"What's wrong?" David asked looking at Anna who was a sweating mess.
"He isn't responding!!" Kyra managed to say, her thoughts falling apart as their plan started losing its track.
Anna opened her eyes, tears falling down as she lost her connection with Kevin's thoughts. She shook her head as Kyra looked at her, conveying that he had lost track, trapped by his emotions. The worse nightmare they ever wished to encounter, broke not only Kevin's stability but also their hopes.
"We We can't give up!" Kyra mumbled, her eyes blazing in frustration as she looked at Kevin. She had warned him to focus, to just concentrate on his task! But even such a simple task was difficult for him!!
"We are running out of time!!" David added looking at his watch. It was moving past nine and they needed to do something, anything for their plan to get back on its track.
"Give him the potion! There's nothing else we can do, but guess the trance timings by ourselves now!!" Anna mumbled, her tears wetting her cheeks as she felt weak, and mostly miserable for failing at such a stage.
"No! We will just stop it here!" Kyra spoke, offending her crazy idea that would only cost his life. If the creature notices him, even before completely feeding on the girl, that would only put him at greater risk. Worse, that could even change its old memories and alter the past timeline!
"You want to give up now? Coming this far?" Anna jolted, annoyed that Kyra was easily giving up.
But it wasn't her fault, to begin with, and they just couldn't blame Kevin either!
"I am giving up because we are out of options!" Kyra grumbled as Anna looked at her in disappointment. "If he gets a body before our plan, will he manage to stay alive?"
"Then do you have a better plan? Better idea to pull him out of his emotions and get back on his track!!" Anna rebuked, as now they were wasting one precious minute over that argument!
"He is a human Anna!! How will he manage to fight against that monster?"
"Give it now! We are running out of time!!" Anna yelled, placing a hand over Kevin's forehead again. His thoughts were jammed, and she had no better option but to trust her instincts and guess what was happening inside.
"We know you are worried sick about him! But, for god's sake trust me and feed him the potion!!!" Anna glowered, pressing her palm against his forehead. No, he wasn't responding at all!!
"If he dies inside, it's your responsibility!!" Kyra stated before opening up the bottle.
As David opened Kevin's mouth, she took a deep breath and poured the potion, "Corpus Mutétur." She continued mumbling the spell until the last drop of the 'Fema Corporis' potion fell in his mouth.
The three moved back, mostly startled as Kevin's body started blinking as if it was some AI mod. It soon vapourised like a transparent screen and later vanished, in the next second!
"Holy fuck!" David couldn't help yelp at that transition. His body just boomed out of the scene, and now he understood why mages ruled the hierarchy in their world!
"Now! Do your real job!" Anna commanded standing up and so did Kyra with a sigh!
"Stand by!" She ordered, glaring at stunned David, who nodded getting up from his position. He was falling in for her skills and he couldn't deny it for sure!
"For hell's sake! Make sure I don't regret this!" Kyra murmured running towards the wolf trap they have arranged for the Wendigo. Getting in the center, as David's half of the pack covered her holding weapons, she stretched her fingers.
"Can she really open a portal between two worlds?" David asked, still unsure as he and Anna took their spots, completing a wide defense circle around Kyra.
"Trust me, I have no idea!!" Anna honestly replied, getting her illusion guns through the spell. She was completely weak to even stand and could only handle those fragile yet useful weapons.
"But, yeah, she is the best among us! THE BEST, and we ought to trust her abilities!" She didn't forget to praise her as David took the 'Seite Rocles' weapon. He needed to buy these weapons, he thought looking at his other mates admiring them just like him.
But before they could finish scanning their respective weapons, something else caught their eyes. And it was no one else but Kyra! She had completely broken into her Witch Form and their mouths couldn't hold themselves from gasping out loud.
Kyra's eyes now had slits; two purple lines standing out in her black orbs and they were oddly beautiful and enticing to watch. Her hands, now covered in purple hue as she rotated them to form a purple circle with sparkingly strikes, just distracted them from their jobs.
"Aperiatur porta, consequentia nam portabo," She chanted in Latin, as the circle grew bigger and more attractive, "ianuam aperiatur inter duos mundos impares, ero causa salutis suae!" She continued, louder this time that the circle burst open into a huge portal.
"Let's hope he comes out of it!" Anna prayed as Kyra held that portal, wide open for Kevin to rescue himself at least! She just hoped for Kyra to save her energy. She still needed to do a bigger task, a bigger responsibility of summoning those creatures from the afterlife!
While Inside the Memory Trance!
Kevin got carried away, so lost that he forgot his duty. He looked at the monster, the soul slowly going through his mouth, it was so slow that his heart went thick in his ribs. He had no control over his emotions, nor over himself, that he forgot Anna needed him to think, to develop thoughts that could mirror what was happening inside the trance.
He felt something flowing in his body, his muscles strained, and only then did he come out of his lost world. He looked at himself, then at his hands that felt real and full of skin! And, only then did he realize his job, his duty to convey to Anna when to feed him the potion!
He sighed, realizing that they had given him the potion, and he had now got his body, his real body inside that trance.
"Shit! Shit!!" He cursed, instantly realizing his other half of the job! He got his body, but what about the monster? His time-travel companion? he thought, and that forced him to look straight in terror.
The creature had thrown the girl's body and it was now preparing to run, mostly escape! And that made him sigh out loud. He was glad, he was brought back and given the body at the right time! Absolutely, right time! All he had to do now, was to run, run towards anything purple, and travel out of those past memories into the present world. Of course, with his fellow monster mate!
Taking out the potion in his pocket, he gulped it down quickly. It was a transformation potion, one that would give him the appearance of anyone he wishes to try! And he wished to be the girl now, the dead girl who was at the creature's feat!
He looked at the creature, which was now looking back at him, mainly in confusion. It looked down at the dead body on the ground, and then at the same girl walking towards him now. It shook its head, groaning as the illusion dazed out his vision.
"You want one more snack! Don't you?" Kevin mumbled, nervously taking one step at a time. Ohh, he so wished for Kyra to open the portal soon.
"Dammit, open the portal!!" He cursed her, as the monster shook its head, its skin started to glow finding its alive prey maybe and that freaked the shit out of him.
He stood grounded, sweat tickling his forehead as the Wendigo crawled towards him. It was still confused looking at him, mostly annoyed that it failed to kill its prey! He thought crying inside, was Kyra picking on him again! Oh, he so wished for that to be true!!
Standing a meter away, the creature smelled him, its fangs, yellow and uncleaned ones creeped out of his jaws, saliva gushing out as its disgusting blue tongue rolled out in lust maybe.
"Run Kevin!!" He screamed, turning around and running as it sprang in his direction.
As he ran, he saw a small purple circle forming in front of them, a few meters away. It got wider, throwing purple sparkles as they neared it.
"Ahh, why did you place it so far!!" He cried, running in his direction as the monster almost caught his leg.
He kept running towards that purple portal and luckily, the wendigo followed him thinking he was the girl, but just a step farther and he was betting his life on that portal.
"Kyra, I will kill you!!" He yelled as he all almost felt its claws scratching his shoulders.
He jumped inside that portal which was just a few inches away and so did the culprit, hovering just right on his back.
Kevin yelped and cried as he fell to the ground with a thud. His tears didn't hold back as he felt something bouncing on his back. He turned around, only to shriek out loud as he felt its fangs reached his neck.
Ohh, at least his tombstone would be craved in bold! For the sacrifice, he made in that great mission! That was his last thought, his wish to be precise!
