In Penguins office, Peter stands there glaring at Oswald while he sits down and a woman with blue hair pours him a drink. Penguin smiles, patting the woman on her backside, visibly making her uncomfortable.
"Thanks darlin." Penguin says with a smile, showing off his gold tooth.
The woman smile and nods, and goes to leave the room but gets distracted at the sight of Spider-Bat. Peter looks at the woman, sending a chill down her spine.
"Don't worry darlin, he won't bite." Oswald says.
The woman then slowly leaves the room.
"So what brings the Spider-Bat to my place of business?" Penguin asks.
"What do you know about Slick Hand Tony?"
Penguin looks at Spider-Bat without reacting.
"Tony, he's a good kid. Loyal as all hell."
"Is that why you killed him? Because of his loyalty to Falcone?" Peter suggests.
Penguin has a surprised look on his face.
"Tony-Tonys dead? Oh my God, what the hell happened?"
Peter then grabs Oswald by the collar and slams him against a wall.
"Don't play games with me Cobblepot! You're trying to take over while Falcone's in jail, and killing anyone who has a problem with it!"
"Woah take it easy sweetheart! Look, I don't know what ya talking about, as you can see I'm a club owner."
Spider-Bat's grip gets tighter as he gets frustrated by Penguins act.
"What? You think just because you dress like a scary ass combination of a Bat and a Spider, you don't still need proof like any other cop?"
Peter thinks for a moment, slowly letting go of Penguin.
"This is a warning, Penguin. I won't allow your business in my city."
Cobblepot chuckles and grabs the bottle of liquor.
"Look, you really need to calm your-"
Before Penguin can finish his sentence, he turns around and sees that Spider-Bat is gone. Cobblepot gets flustered for a moment, throwing his glass against the wall. One of the men that was beaten up by Peter walks up to the Penguin.
"That freaks on to us, boss. How the hell did he know about Tony?"
"Doesn't matter how he knows, what matters is that he can't prove we were the ones who offed him. Right now, it's a pycho in a Halloween costume word, against ours."
While Oswald and the man are talking, a bat shaped device with a blinking red dot on it is listening.
Meanwhile, the women with blue hair leaves the Iceberg Lounge, catching the attention of three men.
"Hey long legs." One of the men says
The woman starts to walk faster while the men follow. They soon corner her in a dark alley.
"Hey baby, where are you running off to?"
Woman backs away right into another man
"Oh you smell nice."
The woman gets angry
"Don't touch me." She says, kneeing him in the groin.
As another woman grabs her roughly by the arm, three webs are shot out onto the men's backs and they get pulled into the darkness. After sounds of struggle and fighting stop, Spider-Bat steps out of the shadow. The woman stands in awe of the dark vigilante.
"T-Thank you. Well I'll- just be on my way."
The starts quickly walking away.
"You shouldn't be putting yourself in danger like this, Ms. Vale."
Vicky Vale is surprised by this, then sighs and takes off her wig.
"Well, at least I don't have to wait to get an interview with you."
Peter stares at Vicky for a moment.
"I don't do interviews."
"Come on, the people want to know about you. Where did you come from? Do you have a day job? Who are you?"
Peter sighs
"No one seems to grasp the concept of the mask." He says as he starts to walk away.
Vicky Vale tries to stop him.
"You know my boss thinks you're a menace."
Peter stops and turns his head slightly.
"And what do you think."
"I think you're trying to help. I've heard stories, you coming out of the shadows, saving people, beating down bad guys. I'm just trying to figure out why. Why put on the suit, why take this big of a risk, why be this- Spider-Bat?"
Spider-Bat stays silent for a moment.
"I want to save my city."
Vale smiles and immediately writes down what he said.
"Are you saying that you're from here?"
Peter doesn't answer the question and shoots out a web, swinging away.
"Gross, does that stuff come out of him?" Vale asks as she's alone.
The next morning at school, Peter listens to the recording of Penguins confession and smiles.
"Hey Pete, what are you listening to?" Harry asks as he walks beside Peter while flipping his coin.
"I was just listening to an audio book by a scientist named Dr. Otto Fries Octavius. You wanna listen?" Peter asks.
"I think I'm gonna leave the nerd stuff to you. So how was the date last night?" Harry asks, jokingly pushing Peter.
As Peter chuckles, Gwen shows up.
"What's going on here?" Gwen asks with a smile.
"Our boy here is just all smiles after you guys date last night."
"Well, it was pretty great."
The two smile at each other while Harry chuckles.
"Alright lovebirds, we gotta get to class." Harry says.
"Actually, you two go on ahead, I have something to take care of."
