It was originally this soul that Lakyus had used to overpower the seals on the space and open a portal between the two worlds.
Of course before he can successfully escape, Nephylite froze the portal, preventing his exit. And then, the rest was history.
Although, he did suffer a bit due to that dragon soul. Which was unexpected even for him.
But that is the limit of his abilities. To actually freeze something, he has to know what that thing is and its function. And on Taurus, there is no concept or understanding of a soul. The most they understand is spiritualism that was followed by some tribes.
