One night, the young woman calling herself Shadow Bat chases after a thug through the streets of New York. When she turns the corner, she is stopped by Spider-Bat who stands in her way.
"Hey. You know you're letting one of New Yorks top dealers get away, right?" Shadow Bat says.
At that moment, Peter effortlessly throws a batarang into the dealers leg, dropping him to the ground.
"I thought I said to stay off the streets. You don't really listen very well." Peter says.
Shadow Bat smirks.
"You sound just like my dad."
Peter smirks.
"Stephanie Pryde. If you want to become a hero that this city needs, then you'll meet me tomorrow night, ten o'clock sharp. If you're late, don't bother showing up." Peter says, handing her a piece of paper with an address on it.
"So what exactly is-"
When Stephanie looks up from the piece of paper, Peter is already gone.
"Yeah, that's not gonna get annoying." She says to herself.
High above the city, the hero named Blue Spider flies through the night sky with wings and a rocket.
"Nothing like a night flight to take my mind off of homework."
At that moment, as he's not paying attention he crashes into the side of a building and starts to fall towards the ground. Before he hits the ground, he is stopped in midair by a web that stuck to his leg. Spider-Bat then stands infront of him, completely shocking him.
"You need to work on your landing." Peter says.
"Oh my God. You're- you're- you're him, he is you, you're the Spider-Bat. I am- such a huge fan. Would it be appropriate to ask for a autograph right now? No right, definitely not now. But later."Blue Spider asks.
"Jaime Morales. If you want to become a hero that this city needs, then you'll meet me tomorrow, ten o'clock. Don't be late." Peter says.
Peter starts to walk away, leaving Jaime hanging upside down.
"Cool. Yeah, I'll be there but uh- could you let me down please?" Jaime asks.
Peter then throws a batarang that cuts Jaime down, causing him to hit the ground hard.
"Thank you." He says from the ground.
Elsewhere a young man, wearing a homemade Scarlet Spider suit, runs and jumps from roof top to roof top, making jumps that no normal person couldn't make. He jumps again, this time barely being able to make it to the other side, falling down on his side.
"Not bad. Not perfect, but not bad." A voice says.
The young man quickly turns around and sees Spider-Bat standing across from him.
"Holy shit."
Peter then jumps down infront of the young man.
"Let me guess. A radioactive spider bite?" Peter asks.
"Yeah, that's exactly what happened. How did you.... the same thing happened to you, right?"
Peter smirks.
"Tim Riley. If you want to become a hero this city needs. Then you'll be at this location tomorrow night, ten o'clock."
Peter then effortlessly jumps to other building and webswings away.
"Woah." Tim says.
The next night Tim slowly approaches Crime Alley, the location that he was given, looking around for Spider-Bat.
"Ok, this is the place. I even showed up early." Tim says.
Soon Stephanie shows up.
"Well, looks like I'm not the only one who got invited to the party." Stephanie says.
Tim blushes a little and extends his hand.
"Hi. I'm- Tim. Tim Riley."
Stephanie smiles.
"Stephanie Pryde. Have we've met before?"
"We have Algebra together at Midtown. You borrowed a pencil from once."
"Right, I remember you now. I'm guessing you got the same invitation." Stephanie says.
"Yeah, I did." Tim replies.
"So did I." A voice says.
Tim and Stephanie turn around and see Jaime Morales walking towards them.
"Jaime?" Tim asks.
"Tim?" Jaime replies.
The two smile at each other and share a handshake.
"What's going on man, you got visited by- you know who to?" Jaime asks.
"Yeah, I guess all three of us did." Tim says.
"The question now, is why meet here?" Stephanie asks.
"Wait, isn't this Crime Alley? You know where The Parkers were shot?" Jaime asks.
"Yes." A voice says.
The three highschool kids look up and sees Spider-Bat up above them. Peter jumps down and stares at the spot where he watched his parents die.
"This is the place where I made a promise. A vow. To save this city from itself. To never let what happened here all those years ago happen again."
Peter then slowly takes off his mask and turns to the kids, revealing his identity to them.
"My name is Peter Parker. And ever since that night here in Crime Alley, I have been on a mission to save New York. But I can't do it alone. It won't be easy, but I believe with the right training, you three can make this City something better."
The three young vigilantes are stunned at all of this, just staring at Peter. Jaime then leans over to Tim and Stephanie.
"Does anyone else have goosebumps?" Jaime asks.
Both Tim and Stephanie nod.
"Ok, just checking."
Peter smirks.
"So, what do you three say? Are you ready to be something more?" Peter asks.
The three look at each other with determination in their eyes.
"I'm in." Tim says.
"Me too." Stephanie says.
"You're Spider-Bat, of course I'm in too."
Peter smiles.
"Great. We'll start your training tomorrow. Get some rest. You're going to need it." Peter says.
At that moment, the Spider-Bat signal shines through the night sky. The three teenage heroes all look up and see it.
"I think someone's calling yo-" Tim starts to say.
When they look back over at Peter, he is already gone.
"Cool." Jaime says.
Meanwhile, in an unknown building a woman walks into an office and stands infront of desk with the chair turned towards the window.
"Everything is unpacked. We're ready to start operations." The woman says.
"You know what I've realized... in our line of work, cities are a lot like prison. First day in, you find the biggest guy in the yard. You put him down. Hard. Sends a message. Don't screw with me. Now we're in New York. Who's the biggest guy in the yard?" The mystery boss says, pointing to the Spider-Bat signal in the sky.
"It's highly unlikely that he'll come out in the open so easily." The woman says.
The mysterious boss spins his chair around to reveal the infamous Black Mask, the crime lord.
"That's true. But my father always told me: Don't fish without bait." He says with a wicked smirk.
