The reason why Madeline refused to cooperate with the Astor Corporation was because she found it troublesome.
And that was because she didn't like to modify her work. Anything she had drawn had almost never been modified.

What did they mean by 'till they were satisfied'?
As long as she decided on something, no one could change her mind, so the two parties didn't come to an agreement.
