Just as I was passing by the gate of the park, I saw an old lady standing by the traffic signal.

Seeing the old lady, I remembered the parts of a novel in which the protagonist lends a helping hand to an old lady, which turns into the pathway to heaven.
I kept staring at the old lady in with a conflicted conscience. I couldn't decide whether I should help her or not. I was stranded between two sides, whether to go or not to go.
But all of those ladies in the novel were either sweet or kindly. But looking at this old lady in front of me I couldn't help but get some villainous type of vibe. I felt creepy after having looked for quite some time.
But a sudden thought struck my mind, that what is the possibility of me climbing the stairway to heaven, if I help the old woman....
The probability of that happening is close to none right now since I couldn't see any vehicles coming from any side of the road.
So, ignoring all of the bad vibes I had been feeling and after having made a firm decision, I moved my legs towards the lady.
But just as I was going to reach near her, I saw another young man in his 20s getting near her. No matter how I looked at the guy, I thought that he was an idiot. His clothes, his hairstyle, his looks, sorry for judging but he literally looked like an idiot.

He took her hand and started crossing the road. Looking at the face of the old lady I could see that she was unwilling to cross the road, but still the man kept on pestering her and held her hand firmly.
Nearing the middle of the road I saw a car arriving very speedily and rashly. At that moment, I felt sad..... since someone else was going to receive a chance.
It was at that moment that I felt regretful of taking so much time to make a decision. Only if I had made a quicker response...
It would have been me in the place of that guy. But alas, I had missed the chance..
Leaving behind all the regrets, I looked forward towards the scene of someone transcending the heavens.... or hell maybe.
I saw the car driver as the vehicle approached somewhat near the lights. The driver sure looked horrified. Judging by his facial expressions I thought that there had been some malfunctioning with the vehicle. Either his breaks weren't working, or he had lost control of the car. It could also be possible that the guy was a noob driver who thought he could drive well...

The car neared towards the two of them. I was very eager to see what would happen. Seriously..... what has happened to me man. Shouldn't I just call out to them to get out of the way?
But I looked way too eager for something like that to happen. Just as I had this thought, I saw the guy looking towards the vehicle.
After that look I saw something horrifying.....
The guy pushed away the old woman and stood still with his hands wide open....
That scene would have been way too awesome of an ending for the guy to have. Just imagine how famous he would have gotten even after his death. News would have been like,
"Just yesterday a young man sacrificed himself in order to save the life of an old woman..."
Ummm.... but the thing that happened was something very different.
Just as the car neared the guy, the driver in order not to hit the young man, rotated the steering wheel very hardly... which in turn caused him to deviate from his original path and the target switched towards the old woman...
Then, it should not be hard to imagine what had happened.
The car hit the old woman and she drew an amazing trajectory in the air and flew straight towards the huge dustbin by the roadside.

When she dropped into the dustbin, the dustbin accepted the woman by closing its lid.
The car driver rammed the vehicle into the traffic signal just near me, and then dived out straight by breaking the front mirror.
The young guy who stood still with his closed didn't understand why he wasn't feeling anything yet. When he didn't feel any difference after quite some time, he opened his eyes and the saw the horror scene which he had created.
Logically speaking it was the fault of the driver that caused such an accident, but the scene which was captured in the closed-circuit television attached to the traffic signal said something different.
The scene showed that the young man forcefully grabbed hands of the old lady and dragged her to cross the road. When the guy saw the car coming towards him, he threw away the old lady to the side and started posing like some star showing a performance. This led to disrupting the directions of the driver already had no control over the car. Due to the young man standing in front the driver rotated the car towards left, but he couldn't see the old woman who was already lying on the floor and by mistakenly sent her flying.
This caused both, the driver and the old woman, dead on the spot. The sole survivor and the said perpetrator of the incident was sent to jail.
Having experienced such a horrifying incident, had a huge impact on my thinking. I was sure that young idiotic guy was just like me; a novel reader and a person who had huge belief in transmigration. And here I was feeling sad about having lost a chance. If I had been in the place of that person, I might have done quite a similar thing.
Just the thought of being sent to jail, having my life ruined by accident, sent shivers across my spine. I promised myself never to entertain such idiotic thoughts, even if I had to help someone it should be done with a clear mind.
The days after that incident were mostly boring.....
