Chapter 24 - A nice way to start the day

As we were riding through the streets, I noticed the looks that people were giving us.

Some were curious, others surprised, and some more offended or disgusted.

We did our best to not pay much attention to them, but it was kind of hard when their whisperings became louder and more aggressive.

"Jasmine, hold on tight"

Following my command, my maid trapped my hips with her arms. Just then, I told Twilight to go full speed.

"KREEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Her shriek filled the hearts of the people with fear and their faces with dirt due to her speed.

If they are going to be mean just like that, then I might as well give them a reason~.

Feeling her arms getting tighter around me, I noticed that Jasmine was smiling with all her soul.

"Was that necessary?"

"Pff. Of course not"

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

We both left our footprint on the capital´s street with a good laugh.

"So, this is the famous academy of the royal capital. The magic academy of Herxes"

"I have to admit it. It is quite amazing"

"Well, it´s the place where royalty and similars go to get some education, it was to be expected"

Just as it was described in the original story. The academy had a pack of lands that divided the faculties into a set of different buildings and open spaces. When you looked at it from a god´s perspective, you could be able to appreciate the shape of the knight being blessed by the 4 elements from above as the land´s form.

There was the main building in the center, which resembled the knight. It was a humongous monstrosity of 4 floors with a quadrangular shape. It could easily be mistaken for a second castle if you didn´t know it is a school.

There, the students from 1st to 3rd-year interact with each other during their academic formation.

The rest of the buildings were meant for a variety of different purposes. From left to right, resembling each element; there was the arena of fire, the auditorium of earth, the lab and magical research building of water, and finally, the public area of wind.

This academy was basically a miniature city on its own. The buildings were far enough to not cause trouble with each of their purposes, but also as close as to be there by foot without many problems.

Just in the southeast of the main building, the stables and parking lots were waiting for their students to arrive. You had to share space with other drakes when you are in your 1st year, but according to your notes and achievements, you could obtain a private space just like the royal families.

Since I was part of the Yatra, a branch of the duke´s family, we had our personal space in the stables. When I arrived with Twilight I noticed a brown cart pulled by 2 earth drakes with the same family shield as mine.

"She truly doesn´t want anybody to see us together huh"

I hopped down from Twilight´s back with Jasmine, and as we were putting my drake on her spot, an unknown voice approached us.

"Wooaaah! So the rumors were true! An irregular joins the academy this year. What a surprise!"

Following the source of the voice. I saw a young man followed by a group of other 4 students. Since none of them were relevant to the original story or my business, I didn´t recognize their shields or faces.

The leader was somewhat outstanding though. He had bright green hair that matched his yellow eyes. The others looked either normal or completely forgettable.

In any case, my focus was somewhere else.

There was a rumor like that?... No... but... Oh!

"There was something like that about the heroine, right? I almost forgot"

With my thought escaping from my mouth, I remembered that the first encounter of the heroine with the academy was a pack of bullies. It´s due to her confrontation with them that she meets the prince and the villainess.

Understanding the situation, I mustered an answer while I was getting done with my drake.

"... Do you need something?"

Not pleased with my tone and face while replying, the guy clicked his tongue and shortened the distance between us. He didn´t hesitate to grab me by the collar as soon as he could.

"Watch your mouth, scumbag. Demons like you shouldn´t be staining this sacred place with your filthy presence. Why don´t you grab your stuff and leave before something bad happens?"

The confidence in his grin was amazing. He really believed himself capable of dominating me with nothing but his threats and pitiful legion.

"Well... As far as I´m concerned, the entrance to irregulars is allowed for a thing..."

I grabbed the arm holding my shirt and pressed it a little.

"Hrgh?! W-What is this?"

I forced him to let go of my clothes, and with a pull to the left with a slight kick to her right leg, his face met the hard floor of stone.

"Argh!"

