One morning on the Williamsburg Bridge, an armored truck and other cars behind it are stopped by green smoke and lightning. A man, wearing an all green suit and a question mark logo on his chest, and a crystal ball on his head steps out of the smoke, holding a question mark cane.
"Riddle me this, who is not only the smartest man in all of New York but also the master of Illusions? It is none other than I, Mysteriddle!"
At that moment, Multiple men get out of there cars to confront Mysteriddle.
"Hey freak show, get out of the way or I'll make ya, I have places to be!" One man yells.
"Alright, how about another riddle. I have no legs but I'm not a broken chair, I have scales but I don't weigh things, I sometimes have a rattle but I'm not a baby, I scare many people but I'm not a spider, I was in the Garden of Eden but I'm not Adam or Eve. What am I?"
One of the men raises his hand.
"Oh! I know, a snake."
Mysteriddle starts laughing.
"Correct!"
He then opens his cape as multiple snakes come out, scaring everyone back into their cars.
Meanwhile at the graveyard, Peter visits his parents grave to put flowers on his mother's tombstone.
"Happy birthday, mom." He says with a smile.
At that moment, he hears laughter in the distance. He looks over and sees Andrea Jane Watson standing infront of two graves.
"Oh you should have seen it, that dress was so hideous. I can't believe she agreed to wear that on the runway."
Peter starts to walk over to her, catching her attention.
"Oh, hey Tiger." She says with a smile.
"Hey, Andrea. Sorry, I thought you were saying something. To me, I mean."
Andrea smirks and turns away from him.
"No." She says.
Peter let's out a chuckle.
"Alright, my mistake." Peter says as he starts to walk away.
A smile appears on Andrea face.
"You know who that was? Peter Parker. You know, Parker Industries. Jill introduced us. He's kinda nerdy but really cute though."
Andrea then sees Peter walking back over to her.
"Yes?" She asked.
"Sorry, I heard my name. I thought- Who are you talking to?" Peter asks.
"My mother."
Peter looks down and sees the headstone of her mother.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"That's ok, we're done. She doesn't have a lot to say today."
Peter smiles at Andrea.
"And you think I'm crazy." She says.
"What? No- not at all actually."
Andrea giggles and the two start walking together.
"It's just that when I talk to her out loud, I can imagine how'd she reply. I can hear her, like she's right there."
Peter looks at Andrea, understanding the feeling.
"I talk to my parents." He says.
"What do you say to them?"
Peter hesitates answering.
"I make them a vow."
"What vow?" Andrea asks.
Peter smiles.
"A secret one."
Andrea smiles.
"Oh, a man of mystery. I didn't think you were like the type, Parker. And have you kept your vow?"
"So far." Peter answers.
They soon makes it her car.
"So you have my number, right?"
"I do." Peter replies.
"Good. Mom was asking why you haven't used it yet."
As Andrea drives away, Peter smiles even more but has to hold himself back from pursuing anything with Andrea.
"Snap out of it, Parker. You know you can't."
At that moment, he gets a call from Ben.
"Hey Ben, what's up?"
"I do apologize sir, I know how personal today is and how you prefer to work during the night, but there seems to be something happening on the Williamsburg Bridge that might need your attention."
"It's ok, Ben. I could use the distraction right now."
"Pardon, sir?" Ben asks.
"Nothing, just- ran into someone at the graveyard. I'll check it out."
On the bridge, Mysteriddle continues to laugh at the terrified people in there cars.
"That's right! Run fear the powers of the mystic arts!"
At that moment, Spider-Bat lands on a car facing Mysteriddle.
"I'm not really a fan of magic." Peter says.
"Ah, Spider-Bat. I've been looking forward to testing my abilities against a worthy adversary."
Peter then hear people telling him to help with the snakes. As he looks closer, he notices something off about them. The hero throws a Batarang at one of them, revealing that they are just harmless robots.
"It's alright, they're not real!" Peter yells.
Mysteriddle chuckles.
"Very impressive, Spider-Bat. But riddle me this: I have a tail but Im not a mouse, I have scales but Im not a fish, I have wings but Im not an airplane. What am i?"
Peter gets confused for a moment.
"A dragon?" He says, unsure of what kind of game Mysteriddle is playing.
The master of Illusions then snaps his fingers and a giant dragon appears from a green cloud in the sky. The dragon flies down at him, but Peter doesn't move an inch, frustrating Mysteriddle. The dragon flies straight through Peter and the bridge, being exposed to be a hologram.
"Impossible, how can you see through my Illusions."
"Because I'm not a five year old at a birthday party. Now take off the fishbowl, and come quietly. I don't have time for games."
"Foolish Hero, you dare insult the great Mysteriddle?"
Mysteriddle then sumons another green cloud and shoots lightning at Spider-Bat. Peter doesn't move until his Spider-Senses goes off, causing him to flip out of the way.
"Ok, so that was real." Peter thinks to himself.
Mysteriddle then steps infront of the armored truck.
"You have one chance to abandon your cargo." He tells the driver.
"I'm thinkin it's safer inside." The driver says.
Lightning from the clouds then hit the truck, causing it to fly up in the air. Peter is shocked when he sees this.
"Mark my words, Spider-Bat. I will make a believer out of you." Mysteriddle says.
He then disappears and the truck is dropped off the bridge and into the water. Peter quickly jumps into the water to save the driver inside. He swims down, rips the driver's door off and carries the driver to surface and puts him back on the bridge.
"You ok?" Peter asks.
"Yeah. I think so." The driver replies.
"Peter then looks around and sees a damaged device on the ground. He walks over and picks it up, glaring at it for a moment.
Meanwhile, Mysteriddle is at his hideout throwing his stuff around out of frustration.
"Damn hero. Who does he think he is? I am intellectually superior! I'll show him."
Mysteriddle then pulls out blueprints multiple traps around New York City.
"I'll show them all."
