Victor stepped back and I felt the cold breeze reach me through the window touching my back. It felt suddenly so cold. Unbearably cold. I wanted him to stay. I wanted to stay in his embrace, warm and cosy. But there was no way we could do that as the princess who ruled the nation and the field marshal who led the army. My lashes lowered realising he was leaving my chamber. My eyes focused solely on his retreating footsteps.
Before too long he paused. He paused and stepped forward, much abruptly. I made me look up and before I could see his face, he had walked so fast and grabbed the back of my head with one of his hands and my waist with the other. His lips had already taken in my lips in a hasty kiss.
Totally unexpected, but much needed.
