Mallia Mamet sat in the car, resting her head to the side as she looked out the window. She didn't want to know the reason, and she had no interest whatsoever in what Steve Harris was saying; she was just spacing out.
Bronte, hearing the Boss's voice, was terrified. Why had the Boss suddenly become so serious? Did he do something wrong? It felt like he was in big trouble.
"I was waiting there nicely, but when it seemed about time, and the Boss still hadn't returned, I went up to look for him. They told me you and Mrs. Mamet had already left, which made me even more curious about why I didn't meet the Boss. So, I followed the direction they pointed and ended up running into that crowd, and then I saw the Boss bringing Mrs. Mamet over here."
As Steve listened to Bronte recounting the events, judging what he said, it sounded very pitiful, not as if he was lying to him.
"All right, I understand."
