wraps his muscular arms around me. His wings protecting us from being seen. Gently stroking my hair, he whispers me the last words my mother said to me, "Don't worry, whisp. It will be alright, just smile." I can no longer hold back the tears. Like a river they come streaming down my cheeks.
All I can hear is the start of rain. Soothing in the moment of silence.
"Let the rain wash your tears away, as of now you are one." The angel says letting me loose. I remain clinging to his clothes, unable to let go.
