Shay drifted off to sleep, with Porshe's words echoing inside her mind. When her eyes opened again, the pain was gone from her chest, and her body felt much better. This was a familiar feeling for Shay. It was the feeling of surpassing one's limit and reaching a new summit. Porshe was already in the room running the second set of tests to check for sequelae and hidden injuries.
"How am I?" she asked.
"So far, so good," Porshe responded without meeting her gaze.
"Can I rejoin the battle?" Shay asked the most important question.
"You can, but I recommend you rest for another few hours. Should your body receive another significant shock in your current state, the damage will be much greater than you suffered before," Porshe warned in a defeated tone. She knew her words would simply go in one ear and come out the other.
