Chapter 17 - The Mana Core

Sometime after Eden was put in the cell, he began to wake up. Even though it was a VIP cell, it was still a cell. So there was no bed or anything else, it was just a cell where the person was alone and nothing else.

After completely coming to his senses, he noticed that he was still able to see in the dark, even without any light around, and once he began to think about it longer, he remembered that vampires were a race with night vision. However, this was not the time to deal with such insignificant things.

Once he had finished dealing with the useless thought, he began to inspect his surroundings. He was in a room about 8 square meters. However, since the cell was empty, it looked much bigger. Eden also had his arms in the air, handcuffed by what appeared to be chains that could drain mana, leaving Eden empty of MP.

His only way to escape would be to use Poisoned Blood, but he didn't know if one's blood would be powerful enough to melt chains that even seemed to be strong enough to prevent a behemoth from escaping.

Continuing to look around, he noticed that other people seemed to be imprisoned in a cell similar to him. Except for the fact that he was alone in his cell while they were crammed like a flock of sheep. Seeing that there was nothing he could do, he decided to wait.

Wait for someone to come and save him, or wait for something to happen.

However, even after 1 hour, there was still no change. So Eden began to look for what he could do. After several minutes of reflection, he remembered something. He had read in a book that people meditate to develop their powers. That they focused on the middle of their body, that is, just above the navel, before dispersing their energy in their bodies to strengthen it. Once he had the full picture of the process in mind, he began to concentrate. Concentrate to the point where he couldn't even hear the noises of the opposite cell.

Once he was 100% focused, he began to see blue paths going in all directions in front of him, which was probably paths circulating mana through his veins. However, these mana paths were not harmonious, it was a real mess.

So he tried to navigate to the core of his body by following the few channels of mana which was straight. After sailing for what seemed like a good hour through his mana paths, he finally arrived at its core.

When he was close enough to the latter, his field of vision suddenly turned white, which blinded him completely.

'Who is the f*ck puts flashes on every transition? What is your goal damn it.' Eden thought as the colors came back.

Once his sight had returned, he noticed that he was on a kind of gray floating island with nothing at all in it. In the distance, he could see another floating island that was connected to the main island with a bridge, a completely redone that was to his right, and to his left, an island of a color that approached the transparent.

After observing the two islands from afar, he decided to go to the red one. Along the way, he couldn't help but think that the islands might represent the elements he could master red for blood and transparencies for illusions.

When he arrived, he saw that his theory was correct. The island was a solid-state of what looked like blood. After reaching the middle, Eden received a notification that seemed quite strange to him.

[You do not have the qualifications to raise the level of the blood island]

This notification seemed strange to him because he did not think he could improve his "elements". They were supposed to remain the same, and those until the death of the person. And yet, now the system proved him the opposite. In all the things he had read, he had never heard of anything that could improve one's element, like this at least.

Certainly, it was going to be like a plus, but he couldn't help but feel perplexed and have a little pinch in his heart because he thought that if none of this had happened, he would have discovered it in a news story that he would have read with joy.

However, this was not the time for such emotions. His life had changed and he will never be able to go back to his old and enjoy his favorite daily lives. His life had taken a 360 turn and now he wanted to be the one who would write the story and not the one who would read it.

After exploring Blood Island a little more, he decided to turn back to the main island to get out of his mind. He did not even bother to go and see the illusions because it would surely be the same as that of the blood one.

So he began to re-concentrate so that he could go out. However, once he reached 95% concentration, he heard a noise coming from above him. So he opens his eyes, only to see something terrifying. All his mana channels were present just above him.

However, they were not straight as they should be, far from it. They were completely intertwined and all began to erode with each passing moment.

"Just, how is such a thing even possible? I asked to be reincarnated but not in a body that is destroying itself with every passing minute." Eden cursed to himself

He thought they would only be damaged and repair themselves over time given the state his mana paths were in when he was heading towards his core.

However, with the state in which they were, it would be impossible to treat them. And if unfortunately, his channels were to disappear, he would be as good as dead. Certainly, he will still be able to use his blood which is based more on his HP than his MP, but he will never be able to be at 100% of his abilities if this happens. The only possible solution would be to take a reincarnation pill or something like that to fix them, but he had no doubt that this kind of thing was extremely expensive, and that it will not be with his 6 000 gold coins that he will be able to do anything.

After observing them a little more, he theorized that he still had about 1 year before they collapsed completely. He couldn't help but be "happy" to have noticed this thing so early because if it wasn't, he would have simply continued to live his lives until they completely ceased to exist.

Once he had finished observing his canals and bitterly swallowed his saliva for the umpteenth time, he decided to get out of his core of mana. He had not hoped to achieve these results when he decided to meditate, however, he had obtained essential information for him, and especially that his body was extremely ill, which was the greatest of the discoveries.

When he finally came out of his meditation, he noticed that he was completely wet, probably because of his sweating. This made him think that this little trip in his core has burdened his mind quite a bit.

He also noticed movement in the opposite cells. Before taking them somewhere, people who looked like guards began to take future slaves out of their cells. Seeing that no one was coming for him, he decided to take a short nap. His meditation had made him more tired than he had predicted and felt absolutely out of shape for anything.

However, just as his mind was drifting, he heard the sound of his cell opening.

"Oy, wake up we have 30 minutes left before the auction. This is not the time to fall asleep" A man said at Eden while freeing him to take him somewhere.

When Eden heard the man speak, only one thing seemed strange to him. The fact that the auction would start in 30 minutes. If his memories were good, the auction was supposed to start late at night, and he was sure that when he was going to meditate, it was only 8 o'clock according to his internal clock. And yet, now it was 10 p.m. He just couldn't believe his eyes. He had meditated for 14 hours, whereas for him his meditation had seemed to him to last only about an hour or two.

Once free from the wall, Eden and the guard began to walk towards a room that appeared to be a waiting room. When he got, he noticed that he was still alone, which made him smile bitterly. He decided to sit on the chair opposite the door.

However, once seated, a pain he had long forgotten came back. A pain that made him writhe in pain. He was so hungry that he could now eat anything.

However, the thing he wanted most was blood. He didn't know if it was his vampire instinct that asked him, but he wanted to eat more than anything. Unfortunately for him, there was no one around him, and the only thing he could do to relieve the pain was to put himself in a fetal position and wait. To wait for the pain to subside and to wait for someone to take him to the auctions to end this mess that began to drive him crazy.
