Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Murder From Out of Nowhere

It's morning now. And the sun is shining above the sky as its rays hit the peaceful tides of the ocean, making it look like it's full of gleaming jewels. Truly is a beautiful scene.

As the waves splash and a few seagulls can be heard, two people are in a room, in their bed peacefully sleeping. Well, if one person snoring like a pig can be called peaceful that is. But besides the snoring on the other bed, Amari is still sleeping as if he's been used to this situation before.

He woke up soon after hearing the alarm on his phone turned off. He sat up on his bed after turning off his phone, still a little bit groggy from sleep. It took him 5 minutes before he was finally half-awake, and then he walked slowly to the bathroom to get himself ready for the day.

Having done all of his minor necessities in the bathroom, he got out and picked up his luggage, put it on the bed, and opened it. He then took out his clothes for the day and then went back to the bathroom to take a bath. Once he was finished, he walked out of the bathroom feeling fresh and clean. While wiping his face with the towel in his hands he tripped, but he luckily regained his balanced after holding on to the headboard of the bed.

He released a sigh of relief. He looked down to see what nearly tripped him.

It was a body.

A body of a stupid snoring pig.

The pig is still sleeping and snoring, he didn't even wake up after he had fallen off the floor, and if you look closely at his face, you could see a puddle of saliva coming from his mouth, spilling across the floor.

[ How could this man be the same guy as Aunty and Uncle's son that they are so proud of? ]

With a slight nudge of his feet, he tried to wake up the drooling man on the floor.

"Get up."

"Zzzzzzzzz"

Amari, "..."

"Wake up, we're going to be late if you kept on sleeping!" He tried waking up Tim again, but it still didn't work.

So he mercilessly stepped on the guy harder, "I said, get up!"

Feeling like he's being crushed by a herd of elephants, Tim jolted awake. "Wha-What? Huh?"

He dazedly looked around his surroundings before lifting his head to see Amari already dressed up, frowning.

"Are you awake now, Young Master?" Amari sarcastically said to Tim.

Tim ignored his sarcasm and groggily asked Amari what time it is.

Amari told him the time and even emphasized that they were already late.

"What?! Already?!"

Tim hurriedly got up from the floor, not even bothering about how he fell from the bed and the puddle of 'water' on it. He opened up his suitcase and randomly picked up his clothes, and went straight to the bathroom.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?!", he shouted from the bathroom while turning on the shower.

"Shit! It's cold!"

Amari scoffed at him and didn't answer him.

He turned around and went to grab his wallet when he suddenly stepped on something wet.

He didn't even have to look at it to know what it was when his face scrunched up from disgust.

He immediately grabbed a random shirt from Tim's luggage and tossed it on the ground disgustingly. He grabbed some wet wipes from out of nowhere and cleaned the soles of his foot.

Still feeling a bit disgusted about what he stepped on, he grabbed rubbing alcohol from his backpack and poured a good amount of it on his hands, and then used it to sterilize his feet. After feeling like it was already clean enough, he tossed away the used wipes on some nearby trashcan, poured some rubbing alcohol on his hand, and rubbed his hands clean.

Satisfied, he grabbed his things from the nearby table.

He sat down on the edge of his bed and picked up his phone from the nightstand.

He opened his phone and surfed the internet. When a news article with capitalized captions caught his eyes.

FOUR BODIES WERE FOUND DEAD NEAR XXX STREET

Now Amari isn't the type to be interested in any news, but he was particularly curious about this one since the location where the bodies were found was near his place.

He clicked on the article and diligently read it.

In the article.

Yesterday night, at 11 pm. A report was filed to the police station by an anonymous caller, saying that they seem to have found a hand sticking out from the shadows of an alley. The caller wasn't sure of what they saw at first so he decided to take a closer look at it.

Just taking a few steps into the alley the caller was now certain that what they saw was indeed a hand and connected to it was the limp body of a person.

The caller was terrified and fled the scene hurriedly. They then immediately called the police and reported what they had seen.

When the police arrived and entered the crime scene, they saw not just one, but 3 other more bodies a few feet apart from each other.

Seeing that there were other more individuals involved in the case, the police hurriedly called for backup and then investigated the crime scene.

Based on the investigation of the police, the corpses found in the alley were a group of adults, aging from 23 to 27 years old. The individuals have no connection to each other, but the police found out that they were the ones that were reported as missing people a few months ago.

One by one, all four of them were reported to have gone missing by their family members and friends.

In their further investigation, the police found out that the corpses have the same wounds on their body. All four of them were choked to death by their perpetrator, and when they examined the bodies of the corpses, their bodies were covered by stitches, as if their perpetrator have done something to them.

There was more information in the article, but Amari turned his phone off. Not interested in reading it any longer.

After tossing his phone to the side, he heaved a sigh and regretted that he opened the article. Nobody would want strange things happening near their place after all. It's terrifying!

But it was also a good thing that he did open the article. If he didn't, he might not have known that there was an accident there and he might have to go home with his guard down.

" What are you spacing out for? "

Tim was now done and dressed up. When he came out of the bathroom he saw Amari sitting on the edge of the bed, spacing out.

Amari, " Hm? Oh, it's nothing. I just read some news... "

Tim cut off Amari, " News? Oh! The murder of 4 people last night! "

Amari, " ....Yeah, that one. The location of the place is also near my flat so I'm a bit worried about it. "

Tim noticed that Amari's expression turned a bit grim. He always does that expression whenever death comes into the topic.

He reached out his hand and patted him on the shoulder.

" Don't worry about it. If you like, you can stay at my place for a while. It could still be a bit dangerous if you go back to your place tomorrow. The criminal is still on the loose so you might as well crash at my place. Besides, I bet Mom and Dad already know about this news and are probably going to ca-"

"...See? They're calling you right now."

Amari picked up his phone from the side and looked at the caller ID. And the caller was Tim's Mom.

He swiped the green button and shyly answered, "Hello. Aunty."

[ "Amari, sweetie! Oh, thank goodness you answered. Have you heard about the news!?" ]

Amari, "En. Don't worry Aunty Christine, I'm planning on crashing at Tim's place just until the police solve the case."

Hearing this, Christine let out a huge sigh of relief. She was really worried that Amari would go back home tomorrow while the criminal is still on the loose. She was even prepared to send a car along with a few bodyguards to the resort if Amari were to say that he was still planning on going back to his flat.

[ "Mm. That's good then!" ]

On the other side of the phone, Christine finally calmed down a little bit. She knows that Amari is not the type of person to lie so she trusted him wholeheartedly.

On the other hand, Tim, the biological son, has been completely forgotten by his biological mother. After realizing that they might still be busy with their day, Christine finally bid goodbye to both of them. When the call ended, somebody knocked on the door. Then a voice spoke from the other side with a slight hint of aggravation in its tone.

"Hello? Are the two of you awake now? We have to go for the hike, like, right now. You guys are the only ones left everyone is already in the lobby!"

Hearing this, Tim cursed under his breath.

"We're up! Just a sec we were just grabbing our things. Don't worry we'll head out soon after!" Tim replied.

He scratched the back of his neck and glanced at Amari. Signaling that they should go now. He then grabbed their key card and stuffed it into his pockets. After checking that they have everything they need for the hike, they went out of their room and closed it. They then hurriedly went to the lobby where everyone was.
