Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The residents of Mondstadt peered into the sky in awe as a figure with a long braid flew through the air. They could not help but stare at his grace as he smiled down at them.

Aether landed on the ground, giving his sister a high five. "Great job, Aether!"

"Thank's Lumine!"

Amber looked at the two happy siblings with a grin. "I'm so proud of you guys! I can officially give you your gliding license. We just need to head by the Knights of Favonius Headquarters to get you set up."

As they were walking, Paimon was talking nonstop. "Paimon is so hungry! Sticky honey roast would really hit the spot! Or maybe fisherman toast! Hurry up, Paimom wants to eat at Good Hunter!"

Aether snorted, "Don't worry Paimon, we'll make sure to feed you. Have to make sure our emergency food is nice and stuffed."

Paimon's face turned red as she pouted. "Hey!"

They burst into laughter at Paimon's cute face. "Now-now Aether, don't say that."

Paimon crossed her arms, feeling as if she had won she said, "Thank you!"

"She couldn't possibly be enough emergency food for the two of us. I wonder if we can find another Paimon so we both have our own," Lumine said with a mischievous look.

"Not you too, Lumine," Paimon yelled as she was huffing and puffing in the air.

Amber was giggling nonstop, she could barely get her words out. "Stop! Stop! I can't handle it, my stomach hurts so much."

"You guys!" Paimon whined in front of the Knights of Favonius Headquarters.

They all wiped their tears, finally giving the poor fairy a break. "Ok guys, you need to fill out some paperwork. Then we'll take your picture with a kamera."

As they were walking through the main hall of the building, they crossed paths with a blue-haired knight. "Look what we have here, our Honorary Knights."

"Hello Captain Kaeya," Amber greeted with a salute.

Kaeya gave the group one of his signature smirks. "What are you guys up to?"

Paimon bounced in the air, saying, "We're getting our gliding license!"

The twins looked at each other with smirks. "We're? Our gliding license?"

"Paimon was a part of it!"

"We don't remember you taking a gliding exam with us."

Paimon puffed out her cheeks, yelling, "I was support!"

Kaeya walked over to Aether with a chuckle. He stood in front of Aether, bending his waist to look into other's eyes. "You wouldn't mind if I joined you, right?"

Aether gave him a gentle smile, causing Kaeya's heart to feel strange. "Of course I don't mind."

Lumine moved her hands onto her waist as she stuck out her hip. "I guess being Cavalry Captain doesn't make you very busy."

The side of Kaeya's lip lifted into a smug look. "The title of Cavalry Captain is nothing to get excited about. Now that I think about it, the Grand Master took all the cavalry from Mondstadt, so there's none left for me to captain... Heh."

Lumine released a sigh as she rolled her eyes. As they were walking behind Aether, she gave Kaeya a warning look. He let out a silent laugh, raising his hands up in surrender.

Amber opened up a door, welcoming them in. "This is my office guys, we'll be finishing things up here."

"Wow, Amber, you have your own office?" Paimon asked with excitement.

As Amber was rummaging through her drawers she said, "Yup! I'm the best glider in the city, so I was appointed to do gliding exams." She walked up to the twins, handing them a small packet. "Just fill this out, then we'll take your photo."

The two sat down in chairs in the room, the packets were asking for basic information. They paused when they came across a certain question, they gave each other looks. Making sure no one was listening, Aether asked, "What should we put for age?"

Lumine whispered back, "We appear quite young, what age do you think we can pass for?"

"Put down 20?" Lumine nodded at his suggestion.

They soon came across another problem. "Amber, we have no fixed address."

Amber looked at Lumine confused, so Aether further explained, "My sister and I are wanderers. Our entire purpose is to explore the unknown."

"To see the wonders of the world. We can not do that if we are bound to one place," Lumine continued.

"We are travelers," they said in unison.

The others stared at the twins in amazement, they had a mystical aura. It felt like they were looking into an abyss.

Amber, in a daze, says, "O-oh, you can just put down... umm, the Knights of Favonius Headquarters."

The twins nodded with a smile. After they finished with the paperwork, they handed it back to Amber. She put away the packets with other files.

Amber clapped her hands in excitement, saying, "It's now time for photos, my favorite part! Who wants to go first?"

Lumine walked in front of the kamera, tucking her hair behind her ear. "I will go first."

"Say windwheel aster," Amber said, standing behind the kamera.

"Windwheel aster!"

Amber looked at the image, giving Lumine a thumbs up. "You look so cute, Lumine!"

Lumine nodded with a proud grin. "It's your turn, Aether."

"Is Paimon going after Aether?"

Amber awkwardly scratched the back of her head. "Paimon, you didn't take the glider exam. I can't give you a license, besides you can fly, you don't need one."

Paimon started flailing in the air, complaining, "Awww, Paimom wants to get her picture taken!"

Aether laughed, waving his hand at Paimon. "Come on, you can take it with me."

With excitement, Paimom looked at Amber, asking, "Really!?"

She gave her an encouraging smile. "Say windwheel aster!"

Paimom squealed, rushing towards Aether, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck. The two smiled, exclaiming, "Windwheel aster!"

Kaeya chuckled at how happy the two looked together. He looked at Aether's sweet little dimples, thinking, 'Adorable~.'

"Now I just need to get the licenses made, you guys can come get them tomorrow. In the meantime, if you get stopped, show them this slip."

After saying goodbye to Amber, they soon left. Aether and Kaeya were walking behind the girls. Aether glanced at Kaeya, asking, "If you have no horses, what do you do then?"

"You know, wander around the city hoping someone will need me. I sometimes like to go to Angel Share and mess with Diluc, seeing him annoyed is quite entertaining."

Aether's head fell as he laughed at Kaeya's joke. "Do you miss the horses?"

"I have my own horse, I would never allow my baby to get taken away," Kaeya said with fondness.

Aether's eyes sparkled as he grabbed at Kaeya's arm. Kaeya's eyes fell onto his delicate hand, then moved up to Aether's face as his heart started to race. He reached out towards the blonde's hand, whispering, "Aether... I-"

"Excuse me?" Kaeya looked over to meet Lumine giving him a glare with her arms crossed. He snatched away his hand, hiding it behind his back in a panic.

"I'm sorry, did I interrupt something?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Kaeya let out an awkward cough, shaking his head vigorously. "No, no! Not at all!"

Lumine looked at her brother's confused face, letting out a helpless sigh. "My brother has always wanted to see and ride a horse. I would be thankful if you could help him with that, Kaeya. Paimom and I will be going to Good Hunter to have lunch."

Aether tilted his head with a bright smile. "Would you really do that for me, Kaeya?"

He gave Aether a doting smile, patting his head with a gentle hand. "Of course, any time you want."

Lumine pointed a finger at Kaeya, warning, "You better take good care of my brother. If anything happens to him, if even a tiny hair is damaged, you'll regret it."

Kaeya gulped, nodded his head like a chicken pecking at grass. "I would never let anything happen to him."

Lumine gave him a once over. "Mm-hm. Let's go, Paimon, I'll get you some sticky honey roast."

"Yay!"
