Heero opened his eyes and looked at Bearded Wang.
In front of his daughter, Bearded Wang had bravely declared that he would slaughter any creature that dared to attack the city. But now he was nervous.
"Tsk, if you are afraid, you can be a spectator and watch me fight these filthy creatures!" Heero clicked his tongue and remarked.
"Who said I am afraid! Before you were born, I went out and hunted the wild beast! How could the present me be afraid of these weaklings!" Bearded Wang beat his chest and declared proudly, trying to shake off his nervousness.
"I will prove to my daughter that not only Sun Zhou Yi can face thousands of beasts, but her father is also capable!" Butcher Wang added emphatically.
Until now, Butcher Wang still thought that Heero was a man in his early 20s. That was the reason why he was friendly to Heero instead of respecting him like the other students. He could not shake the awkwardness of calling someone younger than himself Master.
Heero rolled his eyes and said, "Unfortunately, you can't go into action. Your job is to guard the gate and take care of the specters that slip out. The battlefield is mine!"
"But why? I want to fight too!" Butcher Wang could not accept Heero's arrangement.
As for why he wanted to fight, it was for his daughter. Lan Lan always praised Sun Zhou Yi and Heero in front of him, but not once since Heero and Sun Zhou Yi appeared in her life.
As a father, he was quite jealous and wanted to prove to his daughter that he was no less amazing than Heero and Sun Zhou Yi. Now the chance had come, there was no way he was going to miss it.
"If you join the battle, you will be on my way! Just watch the gate for me!" Heero waved his hand at Butcher Want before sheathing a sword from his waist.
It was a long sword with a similar curve to a katana, but the sword was too long to be a katana. The sword was about two meters long and the hilt took up 40 centimeters.
The sharp side was blood red, shining in the sunlight, while the blunt side was black.
Butcher Wang had no idea what Heero was up to. He made no reply, just looked at Heero.
During his apprenticeship under Heero, he had never seen the man fight seriously. Once in a while, they would spar, three against one.
Still, Butcher Wang could sense that Heero was playing with them. He never saw the young man's limits. Just when he thought he was about to catch up, Heero would show that the gap between them was as wide as heaven and earth.
Looking at Heero's calm yet solemn expression, Butcher Wang decided not to insist on joining the fight.
"I understood this technique after fighting a real Phoenix! Watch carefully, you might gain something!" Heero said as he looked into the distance.
The dust rose and the ground vibrated slightly. The horde was getting closer.
Hearing Heero's words, Butcher Wang rolled his eyes. Phoenix was a mythical creature that only existed in stories. Butcher Wang did not believe Heero's nonsensical remark.
"Tsk... You didn't believe that an inner energy called Ki existed in the past, after all?" Heero clicked his tongue, making the solemn atmosphere uncomfortable.
In the past, Butcher Wang did not believe in this thing called inner energy or Ki. But he was strangled by his own words when he felt the miracle of Ki.
Now, the same thing was happening again. Butcher Wang thought that Heero was bluffing and was convinced that a creature like Phoenix only existed in a fantasy story.
"Bluff all you want! I don't believe it!"
"Then watch this carefully!" As Heero said this, he took a long breath.
Even though Butcher Wang did not believe in the Phoenix thing, he still looked at Heero carefully. He knew that Heero wanted to show him something. Something that would benefit him.
After a moment, he felt heat on his skin. At first, it was just a little warm, but later it became hotter and hotter.
What shocked him was that the heat was coming from Heero. But he saw no fire around Heero. He concentrated his Ki to protect himself from the heat, but it did not help as the burning sensation on his skin grew stronger.
Without hesitation, Butcher Wang moved away from Heero. Only when the distance between him and Heero was ten meters did the burning sensation disappear. But he could still feel the strong heat coming from Heero.
Confused at first, he scanned Heero with his Mystical Eyes. As soon as he activated his Mystical Eyes, he took three steps back in shock.
The Ki around Heero was raging and there was a big difference between the Ki he saw now. The ki had a unique blue colour, but the ki around Heero was deep red.
The ki was raging like a storm and he realised that the heat he felt was this red ki.
Then Butcher Wang felt the vibration on the ground increase, an indication that the horde was about to reach the gate. He looked into the distance, the horde had reached 500 metres from the gate.
Then a figure flashed towards the horde. With his Mystic Eyes, he was able to identify the figure. That figure was Heero, his master.
His eyes were glued to Heero, he wanted to know what Heero was going to do. But soon he noticed something was wrong. He felt the bright sky darken.
Butcher Wang looked up, stunned.
His body stood still and his eyes widened. His eyes were a mixture of shock, disbelief, fear, and awe. Butcher Wang himself did not know what he was feeling.
He simply could not believe that the mythical creature that only existed in stories was being projected in front of his eyes.
Butcher Wang witnessed something he could not believe existed, a phoenix.
Directly above Heero, a phoenix made of crimson flame appeared. The phoenix's wingspan reached 40 metres, and its glowing tail was about 20 metres long.
A giant phoenix truly appeared in front of him.
Badump! Badump! Badump!
In the quiet atmosphere, he could hear his own heartbeat as he looked up at the phoenix. He did not blink his eyes as he fixed his gaze on the phoenix.
Then he remembered the conversation between himself and Heero.
Don't tell me he actually met the real one!?!
Screech!!!
The screech snapped Butcher Wang out of his thoughts. He saw the phoenix dive towards the horde.
BOOM!
The crimson fire raged, consuming half of the horde in an instant. As for Butcher Wang, a strong gust of hot air blew into his face.
Seeing the scene in front of him was like looking at a nuclear bomb. The explosion sent a huge mushroom flame into the sky. The ground shook violently.
Despite the hot gust of wind blowing into his face, Butcher Wang never once took his eyes away. His eyes were glued to the mushroom-shaped flame.
The crimson flame swept over the ghosts, burning them without even leaving ashes.
Just as he thought Heero was finished, Butcher Wang noticed a streak of yellow lightning flash in the sky.
Rumble! Rumble!
The sky darkened as thunder flashed across the sky. He squinted at the figure in the sky.
Butcher Wang saw that the weapon in Heero's hand had changed. Now, Heero was holding a spear.
"What now?" Butcher Wang unconsciously blurted out.
As soon as he said that, his eyes widened again, as if they wanted to pop out of their sockets.
The shock of seeing a phoenix made of flame had not yet worn off. Now another mythical creature was projected before his eyes.
Another mythical creature appeared. This time it was a dragon, a yellow lightning dragon that wrapped itself around Heero.
Hah! Hah! Hah!
Butcher Wang could hardly breathe. Then he saw Heero's figure running towards the rest of the horde. The yellow dragon followed close behind.
Roar!A deafening roar sounded as if the yellow dragon was alive.
