After Rokhan left her with the man's satisfaction, Marni continued her activities that morning to wash clothes on the river bank.
Marni did everything quickly. Washing, then preparing a meager breakfast for Aryan. And after that, she planned to visit the fat merchant.
It's been three days, she thought. Maybe the merchant had found a novice Pandita who was willing to teach Aryan to read and write as the merchant had promised her.

"Have you finished your breakfast, Aryan?"
"Not yet, Mom," said Aryan, who only had breakfast with porridge made from taro. "Where are you going, mom?"
"You, just stay at home, okay?" said Marni. "Finish your breakfast. I'm going out."
