Chapter 229 - Kakashi's awakening: Black Lightning!

The wind howled across the desolate battlefield, stirring up dust clouds under the heavy steps of the three colossal figures before him. Kakashi Hatake stands alone, his silver hair fluttering wildly around his masked face, eyes sharp and calculating. He faces the towering forms of Gyūki, Matatabi, and Son Goku, each emanating a formidable aura of raw, untamed power.

The air was thick with tension, electric with the anticipation of the coming storm. Kakashi's hand rested lightly on the hilt of his kunai, his gaze never wavering from the massive beasts. Despite the overwhelming odds, his stance was relaxed and confident, a testament to the countless battles he had survived.

'This'll be tough, but I need to end this quickly. I have all the information needed.'

Gyūki, the Eight-Tails, let out a thunderous roar, its tentacles lashing out, whipping the ground and raising debris clouds. Beside him, Matatabi, the Two Tails, ignited the air around her, her blue flames flickering menacingly as she paced back and forth. Son Goku, the Four Tails, ground his massive hands into the earth, molten rock bubbling and spitting between his fingers.

Kakashi's voice was calm, almost serene amidst the chaos. "I never thought I'd face you three like this," he said, his Sharingan eye flaring to life beneath the slant of his forehead protector. "But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given who our brothers are."

With a swift movement, Kakashi drew his kunai, a blur of practiced ease. The ground beneath his feet crackled with the burgeoning power of his lightning chakra mode, illuminating him in a fierce, electric blue aura. "Let's see if the stories about you hold any truth," he whispered, more to himself than the beasts.

As the first beams of dawn broke over the horizon, casting long shadows across the field, the ultimate test for Konoha's Copy Ninja began.

Whoosh!

With a burst of speed that left a crackling trail of electricity in the air, Kakashi lunged forward. "Lightning Blade!" he announced, his voice cutting through the rumbling growls of the beasts. The glow of his chakra-enhanced hand sliced through the early morning mist, aiming straight for the nearest massive target, Son Goku.

The Four Tails reacted with astonishing agility for its size, swinging its massive arm to intercept. The collision of Kakashi's Lightning Blade with a lava-covered limb sparked an explosion of steam and molten rock, lighting up the battlefield with an eerie glow.

As the steam cleared, Kakashi was already in motion, his figure a blur of precision and speed. He darted and weaved through Matatabi and Gyūki's attacks, his Sharingan meticulously tracking every move and every slight shift in the tailed beasts' massive bodies. His mind calculated dozens of strategies, discarding them one by one for better ones as the battle unfolded in rapid, brutal exchanges.

Gyūki, with a bellow of rage, swung its mighty tentacles toward Kakashi, who flipped backward, narrowly avoiding a crushing blow that shattered the ground where he had just stood. 'Matatabi is next. The tailed beast's goal is to keep me out of range.' Kakashi thought as he planned. As planned, Matatabi unleashed a torrent of fireballs, turning the area into a blazing inferno. Kakashi's body, sheathed in lightning, twisted through the flames, using his enhanced speed to evade the fiery onslaught. 'I'll keep them off balance.'

"Okay, let's see how you handle this." Kakashi quickly weaves hand seals, slamming his hands on the water. "Lightning Style: Black Lightning!"

The surge of dark lightning sent echoes of agonizing screams from the tailed beasts,

Despite the successful hit, Gyūki's tentacles came swinging towards Kakashi. Kakashi used his momentum to swing around a nearby tree, dodging merely inches away.

"Huff..." Kakashi tries to catch his breath as he stares down his enemies.

'Gyūki has fought the third Raikage; even though he lost, it's no surprise that he'd have that much resistance to Black Lightning.'

"Give up, Kakashi Hatake." Son Goku speaks, "You can't beat us. Ryuu sama wouldn't want you to die."

Kakashi scoffs, "Cut the crap, I'm not even sweating yet." He says, building up to another attack.

Swoosh! Kakashi swiftly blocks an incoming frontal attack, locking eyes with his assailant as he deflects the blow.

A young man with dark, cropped hair and almost lifeless eyelids was facing him. Kakashi pushed him back, creating a small shockwave in the process.

"I don't think we've crossed paths before," Kakashi remarks. 'He's not on Ryuu's intel.'

"No... we haven't," the man responds. "I'm Atsukan. Pleasure to meet you, Kakashi Hatake. Quite an honor."

"You didn't anticipate how to take me down, did you? I'm too quick for you," Kakashi taunts.

"I did, and honestly, you're not," a ripple forms around Kakashi's feet, indicating something brewing.

Boom! A massive water dragon emerges below Kakashi, snatching him in its jaws. But...

Bzzz! Kakashi transforms into lightning in a flash, reappearing from beneath the sandy shore.

'They fell for my clone, huh?' Kakashi muses to himself.

