Chapter 8 - The System

(Current Location -

Planet: Goliath

Time: 10 min before the catastrophe)

"System, exit the dark-room">

Kaze teleported out of the dark-room with a dazzling sound and a feeling of dizziness as if everything around him was jumbled.

He slowly opened his eyes, but the way the previous owner of his body was treated had already ruined his first impression of the world. He was enraged, even if he didn't show it, because he had suffered the same misfortunes and injustices as Kaze when he went through his memories.

He was shrouded in darkness again as he opened his sparkly green eyes to look at the world for the first time, but this time it was different because he could clearly see a light source ahead of him.

He continued walking, and as he got closer to the source of light, his vision improved, and he found himself in a damp environment with red soil beneath him and thousands of spikes above him.

Yes, he was in a cavern. As he moved closer to the exit, Kaze noticed a girl lunging at him and instinctively grabbed her.

She had long dark-black hair and hazel-brown eyes, a slim and delicate waist, a well-built curvaceous figure, and a pretty face that stood a few centimeters below him due to his height.

Many men would gladly die to catch a glimpse of her beauty, but Kaze was not one of them. He'd recently been tortured by the so-called system and had firsthand experience with the world's cruelty.

Yes, he was enraged and irritated. As a result of the Emperor's experiences within him, he would naturally be calm and not lose control of his emotions but after a lifetime of torture and 12-years of brutality, anyone would be angry.

His rage was accumulated even more as he noticed a dozen spider-type beasts approaching him from outside the cavern. He could feel their hostile intentions and sensed their malice, He could no longer control the rage that had built up boiling inside him.

As rage overtook him, a red hue began to creep into his green eyes. And before he realised what was going on, he had already transmitted a portion of the Emperor's killing intent.

The beasts, as if on instinct, realized the blunder they had made and attempted to flee as quickly as they could, but in the blink of an eye, not only them but the entire world was shattered by just a glance.

That was only a fraction of the power wielded by the previous ruler of the world, the Emperor, and he had just unknowingly unleashed the Emperor's wrath, but the red hue vanished from his eyes as quickly as it appeared, leaving only the destruction behind.

He was still oblivious to what had just happened. At one instance he was looking at some beasts approaching him and just after a blink of an eye, it was like the world had come to an end and just as he was thinking this, he heard a familiar sound.

He wiped away the notifications and juggled these thoughts in his head, his expression never changing from his calm demeanour as he looked back for his gaze to be locked on the girls, but she fell unconscious before he could ask anything else.

He placed her gently on the ground behind a rock and exited the cave quietly. Despite having a real-time go-through of the 12-year-old boy's memories, he was still unfamiliar with the term 'common-sense,' as he placed an alone girl in a dark cave on a planet teeming with beasts and then walked away as if nothing had happened.

He continued walking forward for a few minutes before coming to a halt because he had no idea where he was going.

"System, how can I leave this place?" he said when he couldn't find anyone to ask.

Ding!

💥

Trying to wrap his head around the new notifications, Kaze asked, "System, what is Xp?".

Kaze seemingly disappointed asked, "What is the use of Xp?".

Now a bit interested, Kaze said, "System, open shop"

"Hey, how I can I know my level?" said Kaze

Kaze excited from his first discovery in the outside world shouted out loud in his mind, "Status".

Kaze was perplexed because he had no idea what the standard of strength in this new world was, but he did know that if he wanted to get stronger, he needed to level up.

He excitedly went in the direction indicated by the system, looking in the top left where a small gauge indicated the distance traveled.

[900/1200]

Kaze was as happy as a child who had discovered his favorite toy, but it was true that this was his very first toy, and despite the Emperor's experiences and his body's 12-year memory, he was still an innocent small child venturing into the outside world for the first time.

He heard the ding sound again after another ten minutes had passed.

Ding!

[1200/1200]

[0/680]

As the system directed him, Kaze changed course and began heading eastward. After the system had given him his new toy, he had begun to gain trust in it.

Despite the fact that he was experiencing a variety of emotions from time to time, his outward appearance was stern, his face remained as cold as ever, and his thoughts were never expressed.

The Emperor, who was once the world's ruler, displayed this calmness.

Kaze quickly became bored traveling with nothing to do after a few more hours of walking and changing directions as per the system's supervision.

He had been asking the system questions incessantly, and while he received the insufficient level notification, for the most part, he still gleaned some useful information.

He discovered that each mission assigned by the system was of varying difficulty, and that depending on the mission's difficulty, he could earn more Xp. There were six difficulty levels he could currently know about based on the difference between the host's level and the level of the challenge he faced, and he assumed there could be more.

F = Very Easy unless you are a masochist

E = Easy if no silly mistakes are made

D = Could pose a challenge

C = There is a chance of death from this level onwards (Party of 3 recommended)

B = Certain skill level is required (Party of 10 recommended)

A = Both mental and physical prowess is required (Party of 50 recommended)

Kaze was confused because his current mission, which required him to simply walk to a specific location, was ranked B. He considered it briefly but quickly dismissed it, assuming that it was simply a system error.

And after a while, his stomach began to grumble and make strange noises. He had no idea what was going on at first, and had even prepared himself for a fight when he first heard the noises.

But, being the astute young man that he was, he quickly grasped the situation.

Yes, he was hungry, and it was the first time he had felt hunger since he came to this new world.

Kaze despised this new sensation of hunger because it made him feel empty, and he despised it even more when a new message appeared in front of him.

Kaze was taken aback; he had only 10 hp and had no idea what would happen if his hp bar fell to zero. He didn't want to jeopardize his newfound life by experimenting on himself. It was not worth taking the chance.

'System, how much further do I have to travel until I reach the teleportation gate?' Kaze asked again.

Kaze exclaimed, this was not a short distance. Even if he were in perfect health, he doubted he could cover this distance in 10 hours. Much worse now, when he was already exhausted from hours of walking.

And as soon as he said his situation couldn't get any worse, it did.

As he turned around, he saw two spider-like creatures staring at him as if he were the best cuisine on a famous 5-star restaurant's menu.

Soon another notification popped-up,

He quickly realized why his primary mission had been given a rank of 'D'.

On this very day, on a red soiled planet, a young green-eyed boy realized to never jinx himself again.
