Kayla didn't know what to say to him anymore and luckily the bell rang so Parker left without saying anything. The rest of the day went smoothly and Kayla was really enjoying the peace. It made her realize how much she missed her introverted life without anyone constantly bugging her. She realized how much of a superficial life she was living till now, just so she could fit in with the rest of the puzzle pieces. She was different and she was slowly starting realize it.
At the end of the day Cherry and Cosmos rushed to her seat. "K! Let's head home!" Both of them said at the same time. "With both of you?" Kayla asked while giving a small smile. "Hey! Back off! She's my friend. And I have not been able to spend a lot of time with her nowadays." Cherry began. "So? It isn't my fault that you don't hang out with her. She always goes home with us so you back off." "As a girl she will be able to connect with me more." "Then was she not bonding with us till now?" "How will I know?" "Exactly you won't know." "Oh c'mon stop acting childish. Me and Danny want to hang out with her." "Your the one who started it so, you're the childish one here." "Shut up will you?" "Nope." The two of them kept on throwing nasty glances at each other while Danny and Parker watched silently. "How about we hang out together?" Danny finally began when Cherry and Cosmos didn't stop. "With her?" Cosmos said haughtily. "You wish." "Hey! It's not like I'm dying to hangout with you too. I'd rather go fishing with my dad than be with you." "Then what's stopping you?" "You little -" "Cherry you have made enough scene today. You don't need another one." Danny said in a serious tone which made her stop. "Guys let's go together." Kayla finally stepped in. "With him? Girl that's a hard pass from me. Ways I'll see you tomorrow. Bye girl take care." Cherry and Danny left the scene while Cosmos slyly smiled at his win. "Now let go before someone else steals you from us." Cosmos happily began walking with Kayla's bag.
"He's really childish." Kayla began. "I know but what can I do? He's a great guy after all." "That. I agree." "Let's go." Parker said while extending his hand while Kayla just stared at him. "Oh sorry. Forgot about my promise." Kayla gently smiled at him and then the two of them left for their home.
"K?" Cosmos couldn't bear the awkward silence anymore so he started talking. "Yeah?" "Wanna come over at my place?" "Why?" "I don't know. I just want you to come over." "Sure. And before I forget, here." "What's that?" "It's a bomb." "What?" "Obviously it's a present so take it, will you?" "I know that too." "So why are you asking then?" "Why are you suddenly giving me this?" "Oh. Isn't it your birthday today?" "Yeah. But how did you know?" "I saw it in one of your albums, the last time I was at your place. Hope you don't mind." "No it's okay and thanks." "No worries." Cosmos gently placed the gift in his bag and hugged Kayla.
As soon as Kayla reached her home she noticed that the house was empty so she quickly changed her clothes and started the cleaning the place. After she was done, she headed straight for Cosmos' house. She was about to knock when she heard some noise. She didn't wanted to act a like a freak but she didn't had any other option as curiosity was killing her inside so she went to check in from the window. She peeked inside to see Cosmos' dad giving him a gift and some money. Cosmos kept on denying the gifts but his dad didn't listen to him and quickly left.
Kayla entered the house after five minutes and saw that Cosmos was quietly sitting on the couch. "Cosmos? What are you doing?" Cosmos broke from his trance and smiled widely while looking at her. "K. Come sit here. I've got some awesome news to share." "What is it?" Kayla replied while sitting down. "It's my first time receiving a gift from my dad!" "Wow! Really? What did he give you?" "A new phone and he even gave me some money to celebrate my birthday. He wanted to stay but he had a business meeting to attend so I guess it's just the three of us." "I'm so happy for you." "And it's all thanks to you." "How?" "Believe me or not but since the day we became friends my luck has drastically changed. You're like my human lucky charm." "That's sweet of you to think that way. So, when's Parker getting here?" "He said he was on his way. Let me order some food in the meantime." "Cosmos let's watch a horror movie okay?" "Sure if you want to hear more screams from me than the movie." "That or we could watch a psychopath documentary. How about that?" "As long as it keeps me away from the jump scares I'm down for it." "Great then let me set the mood." "Hey!" Kayla turned to see Parker standing infront of the door. "You're just on time. We were about to start the movie." "Oh that's good." Parker sat down on the couch while Kayla started choosing from the options. "The food will be here in 20-30 minutes so let's wait. Oh hey Parks!" "Hey dude! Here this is for you from me and my mom." "Dude you shouldn't have." "It's not anything big." "Woah! You brought me a ton of my favorite snacks." "My mom decided that so I went with it." "Bruh this is the best gift. Say thanks to your mom." "Sure." "That reminds me of K's gift. I still haven't opened it so let's do it now." Cosmos excitedly took out the wrapped gift from his bag and opened it to find Cosmos and his mom's photo taken when he was just born, in a frame but it was completely restored as if it was just taken a few minutes ago. "I know I shouldn't have taken that photo without permission but I-" "K! Thank you so so much. I couldn't have asked for anything else. I'm really thankful to you." Cosmos kept on hugging her while he wiped away his tears. "So you're not angry at me for taking it without your consent." "Why would I be angry when I am falling for it. You're really my lucky charm. I love you!"