Both Harry and Gwen look at each other in confusion but nod as Peter walks away.
Later, when Commissioner Stacy walks into his office and sees something on his desk. He picks it up, and just sees a Spider-Bat symbol on the package. He opens it and sees a flash drive inside. The Commissioner puts it into his computer and hears Penguin confessing to the murder along with other crimes. He quickly runs out of his office, while Peter is sticking to the wall right outside his office.
That night, as Peter is getting dressed for another date with Gwen, he sees a news paper article disparaging the NYPD for allowing a "menace" like Spider-Bat to do what he wants. Ben walks into the room and sees the young man staring at the newspaper.
"Pay no mind to that article, sir. That Jameson doesn't know what he's talking about."
Peter let's out a chuckle
"No, he has point. Because of me, no one respects the uniform. If this city's gonna change, they have to believe in the system, not just my brand of justice." Peter says.
As Ben nods, a police report can be heard on Peter's CB radio about a shootout outside of the Iceberg Lounge, in an effort to arrest Oswald Cobblepot Aka the Hammerhead Penguin. Peter sighs when hears this, loosening his tie and walking to the entrance of the Batcave.
"Should I call Ms. Stacy, sir?" Ben asks.
Peter turns to his butler with an upset look on his face.
"Thank you, Ben. Tell her I'm sorry." Peter says, leaving the room.
At the shootout, multiple cops are laid out on the ground, shot down by Penguin and his men.
"Think you can take me in! Huh!" Penguin yells, shooting a gun that looks like an umbrella.
As Commissioner Stacy and Detective Montoya are shooting, they see Bullock on the ground, shot in the leg.
"Hang in there Bullock!" Montoya yells, running over to Bullock.
"Montoya! Wait!" Stacy yells, trying to run after her but stopped by gunfire.
Montoya makes it to Bullocks side, shooting one of Penguins men in the head.
"Come on, stay with me, partner." Montoya says, wrapping his leg with her belt to stop the bleeding.
"Aw, you do care, I'm touched Montoya." Bullock says, cringing in pain.
At that moment two of Penguins men surround them both, guns prepared to shoot. Before they can get a chance to fire, smoke bombs are thrown to the ground, smoke surrounding Penguin and his men. Commissioner Stacy can't see anything, but hears gunfire coming from the smoke. Soon both Bullock and Montoya are carried out of the smoke by Spider-Bat and lay them down next to Stacy.
"Get these two medical attention, pull your men out. I'll take it from here." Peter says, walking back into the smoke.
Penguins men then start to be taken out, one by one. As Penguin hears footsteps getting closer, he quickly throws down his gun and runs away. Peter follows him to an underpass, where he looses sight of him. As Peter slowly walks, Penguin charges at him with brass knuckles. Spider-Bat easily dodges his strikes, then throws a kick to his head. The Penguin is unfazed as he grabs his leg and throws him into a wall, cracking it a bit.
While Peter slowly gets back to his feet, Penguin charges at him head first. The vigilante quickly flips out of the way as Penguins head puts a hole in the wall.
"Stay still, bug." Penguin says.
Cobblepot throws a right hook that Peter dodges, then lands a punch to the gut. Penguin stumbles back. Oswald shakes it off and charges at Spider-Bat again, but lands two punches to both sides of his face, then lands a spin kick to his jaw. As the Penguin is dazed on his feet, the vigilante lands another powerful punch, dropping him for good.
A few minutes later, Commissioner Stacy runs in and sees Spider-Bat standing over Penguins unconscious body.
"Good work." Stacy says putting handcuffs on the Penguin.
"No. You caught him, not me." Peter says.
Stacy looks at the dark vigilante, surprised and confused.
"What are you talking about?"
"It can't be me this time. It has to be you."
"Why?"
"To protect this city. For law and order. If people don't think the system works, there will be others like Falcone and Cobblepot."
"But that's not how it happened."
"Then make it how it happened."
Stacy sighs, then finishes cuffing Penguin.
"If that's what you want, I won't-"
When Stacy looks up, he sees that Spider-Bat is gone and smiles.
Later that night, Gwen Stacy hears a knock on the door. She opens it and sees Peter standing there with a pizza.
"Peter? Hey, what's going on?"
"I'm really sorry I had to cancel dinner earlier. But I you're hungry, I figured we could eat this pizza together." Peter says with a smile.
Gwen grins at the young man.
"I could eat." Gwen says
As Peter goes to walk in, Gwen grabs him by the shirt.
"But first."
Gwen then kisses Peter, surprising him.
"Now let's eat." Gwen says while Peter is stunned, soon smiling brightly
