The same undead soldier returned to collect Genevieve's corpse, but just like before, it had to go back empty-handed. Genevieve lay on Anatilda's lap and fell asleep. The old vampire continued to affectionately caress her hair, her eyes drooping with concern.
Anatilda was half-hearted and afraid that Markle had sent Genevieve to trick her into giving him what he wanted, but the other half of her was more worried if Genevieve had been sent as a victim. But she had not died, and Markel, who had never actually met her child, might be bothered by something.
...If I let Genevieve go back, it must be doubtful that this child may have been tortured or killed…
…and that child might not be safe...
"I don't want an evil person like him to take away my treasure, but maybe I don't have a choice," Anatilna muttered to herself.
Anatilda let Genevieve sleep in her chair, and the skinny figure rose because she had important matters to attend to.
The old woman took out a glass bottle the size of her little finger, then cut her blood with her fingernails into the bottle.
"With the blood of the Death Goddess and the Divine Blood circulating in my body, I bestow immortality and power over all the inhabitants of darkness to my successor, Jakuiccente," Anatilda recited the spell directed on the bottle of blood. It shone brightly, turning the dark, almost black blood into a bright red.
Minutes after Anatilda's mysterious ritual, Genevieve woke up to a familiar sound. Sonata called her in front of the cage, with Anatilda standing in control.
"That's it, wake up," Sonata sighed in relief. "I'm a friend of Genevieve. Try asking her for yourself."
"This young man said he was your friend," Anatilda said.
"I've never seen him before," Genevieve replied.
"Oh, hey!" Sonata almost groaned accidentally.
"Then I'll call the guards."
Sonata hastily made excuses for the skirmish. He guessed she was angry that he came back to help instead of continuing to find the key. Sonata hurriedly explained that he thought the key should be with Markel and that he had already done other errands. There was no reason for him and her to stay in this town.
"I'll explain to you along the way. We have to escape before they catch me. I'm not in a cell anymore," Sonata finished, pulling out the device he had hidden in the blink of an eye to cut through the bars. Surprisingly, he had hidden it without the Revarants even realizing it.
"Does this young man know you, right?" Anatilda asked, her tone devoid of hostility. With her age, it was evident that Sonata was not lying.
"Mom, let's run away together," Genevieve said, worry etched on her face.
"I'll be your counterweight," Anatilda replied. She did not yearn for freedom, knowing that someone had always wanted the blood of this spell.
"That idiot caught you and imprisoned you because he wanted this. How can I get it?" Genevieve asked.
"Take it. It can be a gift from this mother," Anatilda replied.
These words brought tears to Genevieve's eyes. Some people might not understand how such a short time had made her so attached to Anatilda, but it was the warmth of a mother that she had been waiting for.
"Go, and even if you don't forget that I am your mother, don't even think about coming back here," Anatilda said one last time. Even though her face was plain, Genevieve knew that Anatilda was grieving. Genevieve released her hold and hugged the old woman one last time. She quickly wiped away her tears and pulled Sonata's hand, urging him to hurry her out.
As she ran, Genevieve looked forward and told herself she would not look back at Anatilda.
Even though she did not see it, she knew that the old woman would shed tears as she watched her leave. Even though she seemed to represent someone else, it ripped Anatilda's heart, who had always harbored hopes of meeting that person. She did not know whether that person was alive or dead in this world.
**--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------**
One man and one girl were running in the dark with the man leading the way. He took a short time to create a detailed map of the city, showing the location of the armory - a place to create more undead - and the Castle of the Three Leaders. In addition to the address of the key, he had all the coordinates.
"There is a secret passage ahead. In a few hundred meters, we will be back in the maze."
But then he slowed down. Genevieve was aware of some anomalies and remained silent, not saying a single word, knowing that Sonata was focusing on something.
