Captain Krypton then flies towards Peter as he sticks to the wall.
"So. You must be this Spider-Bat I've heard so much about. Honestly, I'm a little surprised you're actually real."
He then offers his hand to the Vigilante. Peter hesitates for a moment, then shakes Captain Krypton's hand.
"Captain." Peter says.
Iron Lantern soon shows up.
"Oh, the oldtimers here."
Captain Krypton smirks.
"Stark."
"Captain. Where'd big ugly go?" Hal asks.
Peter points to the monster motionless across from them.
"Oh." Hal says.
The three go over to the creature to get a good look at him.
"Fury filled me in. Any idea what these things are? They've been planting these devices all over the city. When I try to question them, they just blow up before I can get any answers." Captain Krypton says.
At that moment the creature blows up infront of them as Hal shields them from the blast.
"Like that." The Captain says.
"Their soldiers. Expendable soldiers at that. Planting these devices at all costs." Peter says.
"Military tactics. Fury might be right, we could be looking at a full scale invasion." The Captain says.
At that moment, Captain Krypton hears something off in the distance.
"What is it?" Peter asks.
"Trouble. More monsters."
In a blur, the Captain goes to help as Lantern scoffs.
"Show off."
"Funny. I was thinking the same about you." Peter says as he swings away.
Hal frowns at Spider-Bat then flies after them.
Meanwhile as another creature goes after an elderly man the speedster Mercury runs in, surrounded by blue lightning, and takes out the monster.
"Are you alright, sir?" He asks.
He helps the man up to his feet.
"Yes, thank you, young man. Your parents must be so proud."
A bittersweet smile appears on Mercury's face.
"I like to think so. Get to safety." He tells him.
As the old man runs away, multiple monster surround the speedster. Mercury prepares to fight, an energy blasts take out three of the monsters. Ms. Wonder then flies in, taking out two left standing with her sword, slicing through them with ease. After she is finished, she turns to Mercury with a smile.
"Hello, fellow warrior!" She says.
Mercury smiles nervously.
"Uh, hi." He says.
At that second Captain Krypton appears, seeing that the two has the situation handled. A few minutes after that, Spider-Bat and Iron Lantern show up behind him.
"I had a feeling it was those two." Peter says.
Hal is confused.
"Wait, you knew they were coming?" He asks.
"I've been tracking two individuals coming to Metropolis. One fast, and one even faster. I had a hunch it was them." Peter says.
Hal scoffs jokingly.
"With what? Your own satellite?"
Peter pauses for a moment, then looks back at Hal with a smirk and walks away, surprising Hal.
"I was only kidding, you have a satellite?" Hal asks.
Captain Krypton then lands infront of Ms. Wonder.
"Hello Diana, it's good to see you again." Captain says with a smile.
Ms. Wonder grins, hugging her friend.
"Captain! It's been so long. You haven't changed a bit."
"You two know each other already?" Peter asks.
"Yes, back in World War two, Diana helped rescue our soldiers from enemy territory. She's a good friend."
"I had no idea you would be still around after all these years, Captain. Otherwise I would have visited sooner."
"It's alright, you're here now that's all that matters."
Diana smiles and nods. Iron Lantern then flies infront of Mercury.
"Mercury! My man! Great to see you." Hal says trying to do a handshake as Mercury stands there awkwardly.
"Oh yeah, and that's Spider-Bat." Hal says.
Mercury is shocked to see Spider-Bat.
"Spider-Bat's real?" Mercury asks.
"Yeah, he's over there." Hal replies.
In a second, Mercury approaches Peter.
"It is a real honor to meet you, sir. Spider-Bat, Sir Spider-Bat, Spider-Bat sir." Mercury says, offering his hand.
Hal flies over behind Mercury.
"Don't bother, guys a total tool." Hal says.
Peter then shakes Mercury's hand.
"I've followed your efforts in Central City, Mercury. You do tight, officiant work." Peter says.
As Spider-Bat walks away, Mercury smiles out of pride.
"Hey Pietro, you got a little something on your nose there." Hal jokingly says.
"So what's next?" Captain Krypton asks.
"I don't know. Why don't you tell us, agent Romanoff." Peter says.
At that moment, the Black Raven comes out of the shadows, surprising everyone except Spider-Bat.
"First, we get out of the open." She says.
At that moment, Shields helicarrier appears in the sky after being cloaked.
On the helicarrier, the heroes wait for Nick Fury to arrive. Hal, out of his suit, approaches Captain Krypton while eating snacks.
"You know you're pretty spry for an older fellow. What's your secret, pilates?"
Captain looks at him in confusion.
"What?"
"It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple things, you know- doing time as a Capsicle." Hal jokes.
Captain Krypton glares at Hal for the joke.
"Ok... I'm gonna go see what Mercury's doing."
Hal then walks away in a hurry.
"Don't mind him. He doesn't know when to shut up." Peter says.
"Yeah. His father was like that from time to time. But, he was a good man. So I'm hoping his son is too."
Peter smiles at the statement, believing in it himself.
"So. I'm curious. What made Peter Parker put on a mask and fight crime in New York?"
Peter smirks.
"You peaked." Peter says.
"I was curious. I thought you were a ghost story until now."
"I must admit, even I was curious to hear of a man who was half spider and half bat, protecting the innocent." Diana says, approaching the two.
Peter stays silent for a moment.
"I made a promise. A vow. That with this great power, will also come great responsibility. That I would do everything I can save everyone I can. No matter what."
Both Captain Krypton and Ms. Wonder look at the hero with respect.
"That is an honorable reason to fight." Diana says with a smile.
Captain Krypton then puts his hand on his shoulder.
"Yes it is. Your parents would be proud."
Peter can't help but smile at them both.
"Thank you Clark, Diana, for saying that."
As Peter walks away, Clark and Diana are surprised.
"When did you tell him your real name?" Diana whispers.
"I didn't." Clark says with a smirk.
Meanwhile, Nick Fury is meeting with the world security council.
"You're dealing with forces you can't control." One of the Council members tells him.
"You ever been in a war, councilman? In a fire fight? Did you feel an overabundance of control?" Nick asks.
"Are you saying these creatures coming here are a declaration of war on our planet?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying."
"And who's leading these creatures? It's obvious they aren't working on their own."
"Unsure. But it's up to use to protect this world from whoever is putting it under threat. We need a response team." Fury argues.
The council members don't say anything for a moment.
"The Avengers Initiative was shut down by your Ex-wife."
"This isn't about the Avengers."
"We've seen the list. You're running the world's greatest covert security network and you're gonna leave the fate of the human race to a handful of freaks?"
"I'm not leaving anything to anyone. We need a response team. These people may be isolated, unbalanced even. But I believe that they could be exactly what we need."
"You believe? War isn't won by sentiment, director."
"No... it's won by heroes."
