Chapter 22 - Negligence, a guilty crime -1

An hour later.

"So, you want to sneak inside the dungeon? Without permission?" Kevin asked as Kyra had now suddenly cornered him in a corridor. And for what, a nuisance again!

"Would they permit us if we ask politely?" Kyra questioned back, as Kevin didn't look interested.

"Look, it's not like I am doing this for fun!" Taking a step forward, she cleared, "After their meeting, this case will be again handed over to the alpha team. They would be given all the credits, and would be asked to further investigate the culprit!" And when Kevin thought about it, she added, "So, I just want to go and find out its real race! And also if possible, who is behind all this weird mystical stuff?"

When he just stared, she questioned, "Do think that alpha team would be happy enough to let us go near the creature, after receiving all the rights over this case? Do you?" Kevin shook his head understanding her point.

She was right! The members always favored the alpha team and their chief would come back with nothing but disappointing news like every time! Kyra was damn right, they had merely crossed the first phase, and there was still so much they needed to investigate in this case! And, if Alpha team handled it, the ones who were planning to scapegoat a culprit, he wasn't sure if they would work sincerely!

"What about the security?" Kevin asked though he wasn't ready to play along with her again. Only members above the Chief level could receive cards to visit criminals in the dungeon, and they needed one to shove it off at the guard's face!

"I," Taking a card out of her pocket, she gleamed, "already have one!"

Kevin blinked at the entry pass ID, and he shrieked, "Wait! Did you steal Adam's Passer ID?"

"No, I just secretly took it from his inner vault!" Kyra innocently answered, placing it back inside her pocket.

"Yeah, you stole it!" Kevin pressed, crossing his arms. She was being crazy again!

"I did not!" She mumbled, gritting her teeth. And when he just squinted his eyes, she added, "Since I am gonna return it back, consider it as... borrowing! Alright?" Seriously, he was panicking for no reason according to her!

"So, we gonna go inside. You will try reading its memories, as farthest as you can. And once we get any head about its origin, we gonna return back and keep it safe in the vault!" Patting her pocket, Kyra proudly added, "Haha! Easy, isn't it?"

Kevin shook his head, taking a deep breath. She was making it simple like a hide and sick game, but when he looked on the downside, they would be digging a deep shit in their already deteriorating days here in the KNIGHTS.

"So, are you in?" Kyra gingerly questioned with all hopes, as he was calculating her whole simple sneak out.

"I won't!" And much to her gleam, he shook his head making her shoulders drop down in disappointment.

"And, I highly suggest you back out from this idea! We have already dug our grave by carrying that secret mission to help that girl!" Taking a step forward, he seriously warned, "And trust me, Kyra, we will hammer your own coffin by sneaking inside the dungeon!"

"Alright, no-risk-only-rusk human! Thanks for your precious advice!" Kyra scorned, and taking a step backward, she snapped her fingers to teleport.

"Don't end up in more shit, Trouble-Gum!" Kevin sneered back, as she vanished sticking out her tongue. She won't stop, will she? He thought sighing out loud and went back to the resting room. He needed some damn sleep, right now!

----

Kyra ended up teleporting inside the dungeon, almost in front of Cell No. 3A2, where her culprit was locked up. She peeked in through the small window panel on the door, her eyes searching for the Wendigo and she saw it crawled up in a corner.

Taking a deep breath, Kyra pressed the ID against the door locker, and the door opened. Unlike the normal lockups in the jails, they had a highly evolved, AI-upgraded, and purely dangerous dungeon. The whole basement was divided into five different blocks, each carrying specific threat-leveled creatures, and 'A' usually hiding up the most dangerous, unauthorized culprits!

And every cell had dedicated security devices, defense shields, and protective gears around the room. This would allow not just anyone to sneak inside the cell, or use any magic inside. Yes, magic was strictly prohibited inside these something 'anti-magic' enchanted spaces, ready to burn anyone who tries to experiment in here.

Hence Kyra could only teleport in the corridors, and use Andrew's passer ID to sneak inside the culprit's cell.

Carefully locking the door behind, Kyra looked at the creature crawling into a dark corner. A weird blue-ray circle surrounded it, there were big bullets of Sediotons placed inside its flesh, of higher versions that she had used on the highway. They would make sure it felt pain whenever moved, and also always lure it to sleep.