"They already know…"
This time was different from the previous siege. The Revarents were not particularly prepared to attack the Sonata. Many kinds of Undead stood in the way. Sonata did not wait for the other party to be ready. He and Genevieve leapt into the siege. Sonata began to imitate their abilities. Genevieve, with her experience, knew the weaknesses and gaps to attack when facing the undead. She stabbed them with the weapon returned from the Sonata with decisiveness and precision.
"The generals have not yet arrived. You have to circumvent them before it gets worse," Sonata said as he captured a Necromancer. He hit the other party almost to the point of exhaustion, and then began to increase the number of his allied undead at high speed. From one to ten, from tens to hundreds in just a few moments.
Genevieve kept a good distance from Sonata. She blamed herself for causing Sonata to be captured before and vowed not to cause him any more trouble.
Sonata was able to take control of hundreds of undead. But the number was stopped there. Most of the remaining undead were vampires and armored demons that he could not control.
The situation worsened when Briden came with his Death Knight. An angry ex-prince rejoiced when he saw Sonata escaping from prison. He had no revenge until he killed Sonata with his own hands.
"Heaven's in my heart. I think I'll run out of chances to kill you," the prince, who had become an undead, leapt at him. He frantically swung his sword at Sonata, but it was not a random attack. His Atezia's Sword Art had taken a step further.
A giant axe was hurled from Sonata's back at the same time. He almost missed a move because he could not quite capture the feeling. It was as if the giant figure of King Boarman was not there.
"I'm Griff, the Boarman King," said the wild boar's head monster, snorting.
The enemy in front of them came endlessly. Dealing with both Briden and Griff was bad, but it was still not the worst. However, when Kronox, Dark Jester, and Markle arrived, the real catastrophe began.
Genevieve knew that Sonata could not fight at all. He still looked anxiously at her. The Undead he was controlling were rapidly depleting. Soon, he would be afraid that she would become a target.
The girl looked at the glass bottle in her hand with hesitation. It was the last card she had left. If she used it to negotiate with Markel, maybe…
"Stop," Genevieve held up a bottle of blood. She deliberately held it up for Markle to see.
Markle immediately knew what it was. Using his mental strength, he ordered everyone to stop and opened the way for him to approach Genevieve.
"How did you get this?" Before Genevieve could answer, he continued. "This is it."
"Be careful, this guy can read minds," Sonata warned Genevieve.
"Don't come any closer. Otherwise, I'll throw it to the ground to break it," Genevieve warned. She slowly walked backwards until she was close to Sonata.
"Give it to me," Markle hypnotized Genevieve. She fell into a trance and was about to step out to find Markel, but a split second later, Genevieve came to her senses.
"Don't be such an idiot," Sonata grabbed Genevieve's wrist. He was the one who intervened with Markel's powers.
"If you give it to me, I can let you escape," Markle argued. His words made Kronox so furious that he had to hit the ground with his skeleton sword.
"This guy's a liar," Sonata whispered, his superpower clearly indicating that Markel never thought of letting his enemies escape.
Genevieve had no idea what she was thinking at the time, perhaps due to despair, the feeling of wanting to protect what Anatilda had to offer, or just the thought that if she could not survive, she wanted to try her luck. She had made a decision that Sonata could not stop herself from doing.
Genevieve opened the bottle and drank all the red blood in one go. Markle tried to stop her with the vampire's superhuman speed, but Sonata decided to block it with almost no difference in movement. Markel's claws were stopped by Sonata's feet just a foot before they reached Genevieve.
Just as the blood flowed through her throat, she suddenly convulsed. Genevieve died in that moment, and before her body fell, her heart, which had stopped beating, was reactivated. The glowing red blood had affected every cell of her body. Every molecule of her soul was being reborn with incredible speed.
Ordinary people, after receiving blood from a vampire, will develop blood poisoning. In some cases, it takes several hours to die, and after that, it often takes hours or days for them to be resurrected as vampires. But it was not the case with Genevieve Swans.
The magical blood from the vampire queen transformed her into a vampire in no time. More frighteningly, she was also a special vampire.
