Within the inheritance grounds, Rhys's body remained still, his eyes were open and hazy, his mouth slightly open. The face of someone who had given up. Naturally, that was because of the visions shown within his mind. It wasn't the worst, but neither the best.
Preparing oneself and actually experiencing it are very different things. Rhys had never gone through such things and he could not handle the visions he was shown. One must keep in mind this is only the 'easiest' vision. Meaning the others would be harder.
For example, now, his first vision was something he was unconsciously scared of. Being betrayed by his lovers, left for another man.
This was something any normal man would be scared of, so for Rhys to be afraid was only normal.
This is why Rhys felt horrible at what he saw and heard.
...
"Rhys, we do not love you." Aurora spoke as she hugged another man with a blurry face. No matter how hard he tried he could not see anything of the man's face. But he was naked and on the bed with his three women... or ex-women.
Rhys's eyes widened in shock, he had just returned after completing the inheritance trials. He had returned for his women, to be with them, but instead, he found himself finding his women sleeping with another man.
Rhys felt broken betrayed, and fury. He wanted to kill the man in front of him and the woman, who he once considered his lovers. He did so much for them, left them techniques, and spent his time for them. Yet the moment he left they got someone else?!
His mind wasn't clear, but very messy. He could not remember that Eternal Moon Spirits could only have one partner in their lives. If he knew this he would know what he was seeing was nothing but a lie.
Of course, this was nothing but a vision of something Rhys was scared of, he did not realize this as it seemed so real. Rhys did not even remember he was in a heart tribulation imposed by the trial of the Divine Eternal Moon Goddess.
Rhys's eyes flared with hate as his aura soared, "WHY!?"
His voice was filled with pain, but also grief. He felt like crying. Aurora smiled mockingly and spoke, "You think we would love you? Haha." Her laugh was very seductive, yet her eyes were cold.
Stella and Crystal divulged in pleasure with the man as Aurora spoke, their moans and the sounds of flesh slapping against each other were heard. Their pants and quenches were like stabs to Rhys's heart. He could not take what he was seeing, so he closed his eyes and covered his ears with his hands.
'No this can't be... no!'
Rhys denied the very things he saw. They loved each other, but because of his low self-confidence, mostly because of his past life, he was afraid of it happening, although he himself never thought of that, although he was not aware of it. The trial took advantage of this and showed it as a vision, to see whether Rhys would pass or not.
'It's fake... right. It must be! We spent over half a year together!' Rhys's conviction rose. He slowly regained clarity, but the sounds of them divulging in pleasure almost made that conviction break. Rhys gritted his teeth as he opened his eyes and stopped hiding, denying what he was seeing.
He knew it had to be fake, there is no way the time they had spent together was false.
His aura spread in the surroundings as he spoke with power, "Break!"
Crack~
Everything cracked, the walls, figures, and everything else. It cracked and was destroyed as Rhys slowly regained his sight, only to find himself in the real world.
His body was filled with sweat, his heart was pounding faster, his soul flame was making sure to keep his soul safe.
Rhys moved his tired eyes to look at the time left.
-6:22:48:12
'Almost two hours.. this was only the easiest tribulation I will be shown... I can't imagine what else might follow...' Rhys muttered as he realized he did not struggle as much. For it to take a bit over one hour was fantastic. At least for him.
Rhys made sure to catch his breath before he started walking forward again, he felt some hate for showing him such images. So Rhys was in a very bad mood.
Once he was in the middle of the hall he fell into another heart tribulation. His vision went dark before he found himself in a room, but he recognized the room. It was the room he first found himself in when he transmigrated as Rhys.
He woke up again and saw himself wake up, except, it was not him. But the original Rhys. The way he acted was much different than himself.
'What is this?!' Rhys realized this was the heart tribulation, but he did not understand why he was being shown this.
As Rhys woke up he saw Ailin and Edea walk in.
"Mother, sister." Rhys greeted them warmly, unlike the transmigator who did not want to call them 'mother' or 'sister.'
"Brother!" Ailin jumped towards the original Rhys and hugged him, she rubbed her face against his chest as she cried slightly, much more different than when the transmigator woke up.
Edea simply smiled at seeing their affection for each other. "My child, who hurt you? You were unconscious in the forest."
Edea's voice was filled with adoration, as Ailin also looked towards Rhys.
"I do not remember mother." Rhys spoke, the transmigator was shocked. The original Rhys was poisoned. So how was he alive!?
"I see..." Edea's eyes flashed with slight killing intent before it vanished.
...
The transmigator went on to see Rhys's daily life with Edea and Ailin, how it could have been without himself taking over.
