Chereads / Into an Otome Game / Chapter 23 - Luna

Chapter 23 - Luna

Several days has passed— five days at most— there was nothing but anxiety and uneasiness that the students who were close to Luna was feeling.

When the third day arrived, Luna was eventually needed to be in the school infirmary for further examination. It seems that the medical team found something interesting about Luna during their visit the day before they moved her.

Rumors about her condition still spread across the campus, which is unavoidable to begin with. However, alot has been pointing fingers at who is responsible for Luna's situation, especially to her Group.

There had been a circulating rumor that one person in Luna's 'new' friend group is highly responsible for her condition. And practically, the image of the others plummeted, although there hasn't been any sight of violence, threat nor bullying to them. But others has been giving them the look of suspicion, and eventually avoided them.

The bell rang dismissing the students for lunch as well as disturbing my train of thoughts. Noise filled the once silent classroom, chair scraping the floor, chattering of students. The humidity became more warmer than earlier as the room became more lively.

"Hey Ezra, why are you in a daze? Let's go, it's already lunch." A man patted me in the back which I shrugged off, as I eventually got a 'tsk' from him.

Today was Sunday, although its the weekend, there are several students who took extra classes. Unlike the regular classes on weekdays which start at 7 in the morning until 5:15 of the afternoon, weekend classes start at 9 o'clock to 2: 15 pm.

I pulled my chair up as I stood fixing the mess on my table. Putting the textbooks and notes under the space blow the wooden table.

"No I'm good, go on ahead without me." Responded I, flashing a convincing smile at him which he eventually took and flew off.

I swarm along with the other students as we got out of our room. While they seem to have gone head towards the cafeteria, I on the other hand took the opposite direction, the one which lead the side balcony stairs.

Hurrying down as I went straight to a small oak gate that leads to a garden behind the school— which I like to call, the secluded garden. It was a place that seem to have been completely forgotten. The weeds have grown almost to my knee, dried leaves was scattered everywhere.

From here, you can see a certain shack at the back of the dormitory, but it seems that this place isn't visible to that point. I tried to ask my acquaintances for some information about this for I only had found it just a few days ago, specifically, on Monday. Unfortunately, none of them knew what was I talking about.

As I got into the garden, I firstly picked a large stone, putting it above the small gate. With this I can be alarmed if one also knew about this secluded place. After placing the stone in balance. I strode towards the camphor tree. As always, the weeds were kind of poking me, but fortunately below the tree was nothing but a well trimmed grass bed. They don't seem to grow at all.

I sat on the ground as I fiddled with the ring on my middle finger removing it as I place it on my pocket.

"Much better." I muttered, as my hair changed from a muddy brown to a vibrant pink color. I took out the mirror that I put in between the book I bought along with me.

It was a plain circular mirror. I brought it up slightly enough height as my face, but focusing more on my other eye. The dark muddy color eyes faded into a golden color.

The mark...was still there. Well, at least it does not hurt in the least, but it was quite uncomfortable to see, since it was a mark that appeared on my pupil, making it unusual. It was small, however, quite noticeable.

No matter what I can think of, there was no plausible answers to the questions I've been asking myself. Why did I leaped without even using my ability, most of all why did this mark appeared out of nowhere. I couldn't understand, nor do I have any answers why this phenomenon happened.

My eyes wander, landing onto the shack behind the dormitory.

Oh.

There I saw three people that I am acquainted with in the banquet as well as in the class for they were my classmates most of all; Shiki, Rei and Remus.

Odd. I've never seen them since then, and I'm quite surprised that they have access to that shack. Student mostly avoid it because of the myth, it's says that a certain ghost lurks around there.

I shrugged, getting my phone out of my pocket as I browse through the school website. It's both accessible for students and teachers, they can also post tweets and stuff as well as send anonymous tweets. Articles and mostly unnecessary post can be seen on the website.

Nothing really interest me, I only ever read articles about the school or the articles regarding the outside.

As expected, Luna's condition was still the number one topic on the list. Will this ever die down?

