With our little meeting finished, Jasmine and Isabella accompanied me to our classroom. We had lost the first lesson since Nicholas called us, but the teachers were noticed so there shouldn´t be problems with our late arrival.
I would have liked to speak more with Véronica, but she was busy with the council´s work and her own classes. We agreed to meet during lunch break anyways, so all I need to do now is be patient.
As we walked through the hallways I noticed that most students around us were whispering and looking at our direction with curious eyes.
It was time to change classrooms so it wasn´t strange for them to be walking around school.
Both girls also noticed this and showed triumphant smiles.
What's with these two?
I could understand the good feeling that comes with victory, but they seem more like the owner of a dog whose proud of its performance.
Am I the dog?...
I ditched the thought as I saw the classroom´s door. Students were still entering so there was no need to knock an announce our arrival.
Still...
"Hey look, it´s them"
"Now that I´m seeing him up close, he´s kinda handsome, no?"
"The girls are also quite pretty if you forget about the bandana..."
We got some attention as soon as we stepped into the room. We decided to let people be and went to some free seats in the back rows.
"Hey, is it okay if we seat here?"
"U-Um... Sure..."
"Thank you"
A student was sitting on the left side of the bar, so to not seem rude or high-spirited, I asked for her permission. She awkwardly agreed and we all sat on a chair beside her. Since Jasmine was a servant she had to stay in the back of the classroom with the other maids, it was painful to see her up, but those were the school´s rules.
"Dominique, do you know what´s this class about?"
"Haven´t you seen the schedule?"
"I haven´t"
"Gosh, please take a look at it later... Right now should be the time for some general history"
"History huh, I like that subject. You´re supposed fated to repeat history if you don´t know it"
I didn´t think people here knew about that...
"And what do you think?"
Isabella rested her arms on the bar and then placed her face on top of her palms.
"I guess it has a point. But I also think is kind of sketchy"
"Really? Why is that?"
"I mean, have you ever met a person that never commits the same mistake twice?"
"Hmm... I think I haven´t..."
She clicked her finger and showed a smile.
"Exactly! People shouldn´t worry about making the same mistakes more than one time, they should worry about the solutions for those cases"
"Mmm... You may be into something..."
I wasn´t expecting this kind of conversation from her. And yet, it was pretty interesting.
"Solutions huh..."
"Hm?"
Apparently, I was not the only one to think that. The girl in the seat on my left side added that comment as if she was telling a secret. When our eyes met she turned a bit red and turned her head to avoid eye contact.
Heh... Funny girl...
She had a simple appearance compared to all my acquaintances. A good face with green eyes and long brown hair. There was a white ribbon to complement the looks on the back of her head. Her uniform was the same as ours, just that without the bandana.
A regular student.
Considering her attitude, making her join the conversation would be the wrong move, so I let her stay with her thoughts and replaced my focus on Isabella.
"I mean, that sounds nice, but, what if you are in a situation where one mistake is the end? Knowing past cases should come in handy to avoid a fatal outcome, right?"
"Well, if you are in such a situation, I guess so"
We continued with our conversation for a couple of minutes. The teacher hadn´t arrived so there wasn´t much to do.
"Y-Yo! Your names were Isabella and Dominique, yes?"
Suddenly, our conversation got interrupted. A group of students were talking to us from the front of our seats.
Isabella took the initiative and answered the boy with a sweaty forehead.
"Yes, those are our names. Do you need anything from us?"
"Oh! Not really, we just wanted to say that your fight was great! You two are pretty strong"
"I- Is that so? Well, thank you, that is very kind of you"
Isabella showed them a bright smile, the kind that would make you fall in love with her at first sight.
"U-Um! Is it okay if we come to talk from time to time?"
One of the girls from the group asked us with a shy demeanor. Isabella and I looked into each other for a moment.
"... I don´t see why not"
She nodded with a happy expression.
"Of course! Please come any time!"
The group seemed to get brighter as Isabella joined their conversation. I was pretty much more comfortable just hearing and adding some comments here and there.
This is great. I wasn´t expecting any student to try a friendly interaction with us yet, but this is indeed a nice surprise. Especially for Isabella, the more people she talks to, the better her image will become, and becoming a candidate to marry the prince shouldn´t become a very distant dream.
Here in this world, reputation is everything.
"Tch. Look at them, just because the filth won a match they believe they are at our level"
"They´re all traitors, we need to teach them a lesson"
That´s why I have to be very clear with what want to say.
"..."
"!!"
"L-Let´s go"
"Yeah..."
At least, most of the time...
"Hey, would you like to eat lunch together?"
Isabella and the others were taken aback by my proposition. It was a risky thing to do, but now I can´t let these people fade away when they can be the beginning of something.
"W-Would that be alright?"
"Of course. We are classmates, after all"
The boy exchanged a look with his friends, although some had a hard expression, they all agreed.
"Then it´s settled"
Isabella´s hand squeezed mine under the bar, and a pleased face with a bit of blush greeted me as I looked into her eyes.
"Heh, feeling excited?"
"Hehe!"
That little laugh was enough of an answer for me.
She returned to the conversation with our new group of possible friends.
"Would you like to come too?"
"H-Huh?"
I turned to the lonely girl on my left and asked her if she wanted to join. Something inside my head was telling me to do so.
"... Really?"
"Yup"
My smiles weren´t as good as the ones that Isabella or the other girls could give, but I made an effort.
"I think it´s a good chance to get along with my neighbor, isn´t it?"
The girl peeled her eyes for a moment, averted her face, and let out a sigh.
"Yhea... Sure..."
As expected of my sad communication skills, I couldn´t get a very good reaction, but success is success.
So I´ll take it anyway.
"Great, nice to meet you, um..."
"... Lada... Lada En Reco"
"Nice to meet you, Miss Reco"
I offered my hand to the girl with an indifferent face.
"... You can call me Lada"
She accepted it with a lazy motion and fragile grip.
Lada... Lada... Where have I heard that name before?...
I may need to take some time to remember the events from the original story.
