Chapter 146 - Han Ying Past - Part 1

Bai Xin Yue kept looking at the Heero Academy update. She was thinking about how she could join the academy until she found a job advertisement.

The job was secretary to the director of the academy. She thought it was Heero, the director. So she sent her application to the academy without hesitation. Becoming Heero's secretary would help her to be closer to Heero.

The same day, the academy replied and asked her to come for an interview. Bai Xin Yue thought she would be interviewed by Heero. But instead of Heero, she met Kang Seo-Yeon.

She was surprised to see Kang Seo-Yeon here.

"I thought it was just the same name, but it's the real one. What are you doing here, Sister Xin Yue?"

Instead of answering, Bai Xin Yue replied with a question, "What are you doing here?"

Kang Seo-Yeon smiled and replied, "I am the director of Heero Academy! If you are serious about the job, then you will be my secretary~"

"But why..." Bai Xin Yue's words trailed off as she thought of something. With her sister's help, she managed to find Sun Zhou Yi. Could it be that she has already discovered that Heero is Sun Zhou Yi's master...?

"My little brother is a member of the Heero Academy, and my little sister is close to the owner of the academy." Kang Seo-Yeon explained with a smile. Thanks to her siblings, she had a perfect reason to hide her motive for working here.

"How?" Bai Xin Yue blurted out.

Kang Seo-Yeon knew what Bai Xin Yue wanted to know. So she continued with her little sister's story. Without hiding anything, she told Bai Xin Yue that Heero had been her little sister's teacher at the preschool, until Heero had saved her little sister from the Shadow Fang's clutches.

Only then did Bai Xin Yue truly believe that Kang Seo-Yeon was working for her siblings without any hidden motives. But somehow, Kang Seo-Yeon's presence disturbed her. No doubt, Kang Seo-Yeon's beauty could not be overlooked.

Kang Seo-Yeon's presence shook her confidence a little. But it was only for a moment before she regained her confidence. But then Kang Seo-Yeon's next question made her nervous.

"What about you, Sister Xin Yue? Are you really so bored that you want to be a secretary?" Kang Seo-Yeon asked with a smile. She was just curious why Bai Xin Yue came here just to be a secretary at a newly founded academy.

Then she remembered that the one who founded the academy was none other than the man who trained the new rising star, Sun Zhou Yi. Kang Seo-Yeon knew her friend quite well, so she understood her friend's intention.

Seeing the worried look on her friend's face, Kang Seo-Yeon decided not to force Bai Xin Yue to answer. She continued with the next and most important question: "Sister Xin Yue, it's okay if you don't want to answer. But are you really serious about this job?"

Kang Seo-Yeon did not want her friend to misunderstand her. She explained the agreement between him and Heero, that she had to take the position of director seriously, with dedication. She did not want a half-hearted secretary.

Bai Xin Yue calmed down at the question and nodded her head, "Yes, I am serious!"

"Good, then there's no need for an interview if it's you! You are accepted!" Kang Seo-Yeon ended the interview just before it started. As she said, there was no need for an interview because she already knew how good her friend was.

*** ***

Heero trusted Kang Seo-Yeon with everything while he enjoyed his normal life. This was the retirement life he was looking for. When the sun rose, he would go to work and when night came, he would cuddle his wife on the bed.

This was the ideal life he wanted for his retirement. If it were not for the fact that the dungeon and things like Shadow Fang bothered him, he would not bother to set up a martial arts house.

In the noodle shop, Heero kneaded the dough in his hand. The more days passed, the more skilled Heero became at making hand-pulled noodles. He was even quicker than Han Ying.

As he began to stretch the dough into noodles, he noticed a head appear at the bar. It was Shen Miao, and she seemed irritated. It was rare to see Shen Miao so irritated.

Heero immediately picked up his pace and his hand moved faster. After putting the noodles into the pot, he approached the bar and asked with a slight smile, "So, what irritated our princess?"

The pout became even more obvious after Heero asked. The little girl immediately spilled the beans, "The snack shop uncle, he was so unfair! He gave sweets to the other children, but not to me! It's so unfair!"

Heero paused for a moment, remembering who the snack shop uncle was. Then a middle-aged man with a thin moustache, Shi Rui, came to mind. He immediately understood why Shi Rui had not given Shen Miao any sweets.

He remembered how the little tigress had insistently refused the sweets that Shi Rui had given her. The little girl said in her arrogant tone, "Don't give me those cheap sweets! I can't eat these cheap sweets, otherwise it will upset my stomach!"

