Peter puts on a hoodie and his custom made web shooters. He runs up a wall then shoots a web, swinging to where the abandoned building is. In the building, the man who shot Peter's parents quickly baracades himself in the building, making sure no one can get in. He then runs upstairs and stares out of the window seeing nothing but police officers and vehicles. The man then hears a loud crash downstairs, startling him.
"Who's there?!" He yells, aiming his gun in the darkness.
Peter then comes up from behind him, not making a sound.
"You took the lives of two good people tonight."
The man quickly swings the gun behind him and shoots, but Peter easily dodges the bullets then quickly grabs his wrist, snapping it and causing him to drop the gun. As the man screams out in pain, Peter punches him to the ground.
"And I'm going to make you pay for it." Peter says.
The criminal gets back to his feet and pulls out a knife with his good hand. He swings the knife at the angry young man, but Peter easily dodges. He then kicks the man so hard in the gut that he goes flying into a wall.
Peter grabs the murderer by the shirt and starts hitting him over and over again, beating him half to death and blood to fly all over. He then throws him into the window head first, cracking it. The murderer looks up at an angry Peter, blood and bruises all over his face.
"Come on man, please just let me go, I'm just trying to get by!" He says.
Peter grits his teeth, getting even angrier.
"Did they beg? Did they beg you to let them go? To live, huh? Answer me!"
Peter pushes him straight through the window, holding him over the edge, threatening to drop him. As the criminal screams, Peter sees the fear in his eyes, feeling conflicted about droping him.
"I should drop you. Take from you what you took from them."
After a few moments pass, Peter tosses him to the ground inside of the building.
"But they wouldn't approve. With great power comes great responsibility." He says.
At that moment, police officers come in and sees the criminal beaten and bloody on the ground with no one else in site. Later as Ben watches the news about the Parkers killer being arrested, Peter walks into the house. He doesn't say a word, hiding the blood that's on his clothes and hands, Ben stands up from his chair.
"Master Peter."
Peter stops but doesn't turn around.
"I'm going to bed, Uncle Ben."
Peter walks upstairs, as Ben is left feeling sorrowful.
The next day, Peter walks through the hall as all the students stare at him and whisper among them. As Peter goes to open his locker, he is approached by Flash Thompson.
"Hey, Parker."
Peter doesn't answer for a moment, feeling annoyed just by hearing Flash's voice.
"Not today, Flash."
"Come on man, I just want to talk."
When Flash puts his hand on his shoulder, Peter grabs Flash by the shirt, lifts him up in the air and pins him against the locker, anger in his eyes. Everyone stares, including Gwen whose walking down the hallway.
"Look. I heard about your parents. I'm sorry- I'm really am."
Peter's anger soon turns into sadness, as he slowly let's go of Flash and starts to cry. He then grabs his backpack and whips his tears away while he walks off. Gwen steps infront of the broken young man.
"Peter." Gwen says.
Gwen doesn't know what to say and just hugs him. Peter buries his head into her shoulder but soon pulls away and leaves the school. Harry then walks up beside Gwen.
"Hey, how's he doing?" He asks.
Gwen doesn't answer and just stares on, worried about Peter.
A few minutes later, Peter walks into the mansion and slides his back down against the door. The young man then looks up at a picture of his parents and cries yet again. Ben sees this and quickly runs to the boys side to comfort him.
"It's ok, my boy, I have you." Ben says, hugging him.
"It's all my fault, I could have stopped it. I should have been there." Peter replies.
Ben then puts his hands on the boys shoulders.
"Hey. There is nothing you could have done, if you were there that night, I would've had to bury three people that I love."
Peter shakes his head, knowing that's not true. He then gets up, walks over to a table and throws it across the room with one arm. Ben looks at the boy in pure shock. A few moments later, Peter sits down with Ben and explains everything with the spider bite, the spider powers, about what he's been doing for the past few weeks, and how he found the man that killed his parents and almost killed him.
"I was going to tell dad that night, but..."
Ben thinks to himself for a moment, then puts his hand on Peter's arm.
"It's still not your fault." Ben says.
"I could have stopped him. I could have protected them."
"Don't blame yourself for what happened. It was him, and him alone."
Peter stays silent for a moment.
"I miss them, so much."
Ben looks at the boy with sorrow in his eyes.
"Me too, Master Peter."
That night, Peter lays awake not being able to sleep. He sits up in bed and stares out of the window, at the moon and the stars. At that moment a bat flies into the window, startling him. The boy then stands up and stares at the bat, soon getting an idea. He grabs a notepad and pencil and starts to draw. When he finishes, he stares at his drawing of a bat with spider legs.
A two days later, the day of his parents funeral, Peter stands his room with a packed bag on his bed. Ben then walks into the room.
"The funeral will be starting soon."
Peter nods and smiles at his butler who has helped him get through this hard time in his life.
"Thank you, Uncle Ben. For everything, seriously. I wouldn't be able to get through any of this without you."
Ben smiles and hugs Peter.
"It's my pleasure, Master Peter."
After the hug, Ben looks at the bag on Peter's bed.
"So you really are doing this." Ben says.
Peter nods.
"I have to. For my parents, and for this city."
Ben nods, understanding the boys motivations. At that moment Gwen walks into the room.
"Hi. Sorry, the front door was unlocked so I just came in."
Ben notices the smile on Peter's face while looking at Gwen.
"Nonsense Ms. Stacy, you're always welcome here. I'll leave you two alone."
As Ben leaves, Gwen walks up to Peter.
"How are you feeling?"
Peter sighs.
"Oh you know, the best I can be, considering the circumstances." Peter says.
"Yeah I understand. So you're leaving?" Gwen asks, pointing to the bag on his bed.
Peter nods.
"After the funeral. I was going to tell you and Harry later. I just- I need to get out of the city for awhile."
Gwen smiles at her long time friend, still sad that he is leaving.
"I get it. Will you be back?" Gwen asks.
Peter smiles and hugs her.
"Of course I will."
The two embrace for a long time, not wanting to let each other go.
During the funeral, Peter stands infront of his parents caskets, secretly making vow. A vow of both justice and vengeance. Of great power and great responsibility. A promise that when he returns to this city, he will change things for the better.