From the sea, Atsukan eyes Kakashi intensely. "Impressive. He's even better than I anticipated. Always prepared. Kinoi would have a blast with him. But it's foolish to underestimate his range."

"We've got this covered," Son Goku declares confidently.

With a roar, Son Goku unleashes a stream of green flames in Kakashi's direction. Kakashi, unfazed, charges forward, enveloped in crackling lightning. 'Is he serious? This won't break through my defenses. It's too slow to catch me,' Kakashi analyzes as he evades the fiery attack.

Dodging the initial assault, Kakashi is hit with a massive fireball. Matatabi, the Two Tails, launches its powerful technique, "Flaming Cat Roar!"

Knowing his vulnerability, Kakashi swiftly weaves hand signs, calling forth his jutsu, "Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" A surge of water surges from the ocean, morphing into multiple colossal water dragons that surge toward the blazing fireball.

Boom! The collision creates a blanket of steam, obscuring the battlefield and leaving onlookers momentarily blinded.

Whoosh! Kakashi leaps from the mist to gain a more precise vantage point. 'I've lost sight of them,' he ponders as he scans the area for his opponents.

'I'll use this to my advantage.'

Kakashi started making hand seals as he descended, "Fire style: Phoenix flower jutsu!" Kakashi spews out multiple smaller fireballs, shooting them into the mist.

The fireballs travel into the mist, burning through everything except what was least expected. Multiple fireballs travel faster, more significantly than the previous ones, as they travel towards Kakashi.

Kakashi threw a kunai on a string and reeled himself to shore, forcing the fireballs to travel into the sky.

'That was strange. I could only expect a response that quick and powerful from a Uchiha who's mastered the Sharingan.'

Kakashi widened his eyes as the smoke and steam cleared, facing the real threat. 'That jutsu!'

All three-tailed beasts had their mouths wide open, controlling chakra into one point, showcasing their true power. The chakra they were forming turned into a small orb. Gyūki eats the orb, a little smoke escapes, and then;

Boom!!!

"Tailed beast bomb!"

A gigantic ball made entirely of chakra travels quickly toward Kakashi, aiming to destroy him. 'Damn it! I have no choice.'

Controlling his chakra into his eyes, Kakashi focuses on the bomb before it reaches.

"Kamui!" He opens a portal just in time, and the colossal-tailed beast bomb disappears into the swirling vortex of his Kamui, leaving a sudden calm in its wake. Breathing heavily from the effort, Kakashi doesn't get a moment's respite before the tailed beasts prepare another, even more formidable attack.

This time, Son Goku, Matatabi, and Gyūki coordinate, staggering their attacks to create a relentless barrage of tailed beast bombs. Kakashi's eyes narrow, calculating the trajectory and timing of each bomb. He leaps into action, weaving through the air as each bomb approaches.

"Earth Style: Great Wall!" Kakashi unleashes massive mud, which quickly solidifies into a thick wall, surrounding and sheltering him. Boom!

Kakashi's wall is destroyed. His eyes widen as he faces yet another explosion. 'Kamui!' Using Kamui on himself, Kakashi teleports behind the tailed beasts. Using the cover of the explosion.

"Behind us!" With no time given, Gyūki and the others turn to attack again. Kakashi dodges another bomb, but then his heart sinks as he sees two more bombs curving towards him from different angles, timed to hit him simultaneously.

'I'm almost out of chakra.' Kakashi pushes his Sharingan to its limits. "This has to work." He focuses intently, managing to warp one bomb away with Kamui, but his vision blurs momentarily as he prepares to shift the other. 'The Mangekyou!' Kakashi holds his eye.

Just as the second bomb is about to hit, a sharp pain in his shoulder causes Kakashi to glance sideways. Atsukan's dagger hits its mark. "I told you, you're too slow!" Atsukan taunts, pulling his hand back.

"You're not so bad either," Kakashi retorts. Without warning, his body bursts into a surge of electricity, and a lightning clone takes his place. Atsukan stumbles back, shocked by the sudden swap. "What?!" he exclaims, disoriented.

The tailed beasts, momentarily confused, lose track of him. "Gyūki, where'd he go?!" Son Goku asks, scanning the area.

"I thought his chakra was low!" Matatabi exclaims, her voice filled with frustration. "Atsukan is never wrong!"

From the shadows, a thunderous noise cuts through the confusion, "Black Lightning!" Suddenly, sparks envelop Matatabi as she is hit by a powerful uppercut carrying the full force of Kakashi's lightning release. The unexpected attack sends shockwaves through its body, rippling through the battlefield.

Gyūki widens its eyes, 'A perfect Black Lightning... I have to kill him now.'

Kakashi is visibly strained but still in control. He taps into his last reserves of chakra, readying himself for whatever comes next.