His minions were taken aback by my sudden response, and when they seemed ready to engage in a fight, I used my shadows to trap their limbs and necks with ease.

These idiots never fought against a real soldier before...

They were cocky, undisciplined, and imprudent. They never noticed that I had activated my magic the moment their leader walked to me.

"Pff. I guess this is fine for a first encounter..."

Putting extra strength into their necks, I suffocated them just enough to make them faint.

When the leader regained consciousness of what was going on and saw the bodies of his minions, his face turned blue.

"You said something about irregulars being filthy demons, no?"

Placing his eyes on me again, the leader of the bullies found himself trapped in a cocoon of frightening darkness.

"Y-You! W-What is this?! Where are you?!"

Inside this space rolled his head in all directions in a useless search for my voice.

"This place? This is where demons come to play, my friend"

"I-I am not your friend! Y-You are just a filthy demon! A failure! Scum!"

His hands shot a wind of blade. Quite flashy, but it was so awfully weak that my darkness consumed the attack as an appetizer. The groans of my beasts were a nice stimulus to bring out his fear.

"N-No way..."

"My! How rude. And you call yourself a noble? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Such a disappointment"

His fear was tainted by a visible hatred. It was like a barking puppy.

"Shut up! You´re just a good-for-nothing stray! You know nothing about being a noble!"

"Heh, at least I know when to pick a fight"

"!! Y-You!"

"Catch"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, a ball of mud landed on the bully´s face. He screamed in agony as if it had been a knife for a second, but once he realized it was nothing of the sort, he grabbed the ball off his head and threw it back

Splat! Was the sound that followed his throw.

"Hah! Got you!"

Vanishing the cocoon I allowed the bully to see the results of his efforts. What had been thrown to him with my magic was nothing but a ball of drake´s shit. And now that ball was slowly sliding down from the expensive-looking cart of another noble.

When the passenger of the vehicle stepped down to see the damage, his titanic body created a new shadow that covered the figure of the bully. Who was now trembling and stuttering with his words.

"N-N-No. I-It was an a-a-accident. I-I-"

Interrupting his nonsense, the noble grabbed his shoulder with his giant hand and showed him a bright smile.

"If you like to play with shit so much, then do me a favor and clean the stables of my drakes. They ate quite a lot last night and now they are... Smelly..."

"N-No. T-That was..."

"Let´s go"

"W-Wait! N-No! It was an accident! An accident!"

As his body was dragged by the giant, Jasmine and I took our leave from the stables. We were already at the exit, so it was a short walk.

"Fufu~. You´re so cruel, master"

"Heh. What are you saying?"

Turning on my ankles and with my arms dramatically opened to the air, I said: "This was a nice way to start the day. Don´t you think so, woman?"

"Hik!"

Right behind a tree in the surroundings, a person was doing a terrible job hiding her presence. Especially with the sound that just exposed her completely.

"Come on out, I won´t hurt you..."

At least not yet...

"Umm... Sorry, I didn´t mean to see it... Well, I did since I wanted to help you, but you did all that so suddenly and-"

"Don´t make me go for you, woman"

"R-Right. Sorry"

With light steps, the girl I was talking to finally showed up before me. I was out of words when I saw her in her full design.

Short white hair pulled together by a hairpin of a bird. A slender and healthy figure that gives you a feeling of comfort. A pair of shiny amber gems for eyes. And a round face that made her seem young, yet feminine.

"... You must be joking..."

She was an absolute beauty, there was no doubt about that. However, that same beauty was one of the greatest hits that I had ever received in this new life.

"My name is-"

"Laura?"

"Hm?"

Yes... Right in front of me was the heroine...

And also... The girl that kept me company during the darkest times of my previous times... And the one that gave me the novel in which now I´m living...

Laura Flores Heberra.

One of the few people that stayed with me even when cancer did its job.

She somehow was playing the role of the heroine now.

"... Master?"

If this is a joke from the gods...

"This is the worst of all times..."
