After a hour of consoling Kayla, Cosmos took her out for a stroll. "K?" "Yeah?" "You should throw that blade away." "I can't" "Because it makes you feel better? But you know something, the happiness that you feel at that moment is very short and it will slowly but surely consume you." "I will be happy if it does." "K, you have alot to live for. " "Like what?" "Like seeing yourself in a better life." "And when will that be?" "Maybe in the future...Look I suck at this kind of comforting stuff but I know one thing for sure. You're having a hard time and it seems like it will never end and during this kind of time you will desperately want support and someone you can rely on. Lucky for you, you have a handsome guy standing right by your side so why not rely on him." Kayla smiled and replied. "Everybody leaves." "Not me. Not in this life." "As if." "You don't believe me?" "No" "Then live your life and see if I'm in the future or not. And if I'm not there then search for me and beat the crap out of me." Kayla nodded as a response and for the first time in her life she felt like she could really lean on someone.
Parker had just reached his home when he heard loud noises from the living room. He quickly dashed to see what was going on when he saw that a woman and her five year old son were crying and begging at his mom's feet. "Please leave my husband. I'm begging you! If you don't pity me then please look at my son's face. He won't have a father when he grows up and I won't be able to provide for him because I don't have a job. My husband is the one that provides for us. Who will we rely on? Mike has been asking me for a divorce and when I didn't agree with him, he started beating me like a dog. He is persistent on being with you so please can you just leave him. Please Miranda! You're a good looking lady yourself, you'll find someone else. Spare him for me!" The woman miserably sobbed. "Why should I care? He's been paying my bills and if I leave him then how am I suppose to survive? Should I beg like you? I also have a son to raise. You're not the only one with problems here!" That is when Miranda took notice of her son who was silently watching them. "Parker, when did you come home?" The woman quickly ran towards Parker and held on to him tightly. "Young man please help me! Tell your mom to leave my husband! Please I'm desperate!" " Get your hands off my son!" Marinda pulled the woman off Parker and pushed her on the floor. The five year son wailed while his mother helplessly wept. "Parker go to your room." Parker didn't listen to his mom and walked towards the kid. "Hey!" Parker began in a soft tone. The kid looked at him while sniffing. "What's your name?" "Mi-mike." "Mike you wanna play a game?" "Y-yeah." "Okay. Close your eyes and cover your ears and count till ten." "Okay" The kid did exactly what Parker told him and Parker picked up the boy and took him to the kitchen. When the little boy was done counting Parker gave him some snacks and drink and told him wait for five minutes to which the kid agreed. Parker went back to the living room and helped the lady up. "Mam? Are you okay?" "Yes." "Do you want something to drink?" "No I'm fine." "Mam I'll make sure that my mom leaves your husband but can you guarantee me that your husband won't do the same thing again? Can you guarantee that he won't ever beat you again for another woman? Can you guarantee that he will love you? Can you guarantee that your son will be able to live peacefully? Can you guarantee that your life won't be even more desperate than this? And most importantly can you guarantee that you will be happy?" The woman was speechless and couldn't say a word to defend herself but deep within she knew that Parker was right. She thanked him and left with her son. "Gosh! I thought that she would never leave." Parker's mom said while drinking wine. Parker stared at his mom frustratedly and spoke. "I'm so disappointed in you." Parker left the house after saying that.
Cosmos was sneaking inside his house when suddenly his dad appeared out of nowhere and showed up infront of him. "And where have you been?" "I was with a friend dad." "Who?" "Kayla." "What were you guys up to at this kind of hour?" "Nothing dad. We were just talking." "Talking? I see. Now, you can talk with my fists." With that Cosmos's dad landed a blow on Cosmos's face and kicked him on the leg which made Cosmos loose balance and fall down. His father than started kicking and slapping him until Cosmos started bleeding from his nose and lips and after that he left saying that he had to leave for a business trip and wouldn't be back home for a while. After a few minutes since Cosmos's dad had left someone opened the door and walked inside. "Cosmos!" Kayla ran towards him and gently lifted him up. "Cosmos are you okay? Do you want water?" Cosmos was way too exhausted from the beating that he couldn't even properly look at the person infront of him. "Mos! I-" Parker had just entered the house when he saw Cosmos in a terrible condition and Kayla sitting beside him. "What happened to him?" Parker asked Kayla. "His father beat him up." Kayla replied through her clenched teeth. "Let's take him to his room." Parker carried Cosmos to his room and laid him on his bed while Kayla bought the first aid kit and started putting ointments on the cuts and then started icing the bruises.
Kayla and Parker were sitting on the sofa while Cosmos slept in his room. "K?" "Yeah?" "What are you doing here?" "I was smoking outside my house when I saw Cosmos's dad leave so I quickly rushed over to find him curled up in pain." "Oh." "And why are you here?" "I just wanted to sleep at his place." "Because of your mom?" "Yeah." "Then what are you waiting for?" "What?" "You came here to sleep so why aren't you doing that?" "I don't think it'll be that easy." "You want me to sing a lullaby?" "Geez no." "Then go to sleep." And with that Kayla dragged him to Cosmos's room and made him lay beside Cosmos. Kayla silently watched him until he fell into a deep slumber and after she made sure that he was really asleep she left for her home.
