Madeline had always hated it when people threatened her. Besides, what was so great about Augustus? She didn't like him at all.
She had reluctantly accepted his arrangement because he was helping her daughter, but if he still tried to take advantage of her, she would retaliate. She wasn't someone who would submit to adversity.
"That's more like it. Although I'll feed you and your son three meals a day, you have to follow my rules. If I'm in a bad mood one day and don't want to cook, we'll buy takeout."
"Fine. You call the shots on your territory."
Augustus had no idea how he was good-naturedly agreeing to this woman's rude request.
Although he was the one who was rude first, she managed to turn the situation around.
Madeline nodded satisfactorily and waved goodbye at him before driving off.