The memory of Luna dying in my arms flashed before me. I took in air as I heavily closed my eyes sighing, shrugging off the unpleasant memory that I had experience before leaping back.

Now that I think about it, I went back specifically an hour after Luna lost her pulse.

Could it be...

***

"Still no pulse?" Asked Marvin to a medical team on his side as he was checking onto the papers onto the clipboard.

"Yes, quite odd, she's clearly breathing but there is no detected pulse, even if her core was working fine, if her heart wasn't... She is as good as dead. However, fortunately, she's alive and breathing."

Marvin read the papers page by page thoroughly, then glance over at the glass pane window in front of him. Inside was the unconscious body of Luna, with no pulse being detected by the machine on her side. However, the cloth above was moving up and down, telling them that she was indeed breathing.

He then handed the clipboard back to the person to his side. Marvin glance back towards the machine that is keeping track of Luna's pulse, just to see a green straight line staying still. Her heart wasn't really beating, yet she was still— fortunately alive.

With one last look the two of em went on their way.

Beep. Beep.

Flinching as they whish their head towards the unconscious student, then to the machine to see the line moving up and down, pertaining that Luna had pulse.

"My word..." Muttered the man with white cloth beside him.

Marvin's gaze was fixated to Luna's hand flinching as he could see her eyes fluttering. "She's waking up."

"Pardon?"

"She's waking up, hurry and call Gillian!"

The man who was with him scurried off in panic almost tripping on his way. Whereas, Marvin just watch the maiden as she successfully regained consciousness. Her head turn slowly from left to right.

Fascinating. Luna's pulse all of a sudden came back once she had regained consciousness, this made Marvin to be more curious about her. He has always been fascinated about this student after looking at her resume, her origin of birth was labeled as unknown.

Two years ago, someone else— a man with blonde golden hair had enrolled her as reported by the administration office, but the person did not reveal his name nor his relation towards Luna.

"I haven't really thought about this, but should we start to put her in suspicion?"

The moment Luna met eyes with a dull gray ceiling, she knew that she was not in the dorm anymore.

She turn her head side by side to see some recognisable machine that can also be seen in her own world.

'A hospital?...No, This is the infimary.'

Unlike the regular infirmary, the school has an underground infirmary-like-hospital. It isn't kept a secret, after all, it was discuss in the handbook that was given out in the orientation.

There was also a certain lab that was mentioned, but never really specified where it was located. Though Luna suspects that it was also built underground, just like this room.

Luna slowly got up from the bed holding her head, as a throbbing sensation flowed through, making her dizzy. It was perhaps a side effect of the Memoria that she had experienced.

Thinking back, it was a miracle that she got a hold of herself on such emotionally and mentally exhausting experience. Anyone would go sane our probably even get a certain trauma by the scenes shown to her.

"Hey, what's with that attitude?" The Deity replied, sighing as he then flash a smile afterwards. "Anyway, Welcome back."

"You made it sound like I got back from the dead." She jeered.

Despite the heart warming reunion, a translucent screen interrupted in. Showing additional information that she had regain from that [Memoria].

Luna's brows furrowed as she read the lower part of the screen.

'Huh? Fragments? Are you kidding me?! Are you saying I need to go through three more Memoria?!'

Her hand clutch onto the white fabric covering the lower half of her body, gritting her teeth, but then a smirk seep through her lips.

"Ugh, look at him smirk." Aella remarked, scrunching her nose as she watch Luna in front of her. "He's enjoying this, isn't he? Wasn't this supposed to be a romance game, why is it suddenly becoming a Thriller Action fantasy Game?"

"At least he's enjoying it, he is someone who seem quite uninterested in Love in the first place, beside he's more spirited than he was before."

"He looks stupid if you ask me, and why would you even choose someone who's uninterested in Love to be Luna to begin with?"

Agapius flinch, as Aella stared at her with a glare. He then turn his head to his left avoiding her flaring glare.

"Ah, that, well, er... it's a long story." He stuttered.

Aella let out an aggressive sigh, and just shook her head in disbelief.