The transmigator finally realized why he was shown this. It was to show him what he ruined, the life that was perfectly normal was completely tarnished when he took over Rhys's body.
He saw the smile of a family, something he never had, what he craved for. Something he took away, even if he acted like Rhys, he knew it would not be the same.
In fact, he made Ailin cry when he chose to leave to train, he destroyed a family. At least that was how the transmigrator saw it.
Their lives progressed slowly, although Rhys could not go far in cultivation because of his talent, yet he was blessed when he found a heavenly treasure that gave him a system. Helping him rise to power. He obtained stronger bloodlines, ultimate treasures, and more.
'Isn't these things the traits of main characters?...' The knowledge of fantasy was not low, since the scientists back in labs would at least provide him those things to keep his mind from breaking.
'Aah... I ruined it all.' The transmigrator thoughts as he saw Rhys become supreme, unrivaled. With his mother and sister at his side, he ruled.
The transmigrator was forced to see their happy moments, their tragic ones. But throughout it all, he could not help but lament that he had ruined it all.
'If I had not taken over his body... wouldn't he be happy? Would he not die? I'm sure it was my intervention that made his fate end up dying. Therefore allowing me to take over the body of Rhys...' The transmigrator did not realize that this was all nothing but a mirage, an illusion. After all, the original Rhys was fated to die, whether he took over or not.
The transmigrator was slowly broken, the will he had built in his short new life was breaking down, realizing what he had done. After all, he was shown what things could have been like if not for him.
'Ahahaha!'
In the end, he could not help but laugh. His laugh was crazy. Not the normal one. But a very deranged laugh. It is as if he had lost his mind.
The transmigrator grabbed his head with his hands as he laughed, tears running down his face, his ghost-like figure that simply watched Rhys's life twisted. His original life's appearance that was that of his original life became darker.
In the end, even if he knew this was nothing but a trial. The transmigrator could not help but laugh crazily at the thought of ruining the perfect life for the original Rhys.
Their happiness was ultimately ruined by him. In this 'original' future there was no Jade ring, no Ina. He never left for training, he did not meet Aurora, Stella, and Crystal. Everything was different.
Even though it was nothing but a vision, the transmigrator knew that since there was no way for Rhys to not be poisoned and die.
"HAHAHA." He started laughing out loud at some point, yet his voice was not heard. He was nothing but a ghost, he could see but not interact. He was forced to see everything he could accomplish with his inheritance.
It was unknown how long the transmigrator laughed, but when he stopped. His eyes were not crazed, nor deranged. It was completely, and utterly calm.
'Well I might have ruined such a life, alas, I was chosen. For some stupid reason. Which is why I will make no mistakes! I will return to them. Then meet Ailin and Edea!'
The transmigrator, no, Rhys thought as his spectral body changed to that of Rhys's his original appearance being replaced. His body slowly stood up.
With eyes filled with hate, he spoke. "So let me out of this place to meet the woman I left waiting!"
Srhng!
Crack~
The visions he was shown cracked as the world turned dark. Like that, Rhys had passed his second heart tribulation. Albeit it almost got the better of him. There is no way the current Rhys, the transmigrator did not feel regret for taking over this body.
Rhys's eyes slowly regained clarity as he found his body was kneeling. The trial was still ongoing, so Rhys made sure to look at the time.
-4:17:23:34
Rhys was shocked, the second vision took him that much time to break!? But then he remembered they would only get harder.
'Almost one or two left until I pass this trial.' Rhys thought as he stood up and took a deep breath.
Walking towards, with no hesitation. He had no idea what he would be shown but he knew no matter what it was, he would have to break it no matter what.
He knew it would be harder, the previous fury for what he was shown the first time was replaced with wariness. He would not take any chances.
Rhys's step was slightly shaky, but it soon calmed down. The closer he got to the end the faster his heartbeat was. He did not know when the 3rd vision would be shown.
For all he knew he could be in it, after all, it does not need to make him see other things. It could show him everything here. To trick him.
Foo~
A breath left Rhys's mouth as his tensed body tensed even further when he saw that he was at the end of the trial, except there was a bit more left before he 'finished.'
'One more.' Rhys clenched his teeth, calmed his heart and mind before he took a step forward, and just as he thought. His vision went completely dark. Once more he was thrown into another vision, a tribulation directed at the heart.
Thud~
Rhys heard his own heartbeat in his ear from how tense he was, he felt nervous at what he would be shown. It would be a lie if he said he wasn't 'afraid' of being shown something he might not forget or get through. He did not have much experience in tribulations, the memories he inherited from the original Rhys and Swarshlen were much, much more different.
After all, tribulations are only experienced when one ascends, makes a technique, or something similar. Since they will be judged by the will of the world they are in.
