Ryuu teleported back into his home, he knocked on Kakashi's door but he didn't answer so he opened it himself.
Ring!
His alarm was ringing.
Ryuu stopped it.
"Ah!" Kakashi woke up, throwing his blanket away and panting.
He looked at his hand.
"Kakashi." He widened his eyes.
"Ryuu?" He quickly got up and ran to the sink.
He was washing his hands and face but scrubbed his hands more, saying,
"It won't come off." He had tears in his eyes.
"Kakashi, you're ok, Rin's ok, calm down."
'He's shaking, it's like he didn't hear a word I said.'
"Ryuu, I'm sorry, I let you down, I let Obito down." Ryuu frowned.
"Kakashi, you didn't let anyone down, this wasn't your fault." Ryuu put his hand on his shoulder.
'He's sweating and has a fever, I'm sorry I had to do this to you, I'll make it up to you, I swear.'
"Let's go for a walk."
He nodded.
"Alright."
Meanwhile, in Iwagakure…
The Tsuchikage was having a meeting with his council.
"So then, what is the situation regarding the request to enter the peace treaty?"
One elder asked.
"Naturally, it's going to have to be turned down."
"Whatever Konohagakure may negotiate the hidden sand, nothing will challenge the unity of the hidden stone!" Another elder added.
They began arguing and talking over each other.
"Silence, enough!" The Tsuchikage said.
They all fell silent.
"Indeed, I'm proud of the unity we've seen displayed in Iwagakure. However, with our pride on the line, we sent one thousand of our shinobi, and I understand it took just two of them.
Namely, the yellow flash and that hybrid scum, Ryuu Uchiha.
They put a stop to the invasion.
That same hybrid was the one who also stopped our invasion in Kumogakure when we sent 10,000 shinobi.
Konoha doesn't need to match us in numbers, they only need to match us in strength.
I'm afraid that's the cold reality of it all."
They all sat down.
"And now it's worse, we've had rumors claiming that Ryuu Uchiha is alive, on the same day that the third Raikage has gone missing.
It can't be a coincidence.
If he can get such a powerful shinobi as the third Raikage with no one noticing, I assure you none of our shinobi will survive another war."
The Tsuchikage stated before sitting down.
Meanwhile, Kakashi and Ryuu were taking a walk in the village…
"Hmm?" Guy saw Kakashi and Ryuu walking.
"Hey, Kakashi, Ryuu, come join us, have some dumplings!"
Kakashi coldly turned away and continued walking.
"Kakashi, don't you want some dumplings?"
Kakashi shook his head at Ryuu.
"Seriously, he isn't that social these days."
Guy stated.
"Is something bothering him?"
Tenma asked.
"Well, you can't exactly expect him to be jumping for joy."
A genin said.
Kurenai frowned.
"You're talking about what happened to Rin?"
"Yeah, that sure would leave a big hole in your heart, but at least she's still alright," Asuma added.
Guy folded his hands.
Kakashi looked down as he remembered what he saw.
"Rin…" He quietly whispered her name.
He was looking through some books; he picked one up and froze, then he dropped it and turned away.
"Hey, you alright?" Kakashi put his hands in his pocket and walked away.
Ryuu sighed and followed him.
Meanwhile, The Hokage had finished a meeting with his council and the Daimyo…
"That was nicely done," Koharu said.
"Now we can breath easier for a while."
Hamura added.
"You are satisfied with an agreement like this? To simply forgive Iwagakure's actions and move on to demands for compensation? It's almost as bad as if we'd lost the war!" Danzo stated.
He looked at Sarutobi for answers.
"What do you think of it, Hiruzen?"
Koharu asked.
"Continuing the war any further would be disastrous, we've already exhausted Konoha, this is a step toward finding common ground."
Danzo slammed the table.
"Many of our colleagues gave their lives fighting this last battle.
With this agreement, it's like they died in vain!" Koharu gritted his teeth, and Hamura stayed silent.
"I understand and assume full responsibility for that," Hiruzen replied.
"Just how will you take responsibility?"
He remained silent.
An hour later, the Daimyo had arrived.
"I intend to step down as the third Hokage.
So the fourth Hokage can be selected."
The entire room fell silent.
