"Then why are you here?" Shay forcefully calmed herself but didn't lose her hostility. It was obvious from her statement that she didn't come here with good intentions. This girl must be lying. Why would she try to kill herself? Yes, the thought came to mind, but her mother... she was on her way to see her mother, not kill herself.
Shay's line of thought caused the hostility she felt towards Ari to increase significantly. Her anger flared, and she rose to give this conniving bitch a piece of her mind when Ari spoke.
"I have a proposition for you." Shay paused. " I want you to live. I want to be your friend."
Shay's eyebrow, that had just come down from her hairline, shot back up. "What? Why would y-"
"Because I'm just like you," Ari replied as she turned to stare into Shay's eye. Shay saw something in Ari's eye that she couldn't quite read.
