Chapter 161 - Team RO protect the Daimyo/ Team 2 has their first important mission!

(Sorry for not updating the story for a while but I've been ill and even now I havent fully recovered but I'll try update more.)

Two years later…

'4 months have passed since Konohagakure, and Kirigakure allied.

Naruto was growing well, he could walk, talk, and run. As expected of Minato's son, he wanted to become a shinobi just like me.

Itachi and his team had made a name for themselves, he and his team had a high success rate and dad started giving them more important missions. I woke up early that day because of a mission.'

"Ichika, wake up, it's time to go, I made you breakfast." Ichika slowly woke up and stretched.

"Yawn!" Ichika stretched.

"You know, I warned you not to make me this lazy after I moved in."

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it, I have to make you the best food, you know?"

"Let's go shower, can't be late today.

We have missions today." Ryuu nodded in agreement.

After showering and eating, they both left for the Hokage's office.

Ryuu stood guard when Ichika entered and got her orders.

Shortly after that, Kakashi and Obito also teleported there.

"Hokage-sama, I'm ready for my mission."

"Good, remember, no one should see you." Ichika nodded.

Ichika opened the door and saw Ryuu standing outside.

"Good luck." Ryuu had to focus, so he didn't look at her while he said that.

"You too," Ichika replied.

Ryuu entered the Hokage's office.

"Who's her backup team?"

"You don't need to worry about that, what you need to worry about is who you'll be backing up today." Ryuu nodded.

"You, Kakashi, and Mukai Kohinata will escort and guard a convoy with the Daimyo inside it.

He's coming to Konoha for his annual visit here."

"What about Team 2? Weren't they supposed to get this mission?"

"Itachi's team? Yeah, but the Daimyo said he wants no one else doing this other than you. Team 2 has another mission, they'll be escorting a rich merchant across some dangerous hills."

"I see…

I'll do it."

Ryuu nodded with a determined look.

"They should arrive soon, this mission is a test, and I'm taking a tremendous risk this time, also remember to stay vigilant and relay this message to Kakashi." Ryuu nodded.

Ryuu left the Hokage's office and stood outside the door.

He connected himself to Kakashi.

"The Daimyo is on his way, we have a mission to be his backup."

"I heard."

Just as they finished talking, team 2 was walking in the corridor.

Two teammates walked beside Itachi, one of them was Tenma, he had somewhat long, grey hair and black eyes.

His hair was spiked more so towards the right side and his bangs framed his face.

The other was Shinko Inari, she had two brown pigtails as her hair.

Itachi was silent as they walked and talked to each other.

Behind them was the captain of the team, he had a burnished face.

Short dark hair, unkempt eyebrows, and thick lips with a goatee. His name was Yuki Minazuki.

A small smile appeared on Itachi's face, seeing Ryuu standing there. He was easy to pick off with his red hair and Kakashi was attending beside him.

Behind his mask, Ryuu also smiled a little, he had to keep focus.

Knock knock knock!

"Come in!"

They entered the door and got orders.

After getting their orders, team 2 left the Hokage's office and went to prepare for their mission.

1 hour later, Itachi and his team were done preparing, and they met the old merchant at the gate.

"We aren't far from our destination, we'll need to take a shortcut, it will be rough and risky, but that's what shinobi are for."

Yuki helped the merchant push the cart while Itachi and the others guarded the back and sides.

Itachi stayed behind, his eyesight was better than his teammates and his instincts were top-notch so it only made sense.

After 4 hours, they took a slight break; they were on a steep mountain and it was raining.

"We'll stop here, and wait until it stops raining, carrying the cart uphill under such weather is too risky," Yuki stated as he set a camp for them.

"Yes, sir!" They said,

After using another route to get moving again, Team 2 continued escorting the merchant uphill, Itachi was behind the cart and he was the one pushing it with Tenma.

"Man, why'd I have to get stuck behind this stupid cart with you?"

'It's not like I'm enjoying this too much, either.' Itachi thought to himself and continued ignoring Tenma.

"Oh, stop crying, you two, we're almost there," Shinko said as she jumped on top of the cart.

"That's easy for you to say, all you're doing is scouting enemies ahead for us."

"Will you shut up if I help you out?"

"Forget it, I don't need your help."

"So you'd rather have Itachi's help than mine?"

"Huh?! No way!" Tenma let go of the cart and folded his hands.

