Hadn't they agreed that he was on leave? Then why was his phone ringing? Could it be urgent for Benjamin? Mallia suddenly realized she shouldn't harbor too many illusions.
Otherwise, when faced with the truth, she would feel particularly disappointed.
"Why are you calling me?"
Benjamin was still in the mindset of having taken the day off, so when he saw a colleague's call, he assumed it was just a simple show of concern for why he hadn't gone to work.
"You're the odd one, why do you ask that? When I call you, don't you know why? Did you forget about the favour you asked of us?"