Fortunately, Shi Rui already knew the little girl's arrogant attitude. He was not offended by the words. Of course, not giving Shen Miao a sweet was not out of resentment, but Shi Rui understood that the little girl would be angry if he gave her the sweet.

Heero understood that, but not for the little girl. He nodded his head as he took something out, it was the golden candy, "Don't make such a face. Here you go~"

Shen Miao's eyes immediately lit up at the sight of the golden ball in Heero's hand. Her hand immediately moved and took the candy from Heero's hand.

Heero just smiled at the little girl and went back to his station. Three minutes later he returned to the bar with two bowls of noodles. He put the bowl on the bar and called "Table 5!"

After that, Heero proceeded with the next order. After putting the noodles into the pot, he went back to the counter and asked Shen Miao, "Remember when you said you didn't want the cheap sweets at the snack shop?"

When Shen Miao heard the question, she was stunned. Even though she did not say it out loud, Heero already knew the answer from her face.

With a gentle smile on his face, he continued, "Uncle Rui may have thought that you would be angry or afraid that you would get a stomach ache if you ate the sweets!"

"But Myung-Hee ate the candy and it did not upset her stomach. I want to try the candy too!" Shen Miao raised her voice as she was reminded of the unfair treatment she had received.

"Then you should say that you want the candy as well. If you did not ask, how would Uncle Rui know that you want the candy too?" Heero explained patiently. But this time, he did not wait for the little girl's answer as he went back to his station.

When he returned to the counter with a bowl of noodles in his hand, Shen Miao continued, "But my father taught me not to beg! I am someone from the inner region, someone with high status, we can't beg from people with lower status!"

"Uncle Rui is from the outer region, and I am from the inner region. My status is higher than his, so I can't ask him to give me sweets. Instead, he should offer me the sweets willingly!"

Heero shook his head and rubbed the little girl's hair. But he had no intention of contradicting the little girl or telling her that her father was wrong. In her mind, what her father said was never wrong. If he said her father was wrong and corrected him, the little girl wouldn't accept it.

Instead, it would be a setback for their relationship, which had gotten much better. Heero did not want that to happen, all his hard work going up in smoke just because of one mistake.

"Then you can buy the sweets if you really want to eat the sweets. You are someone with a higher status, paying a little money for a cheap candy is nothing to our little princess, right?"

Then Shen Miao realised that what Heero had said was true. If the snack shop uncle did not give her sweets, she could buy them.

"Why don't I think about buying the sweets..." the little girl muttered.

"Even though Uncle Rui won't take your money," Heero added, confusing the little girl.

"Why? Why doesn't he take the money? Does the snack shop uncle not want to sell me the sweets?" Shen Miao started to get upset again.

"No, Uncle Rui will give you the sweets, but he won't take the money! He will say: "You don't have to pay, this is a gift from Uncle Rui! He will tell you that for sure!" Heero replied confidently.

After he had finished talking, a waitress came over with an order. Heero rubbed the little girl's hair again and said, "Even if you just greet Uncle Rui like Myung-Hee or Lan Lan did, you don't have to ask, Uncle Rui will give you snacks for free!"

"Didn't your father tell you that it's okay to accept someone's goodwill?" With that, Heero took the order and continued with his work.

As for Shen Miao, she remained silent for a moment. In fact, there was one thing that made her curious. It was when her stepfather predicted what her uncle at the snack shop would say if she bought the sweets.

Curious, she climbed down from the chair and ran out of the shop. She wanted to prove whether what Heero had told her was true or not.

Meanwhile, Han Ying watched her daughter and her husband from her station. No matter how much her daughter scolded him or did anything to keep him away from her, Heero never gave up.

Now one could say that Heero had successfully conquered her daughter's heart. They could talk to each other nicely, completely different from the first time they met.

After a while, she concentrated on the dough in her hand again and murmured in a low voice: "Shall I be the one to start the advance..."

This was how Heero spent his time, in the kitchen and talking to the little girls. He thought days like this would last until the official opening of the academy.

But these days did not last long, because three days later a "special guest" came to the shop. Guo Shan, Shen Miao's biological father, Han Ying's ex-husband, came to the shop.

"Han Ying~ I am sorry for letting you down. I want to make up for my past mistakes and give you true happiness! Come with me to the Inner Territory! Let's start over, our little family~"
