Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

"Now that introductions are done, I say we move on to a new topic." Said Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. to break the awkward silence.

"Er... Yeah!" Aerin said breaking away from a trance like daze, as if she couldn't get her head around the fact that Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. was from another word. "When you get to Mahodel, you should sign up to be an adventurer." She said as she started to guide Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. out of the forest to Mahodel.

"Why?"

"The guild would issue a card, which can act as your identification card, but being an adventurer is also a good way to become independent as some quests pay good." she replied in a prideful manner

"So what does being an adventurer entail?" Asked Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. in pure curiosity, as if it was something new.

"Depends. Some quests are simple and easy, like herb collection, while others are complex and difficult like monster subjugations. It's also a high risk, high reward kinda job."

"Sounds somewhat thrilling. Say, you know skills, how does one acquire more?" Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. asked as he began to fall into a rabbit hole of curiosity. "Also, what kinds are there? Do they have levels or growth stages? Do some of them combine to make new skills? Do some of them evolve into a completely new and superior skill?"

"Skills are gained from hard work generally. Some people are born with skills and others have a better affinity for a skill and learn it easier, but those kinds of people are one in a million. Skills are split into two types support and combat skills. However, others argue there should be 4 types, Support, combat, passive and active skills. Skills do have levels, though its all proficiency based, an example would be Fire Magic, a beginner at Fire Magic would only be able to use ignite and fire ball, where as a master could use beginner grade to master grade. Do some skills combine? I've heard rumours but never seen it with my eyes before. And some skills do evolve as long as you have maxed out your proficiency and have high enough stats."

As they were walking, Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. entered a trance like state of deep thought. He was Hypothesising about skill: Variation, Growth and Requirements. Creating many hypothesis in his mind, to later test. Before he knew it he was out of the forest and was on a dirt road that was leading to a rather large looking town fenced off with log walls.

As they got closer, he began to see it on more detail. Mahodel seemed to be a fort town. At its' centre was a fort, that fort was on top of a hill, though the size of the hill was closer to that of a bump. The houses were two stories high and made of wood. Though the first floor could not be seen from past the fence, it was obvious that it was made out of stone, while the rest of the house was made of wattle and daub.

"Is that Mahodel?" Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. asked to Aerin.

"Yeah. Though its on the outskirts of Bivar, its well developed compared to other villages in the area." She exclaimed as if she was boasting about her own achievement.

"Why does it look so primitive?" Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. asked in pure disappointment. "I would of thought, that you lots would be more advanced."

"What do you mean" Aerin asked from a proud to a dejected mood.

"Well, where I came from, the inhabitants lived on planetoids, and built mega cities on them. The buildings would be made from an alloy a hundred times stronger than steel. Our roads, were in the sky, and our mode of transport was varied. We'd have cars, vans, lorries, trucks and buses, that hover on our sky roads. At night, we have lights that light up the sky, making the night seem like day." Richard son of Richard Newgate Jr. said now in a boastful manner.

"Then what about magic beasts? How were you able to over come them?" Aerin asked with stars in her eyes, as if she were a little child with hopes to become a super hero.

"Magic beasts? What are those?"

"Monsters, they terrorise us almost everyday."

"We don't have those, unless u count chimeras."

"You had chimeras? What did u do to beat them?"

"We didn't, we made them ourselves, in labs, and kept them as pets."

"How did you do that?"

"Well first, we get some dog, cat, gerbil and fish DNA. Then the person chooses what other animal DNA they want to add. By doing so they get their own pet Chimera. If you ask me, its kinda boring with how they don't need to train them."

"Err... What's DNA?" Aerin asked with that glimmer in her eyes fading.

"Deoxyribonucleic acid. Its what makes you, you. Well that's the simple meaning."

"How does it do that?"

"Well, its like instructions for life, each set of three can encode for multiple things, like eye colour, skin tone, ear shape and many other things as well."

"Your world seems so magical. I'm jealous."

"Why would you be? Due to the people in power, it became very confusing, there you have to call people by gender neutral words like 'It' or 'They/Them', I lived in a very confusing time. I'd rather live here, where I can learn new things, whilst using archaic speech."

"Why did they want to be called like that?"

"Because of something stupid. They didn't feel like them, and decided to go against Gods plan."

"Blasphemy!"

"Quite so my friend. Though I ain't a religious man, I still don't offend those with religions."

"So what were the Gods of your world like?"

"Well that's a bit hard. You see we never met or seen them. Some believe in one God, where others believe in multiple others don't believe in one. Most people ended up conforming into one religion, which ended up being the most widely accepted religion across the galaxy."
