Elli had red cheeks, she sighed internally before open her eyes and glancing at Emmy then looking away.
Seeing the maid that had washed them, brown hair, fox ears, and a swinging tail. Her hands cupped together her head resting on it, mouth semi open.
'A pervert.'
'But the water.. so clear.. last I saw both Emmy and I were powdered in dirt.. how, in, the, new, magical world.. does this work.'
'Information is power. I need to gain as much as I can.'
"Excus-"
'!!!' Shocked by the sound of her own voice she looked down, it sounded just like Emily's voice when she was eight.
Elli looked back up at the maid shyly, "Excuse me where are we?"
. . .
"There are around seven that are fit to be heroes, one every five groups. And a few hundred future elites, not bad, not bad at all Turvas."
"There may be more, we haven't checked on the beastkin yet."
A huge set of grand double doors opened at the flick of Turvas hand. Revealing a large group of people all with animal features. Standing next to a personal servant provided for them.
All of Elli's and Emmy's questions were answered by the maid named was Chalia provided she could. They were in the kingdom of Elith on the Lithe continent, there were seven continents just like earth but looking at the map the shapes were different from that of earths.
The name of the planet, plain, world, whatever you want to call it; is called Nal.
'It seems they've "summoned" us for military power and an experiment to advance magical knowledge. Their clearly a group of cultist to me, do they think I'm dumb? Where do they expect me to think this body I'm using came from?'
'In this world there are three powers according to Chalia, the first is a form of martial arts; I'm guessing it's like chi martial arts like some wuxia movie. It's even fit with it's own qi gather stages type labelling, I didn't bother to remember it by heart in the short time she told me about this.'
'The next is the ability you're born with, your gift; blessing; whatever. Thought it could be something big like controlling a concepts like time or space, or a small as learning new languages slightly faster. They're graded from a power level digit 0 to 10 most people are around 0-3, using it in a fight would be maybe around 4-6, to be a military asset would be around 7-8, people with the levels 9 to ten are the type that can solo armies. Any higher is the realm of god.'
'Last is magic, magic is determined by the knowledge one has and the study of the world. One needs talent and dedication to go down this path... or not really, most people know at least a little bit of magic in this world. It's just that most people don't know everything about it so they can't adapt to each situation.'
While running through this in his head Elliot had gotten in a line that lead to a purple robed figure. She was followed by Emily and Chalia. The Robed figure was passing out thin paper slips and writing things down in this book.
The ability test slip.
Elli watched as the papers burnt to ash, became soaked, split in two, many other strange phenomenon occurred. But numerous people had nothing.
"Next!"
By the time the trio had reached their turn, the purple figure had been swapped out by the red robed girl, 'Chloe' Elli recalled. 'Guess their hand got tired after writing so much?'
"Just hold this and focus on it."
She said handing over a thin slightly yellow slip of paper smaller then a sticky note.
Well Elli did just that!.. and... nada. nothing. Elli furrowed her brows, extra test were done by Elli, she had tore it, licked it, dropped it. Chloe scoffed taking half of the paper that was left as Elli walked away with his head down.
"Next."
If there was anything about odd about the paper, it's that it fell somewhat oddly when she dropped it, it fell slowly like it was taunting her?
Emmy too had done the same, a pout formed when nothing had happened to her paper too. But it soon faded when she wrapped her tail around Elli and held his hand.
Elli was confused, Emmy was never this clingy before. 'Maybe she just misses me?'
"Don't be upset kids, gifts aren't the be all end all and the mana paper test isn't too good at catching some gifts. Just look at my gift of cleaning! You can still be a knight or better yet.. Just live with me!~ "
Chalia's ears stuck up.
"Like we'd trust a sly looking fox."
"Yeah Elli! Let's go look around!~"
Emmy tugged on Elli's arm dragged her away.
Perhaps their new bodies had made them more childish..
Chalia's ears drooped down, a frown on her face as she chased them.
. . .
"Only six future elites in the whole of the demi-human groups, to be expected huh Turvas."
"The demi-human group was the smallest group, so that is only the most likely outcome."
Turvas opened a door, walking through it, a room with books littering the floor revealed itself to him.
He signaled for a teenage boy with golden hair and blood red eyes to come in and for Chloe to leave.
A multitude of vials littered his desk with papers and scrolls alike. Books piled taller then himself were common. Though the room was large, the pure volume of books had made it cramped.
"Can you try and use your gift on this?"
Turvas took out a red stone, it looked like a rube, yet darker, like it was dyed in blood, it looked like dark jade through red tinted glass.
"Sure."
Indifferent and uncaring, he picked up the stone and easily focused his will onto it.
Turvas's right eye twitched under white cloth. He quickly snatched the stone back and began to examine it intensely.