"How regrettable you were doing such a fine job, lord third."
The Daimyo spoke, Danzo frowned and glared at him.
"To be completely truthful, the third Hokage was too soft and led the village to be cornered.
We need a forceful Hokage, who will change the way things are done and will enforce the rules of the shinobi.
That's the kind of man we need."
"And is there such a person to be found?" The Daimyo asked.
"I recommend we choose Orochimaru, one of the legendary sannin of the leaf."
They began whispering and discussing.
"And what say you, lord third?"
His eyes were closed as he was thinking.
"In this age of war, Orochimaru is truly nothing short of a genius, there's no denying that fact."
A small smug appeared on Danzo's face.
"However, a sinister will, an intense ambition lurks deep behind those eyes, I cannot trust such a person with the duties of the Hokage."
"Lord third you dare…"
Danzo was disappointed in Hiruzen's decision.
"At first, I had multiple people I would've chosen, Ryuu Uchiha, and Fugaku Uchiha, but seeing that Ryuu Uchiha doesn't want the title of Hokage, I compared the two remaining candidates.
Fugaku almost did just as much as Minato Namikaze did, he excelled in the war, and being the clan head, he has more experience in leading than Minato, however, Minato would be well suited for this position and he has been working towards it his whole life.
Therefore, I suggest Minato Namikaze becomes the fourth Hokage."
"He's a shinobi who studied under Jiraiya, in other words, a pupil of your pupil," Hamura stated.
"He's so skilled and earned the moniker called the yellow flash," Koharu added.
"Ahh." Minato's feats impressed the Daimyo.
Danzo stood up.
"Minato is still too young!"
Hiruzen stood up.
"He and Ryuu won the battle of Kannabi bridge and found a claim by leading the way to the end of the third great shinobi war."
"I am strongly opposed." Hiruzen and Danzo glared at each other.
"And what about the rest of you?"
The Daimyo asked.
They nodded in agreement.
The Daimyo also nodded, leaving Danzo to grit his teeth in anger and frustration.
Later on in the day, Minato was called to the Hokage's office.
"I believe you will carry on the will of fire, I want to entrust you with the future of the village, and intact with that, the whole shinobi world, will you accept my offer?"
"Lord third, I shall do my best to be worthy of your trust."
"I wish I could've passed this position onto you under better circumstances than the ones we find ourselves in, it's almost certain that what lies ahead of you will not be peaceful."
"I am prepared for that."
"I believe in you, I know you can do it."
Minato smiled and nodded.
Meanwhile, Ryuu had left Kakashi and went to meet Kushina, she was cooking some food.
He knocked on the door, and she opened it for him.
"Ryuu! It's true!" Kushina tightly hugged him, Ryuu's eyes bulged out, and she was squeezing the air out of his lungs.
"It's so good to see you, what brings you here?" She asked as she continued to cook.
"I just stopped by to say hi, I've missed you all so much you know." Kushina smiled.
"You're hardly recognizable right now, you've grown so much!" Ryuu shyly scratched his head with a nervous smile.
Minato entered the house.
"Ryuu? What are you doing here?"
Kushina smacked him.
"That's no way to greet an old friend, you know!"
"I'm sorry." He said as he scratched his head.
"Anyway, what did lord third want with you?"
"Well…"
"Oh, what did you get scolded for something? Oh, don't worry about it, you know?"
"No, actually, it wasn't that."
"Well, then, what was it?" She asked.
"Well um, he wants me to be the fourth Hokage." Ryuu widened his eyes, he started smiling.
"Oh well, don't you mind what he says, the Hokage is just- " She realized what he said and widened her eyes.
"Really?" He nodded.
"I've just been named the fourth Hokage." Kushina chuckled and then jumped on him.
"Congrats, you know." Kushina took off her heels and jumped on Minato completely.
"Woah, hey hold on!" He said as he held her.
Kushina became serious suddenly.
"Thank you for all your hard work."
"Thanks, Kushina." He responded.
"Whew, I thought I was about to see something I would regret seeing, you know."
Minato chuckled, and Kushina smacked Ryuu with a pan.
"Mind your manners! You're growing up too fast, you know!"
They had dinner together to celebrate.