A helmet with wires attached to its forehead and temples was put on its head, mainly glowing in green. It gave them their state of mind. These devices would glow red in danger, black in extreme danger, and green conveying the culprit's peace of mind. Kyra sighed in relief looking at that helmet again. At least she won't face destruction as the Wendigo looked weak and defenseless.

Slowly walking towards it, Kyra squatted down and even bent down her face as she tried looking at its face.

The creature blinked, its eyes were barely open as it looked at her. Tears formed in its eyes, slowly rolling out of its sticky bony face covered in dark grey flesh skin. It begged her to release him, to stop torturing his mind.

Kyra felt its emotions, she felt as if she could connect with it for some odd reason.

'Please, kill me! I was forced to do everything!' It pleaded and Kyra could easily read its emotions. She almost gasped, blinking in surprise as its thoughts were audible to her! Wait, did Anna transfer some of her powers to her?

And as she was busy thinking, the creature slowly lifted its cuffed hands and tried touching her. Straightening up, Kyra instantly took a step back freaking at its gesture.

'I am being controlled. My mind is being ruled by something else. Please, Kyra, I beg you! Kill me! Destroy me, before it takes over the world!'

Kyra blinked, her mouth slightly parting as the creature's thoughts rang in her mind. Was she able to connect with the culprits now? Was it some developed magic skills? Questions like why, how, and what were raised as she looked at the creature.

Its head lay on the cold floor, its hands reaching for her as she tried moving farther away. Wait, did it just take its name? Kyra stood up, stumbling back in terror. Her hand covered her mouth in shock, her eyes tearing as she felt its strong emotions, its pain drifting inside her heart.

She clenched her heart, which was now feeling weirdly hurt, and looked at the creature. What was happening to her?

Wait, what the shit was this weird cloned-up creature? It was a mere endangering Wendigo in appearance, a soul eater from inside, and also a thoughts-manipulator maybe? She was regretting coming here!

The creature tried to sit up, stand up but it failed and fell to the ground. Those blue rays around it emitted something on it, that screamed in pain. Wait, it wasn't allowed to even move? Kyra thought as it was her first time entering a cell belonging to the infamous 'A' block, a block where guards were murdered sometimes by the culprits.

'I won't hurt you. No one can, not any host even if they try!' It tried reaching her again, tears welling up in her eyes as she felt its pain. But how was she feeling its emotions? Wait, host? Was it a host to something?

She suddenly squatted in front of it again, her trembling hand reaching its fleshed face, trying to wipe its tears. The moment her finger touched its skin, she felt its flesh almost urging her to withdraw feeling scared, but Kyra still wiped its tears. She even boldly caressed its face with her thumb, her act surprising her own sanity!

What the hell was she doing? And what the shit was wrong with her behavior?

"Is Is it the soul eater?" Kyra asked, guessing it was the parasite inside this poor host! She badly wanted to run away, terrified and shrunken beyond limits as that crazy feeling inside her body was growing up.

To her shock, the creature shook its head. So it was a host to something else? But, what?

She looked at it for an answer, and it teared up again, 'Something greater than that! A dark force that was now trying to free from it, to find a more suitable, stronger host!'

The world stopped for Kyra as she heard its every word clearly! What could be worse than the ancient Soul-Eater? She thought, almost petrified by the change of events.

Wait, was it influencing her mind? Trying to take her as bait and escape the dungeon? And she immediately retracted, stood up, and moved backward as she felt that it was actually playing with her mind! Exploiting her thoughts, for its own good!

But, to her horror, a sudden alarm out of nowhere started buzzing in the room. A face that more looked like a tiny robotic sculpture towards her right, turned around and faced in her direction!

"Name-Kyra Yang, Race- Witch, Unit- Delta, Division-Supernatural Crime!" It started babbling out and Kyra trembled in fear.

"For violating the law and order, for breaching inside a 3A2 Cell, for using a higher officer's passer ID, now I the guardian of this cell will punish her for the crime as per the defamation laws of A block!" It added much to her nightmare!

Holy shit! Did A block have such a freakingly cruel, ultra pro-leveled security? Oh, god! She had really hammered her own coffin! Kyra cried inside!

But before she could even act, the robot's eyes opened, something red forming in its eyes!

And, Kyra knew she was going to die in that room. KNIGHTS really had their ways of punishing their workers! She thought hurrying towards the door, though she was too late!
