The only ones that survived were the people who awakened special powers, the ability to combat the monsters. Chapter 1 - The Ruined World

Koi rubbed her head, gently massaging her forehead. What a weird dream? Yet, she wasn't able to recall any of it.

"Eurgh…." She groaned, tumbling out of bed. School. Again. She hated school, and the people at school hated him, no question. Ever since people had awakened special powers, everyone picked on her because she was a Level 1 without one.

Fumbling for her crutch, he dragged himself out of bed. She lived alone, as her parents had died when the monsters began to appear. She was in a one-story apartment with no stairs, due to her leg he wouldn't be able to get down them anyway.

After dressing she began the long walk to school. According to her, it was nice as he got some alone time.

"Try not to die losing your crutch, Koi!" The uncontrollable laughter emanating from everyone in the hallway as she walked past was unbearable. But not for her, after going through this every day.

The mockery was annoying, however. She sighed. Because of it, she was unable to hold back the desire she held to retaliate.

She turned, raising her middle finger at the boy. "I wonder: Is your head so far up your own arse that you don't know how many fingers I'm holding up?"

The boy gave her a look of the utmost fury, as though someone had thoroughly disrespected his parents.

"You'll pay for that, Koi, you crippled, no ability, level 1 piece of worthless shit!"

A blue ball of light formed between the boy's two hands, and beam headed straight towards Koi's open chest.

There was nothing she could do about it, and she had nowhere to go anyway, so she allowed the beam to strike her down. It hit her, sending her flying into the air, causing her to land on her back with a 'thump'.

"What's going on? Are they fighting on the last day of the school year?" After heard all the commotion, one of the female students ran to check on her. However, after seeing her crutch and recognising her, she turned away to go back to her friends in disgust about who she was trying to help.

However, screams came from the far corridor. A monster, around 7 foot with six eyes, large claws, and jaws that could swallow children whole.

It pushed the lockers apart easily, clearly having one target. Her.

His crutch was on the floor, and it charged her. Breaking the wall, they both fell.

"Uwahhhhhhh!"

She let out a scream, crossing her arms over her chest in vain to try and brace for the impact. After all, she was on the second story of the building, with a leg she couldn't properly walk on and her crutch was buried somewhere beneath all the rubble.

It creeped up on her, as she desperately tried to crawl away.

"Ergh…..ugh…." He groaned, trying desperately to get away.

"Someone call the teachers! There's a girl down there!" Someone yelled.

"Huff...huff….." She panted. She couldn't move anymore. No matter what, her fate was set. Ever since she was born, she was doomed to die. From the day people were given powers and she didn't get one, her death warrant had been signed.

But why…?

She hadn't done anything wrong.

The claws raked down her back, and she cried out. And she realised it was toying with him. Just like a cat and a yarn ball. Except she was still going to die.

However, after a few minutes, she had lost too much blood.

However, she still hung onto consciousness long enough to hear one thing before she passed out.

[Congratulations, you have been granted the Deity Compl...]

And that was all she heard before she descended into a world of darkness.
