Well if I am going to be her companion I better make myself worthy of such a position. Especially since they have helped me and are essentially my adoptive parents for now.
"Hey Yua, can I help around? If I am going to be her companion I need to make myself worthy of it right?"
"Hahaha! This kid has a lot of guts now after surviving his attack he already want to help out!"
"Oh of course Coda, you can help in the back move item that is your size.
"Okay! Will do!"
I move into the backrooms of where the cleaning supplies are and realize I will be helping with janitorial stuff. Gonna be difficult with my height but regardless I shall slay the mighty beast of uncleanliness!
"So how many rooms are there Mr. Uchida?"
"Oh, about 20. Be careful in some of them they might be a little, oh who am I kidding. Good luck kid."
"What?! That's all the help I get?"
"You asked us to help around not for us to help you. Good luck!"
"Oh of course..." I sigh in disbelief.
He was said to have been a mercenary so I guess it could be worse than that. But I guess it is my time to shine!
-3 days later of working as a housekeeper-
I am sweating by this point, I don't know how I am sweating since I am a lizard but then again I am talking and standing on two legs so whatever...I have been scraping food crumbs, dirt, rounding up clothes, and even having to move furniture back into place. Housekeeping is hard when you have to do it several times a day. Luckily there are just 2 more rooms left for the day...
As I walk into it I emediantly smell something off. But I don't recognize it one bit. But I swear it smells odd. As I cleaned up the dirt on the ground I notice the clothes are shirts and pants which isn't out of the normal. But then I notice panties underwear and the thought hit me of the smell!
Ugh, so I am cleaning a room where some people did the deed huh...Do I have to clean this up I am still like 2 years old...
Thinking that I didn't want to clean I turn around and prepare to go downstairs to ask someone else to do it for me. Seems pretty odd for a kid to clean up that kind of a mess.
But when I open the door Lara is standing there. Did she need something?
"Oh! Hi uhm, how are you doing?" she asks me with eyes of cheerfulness."
"Oh doing good. Sort of. Working in this place takes the breath out of me but I am doing fine." I say while rubbing the back of my head ruffling some of my feathers.
I am always glad to speak to Lara she is so cheerful and pure. Also cause I might be getting sued for her surprise visits at random times of the day.
But now is not the best moment because the room behind me feels like a looming shadow of depravity in there...
"I uhm need to leave this room real quick I am tired for the day so." I try to casually brush the fact I am avoiding this room.
"Oh, I can help if you need it. I am sure you wouldn't mind if I help out a little," she starts to mumble under her last few words "and hang out with you..."
Wow, I guess she is wanting to hang out with me for a bit. But best not here or now!
She tries to walk into the room but I block her off and try to keep her in the dark of the situation. She can't know what is in this room!
"Oh, this room is a nightmare better I clean it up later alone. Thanks for asking though!" I start pushing her a bit away gently but not too aggressively. But she somehow gets past me by going under my arms. She is faster than she looks!
"Oh come on you have done a lot for us and me it is fine if I help here a th-ew whats the smell in here?"
"Wait!" as I try to stop her I trip over some pants by the door that the previous customers had left and I fall forward into the floor.
She starts picking up the broom walks around to the other side of the bed and notices the clothes. She looks at them and blushes a bit.
"L-lets get going, right?" she says hesitantly.
"O-okay, let us do this..." this is an awkward moment for us both.
-9 minutes later-
We both finish cleaning up the floor, replacing the sheats, moving all the dirty and icky clothes into a basket on the other side of the room away from us both.
We both stand side by side outside the door of the room and we stay silent for a few seconds. Very awkward. We both look at each other and smile a bit and laugh it off.
"Haha, I guess that was a bit weird to clean up right?" I speak with confidence
"Yeah, very weird. Maybe you should handle other jobs instead."
"Maybe" I hope this can be laughed off
I guess we can make moments like these fun though it was a little over the top. But let's go with this. I think I am starting to like her more and more every day.
"Hey Lara, do you know much about being a companion?"
"Uhm, yeah I do it's just awkward for me to think about"
"Well, what about me being your shield? Is that okay for us to be that way or do you not want that?"
"I uhm, I...its...I want us both to be companions to protect each other."
"I want that to."
We both want the same thing essentially. But does she want more than that? Every time we talk she is nervous and I feel it is because she likes me. Maybe more than that.
"Hey, do you want to go play outside?"
"Wha? Ye-yeah! I would love to!"
"Awesome!"
We both run upstairs and lock the door in order to play freely without me needing to leave yet. I wonder what we will do since I am not used to playing with people much when I got older in my previous life.
-12 minutes later-
We both decided to play with clothes but most of them were female so I had nothing to do. We got to ready. I got to wear some of the kimono's and she said I looked like a tomboy that was a caiman. I will take that a compliment now. But we laugh it off.
It was hard to due to my tail but since a kimono is like a nightgown in a way my tail can go straight down without putting a hole through it. Plus I would never ask her to put a hole through her clothing.
But my tail is still in a limited space to move so makes it difficult for me to walk less wobbly.
As I look at a mirror I notice how in a way we look like we could be potentially family. I am wearing a kimono for females instead of for males. But regardless I do look good in one.
"Hey do you think we both look good in these?" of course she would look in these I bet anything she puts on makes her cuter.
"Well, I think we both would look like a great couple. Not that we are just...appear as one."
Well it isn't bad if we are a couple. I think we match well since we both seem to enjoy the company of each other.
Lara seems to be anxious to ask something.
"Lara?" I can tell she wants to say something she is embarrassed about asking. likely about marriage.
"Hey, my parents kiss each other when they are around each other or greet each other. Do you think we..." she places her hands on her face and bends forward a bit.
This muffles her words a bit but I can still make them out clear as day.
"Do you think we could potentially kiss, you know just to try it out?" she gets the courage to raise her voice more boulder. But with still some hesitation behind it.
Is she asking me to kiss her? I mean she is doing it but...should I?
She turns over to me with her hands fiddling with each other. she wants a response but is afraid of what the response could be.
I...think I will kiss her. But how do I even kiss with this kind of physical anatomy I have. It is like kissing a crocodile but without aggression?
I turn towards her and hold her hands. I look into her brown eyes with my yellow eyes. I'm about to kiss her.
"Do you, wanna kiss me? Or I mean can I kiss you. I uhm. Sorry I suck at asking this." I start backing out but get stopped by her holding onto my hands still.
"I do want to but can we? What will my parents think?"
I doubt her parents are very against it since Yua and Mr. Uchida seem to never stop giving hints about us being companions.
I swallow down some of my saliva in nervousness but build up my courage. She closes her eyes but I don't think we are both ready for this. I decided to give her only half of what she expected.
I lean forward with my lips and carefully don't use my teeth in the kiss. I kiss her forehead softly as best I can and back out.
"Oh thank you but let me return it.:
She opens her eyes wide steps on her toes and kissed the tip of my snout near my nostrils. It somehow feels warm. I feel relaxed.
I think this is the beginning of a new life for me.