"Hey what's wrong with you guys? Keep it together, we're almost at the top!" Minazuki shouted from ahead.

"Oh, that's right, Minazuki-sensei wanted me to get back here and Itachi joins him ahead."

Tenma frowned.

"Shinko, what's the problem?" Yuki asked from ahead.

"Sensei, why does Itachi get to lie back ahead of us?" Tenma asked naggingly.

"Because I said so, now hurry and get back into position, I've heard there are robbers around this place."

-----------------

While Team 2 was going through a stormy and muddy hill, Team RO was escorting the Daimyō on a sunny and green road.

-----------------

"I know I say this every year, but Konoha is so faaar,"

The old man said, sitting on a stump and staring at the teacup in his hand.

A fan-shaped crown sat above his wrinkled face.

The daimyo of the Land of Fire. Behind the old man, a luxurious palanquin awaited its master's return.

Around him were two of the Twelve Guardian Ninja and a dozen attendants.

While Ryuu and Kakashi's team spread out around in a square.

"If you'd like, I could teleport us into Konoha, you know?"

"Teleport? Oh no, I really like the view, it's just that…

It's so faaar."

"Right."

"Ryuu-sama, I heard your cousin was supposed to take me to Konoha at first. Is that true?"

"Yes, it is Daimyo-sama. Itachi Uchiha and his team were supposed to escort you while we became backup. I understand why you wanted me instead, but it would've been great if you gave them a chance too."

"Ah, I find it wonderful how greatly you think of your cousin."

Ryuu nodded.

"Hold on." Ryuu jumped ahead of the cart and signaled for them to stop.

"What's going on here? Are we under attack?" The Daimyo asked.

"Stay inside the cart, we'll handle this."

Kakashi jumped beside Ryuu with his chakra blade out.

"You sensed someone?"

"I have, cover me while I get them to safety."

Ryuu backed up and placed a seal on the cart, then teleported it away.

After that, Ryuu put his hand on the ground and closed his eyes.

'Around 30 clones, 8 real shinobi, and all of them have enough chakra for a good fight.' Ryuu smirked.

Inside the Bush, someone was making hand seals.

"Typhoon style: severe wind destruction!"

Whoosh!

A giant storm spiraled from inside the bush and pulled them closer.

"Typhoon style?!"

Ryuu held himself back with ash digging into the ground while Kakashi and the others jumped back.

"Kakashi, Kamui shortcut!"

"Got it!"

"What? Captains, how may we assist you two?"

Ryuu looked back with his Sharingan on.

"Mukai, use your Byakugan to tell me where they are. Kaoru, stay back until I give you the order to engage!"

"Got it!"

Ryuu unsealed the Amenonuhoku and tossed it in the air.

"Kamui!"

Kakashi teleported it above the storm.

Whoosh!

Ryuu teleported to it with a smirk.

Lightning chakra built in his hand.

"Purple lightning!"

Boom!

Sparks of lightning flew from inside the storm and then the storm dispersed.

"There are still more enemies around us."

Kuhai said.

"You mean more targets?" Ryuu asked.

"Sure, that works too."

Ryuu smirked.

"Kaoru, I know you've been waiting for me to say this. You can engage now."

"Thank you, sir, I won't disappoint you."

----------------

(Team 2 reached the peak of the mountain… )

Yuki and the merchant had been arguing ever since they reached the top.

"From here it's just a straight path, we should go now when the rain's not heavy. It's safer that way, for all of us!"

"What? No way I'm going right now! Can't you see how muddy it is?!"

"It'll be muddier after a few minutes, just listen to me and we'll reach there in no time!"

Itachi and his team were sitting on the cart while having food pills.

"They've been arguing for 20 minutes now," Shinko said.

'Yuki-sensei and that merchant should decide quickly. We're too exposed here.' Itachi said to himself.

Whoosh…

Suddenly, a heavy mist spread out to them.

Itachi dropped from the cart.

"Huh? What's wrong, Itachi?"

"We're under attack, go warn sensei!"

"Got it!" Shinko left and headed towards the tent.

"Don't get in my way, we'll fail this mission!" Tenma stood in front of Itachi.

"Wait, we're supposed to protect the cart."

"You do that while I keep these guys busy."

Itachi frowned, but he stayed put to protect the cart.

'We have to succeed on this mission.'

Itachi removed the katana Ryuu gave him and got ready to fight.
