Calmly I turn in the air to meet eyes with a familiar old man, "I never thought I would have the displeasure of meeting you again, Lord Shi. It's Lilith Jun now, I changed my name nearly twenty years ago at this point."
My grandfather's smile does not change at my spite-filled words, "I did not think we would meet again, especially under these circumstances."
"And what are 'these circumstances'? I did not think the Demon Emperor would break our treaty so lightly."
"Oh this is not a light decision, this small kingdom is not of any value to your empire. At worst we will need to pay some reparations, but according to the old demon, this is well worth it. The old demon wishes to make you his successor… That is why I am here personally."
Seeing the shock on my face he continues, "Your father and older brother are dead, there is no reason for you to stay here."
My face twists in disgust, "Do not mention those wretches to my face. I have more than enough reason to stay here, to me I see no reason I should accept being the mad Emperor's successor."
His eyes linger on my husband as he speaks, "Is this the reason you won't leave?" my teeth grit at his words as my hand grabs the hilt of my scythe.
His eyes move back to me as he tilts his head, "Or was it that boy earlier?"
*BOOM*
My muscles twitch as the blade of my scythe meets his wooden cane. The knight behind me goes to move but both he and the dragon drop dead without heads as Evald appears out of nowhere standing where they once did in the air.
"So it was my great-grandchild. That is good, I was hoping there was an heir to my family left."
Pulling closer till I'm only a foot from his face I give him a hard gaze, "You will never touch a hair on that boy's head. Evald! Take care of the army, I will deal with this senile old man."
Evald gives me a small smile as he nods, "Of course dear, I will make it quick." Flapping his feathery wings he quickly takes off towards the wall.
"What a talented man you found yourself, upper rank Waning at only 50? I would expect no less from my granddaughter."
With a shove, he easily pushes me back over twenty feet, "He is indeed a talented man. But that is not why I married him…"
"Of course," With a slow hand, Lord Shi pulls the head of his cane revealing a sword within.
'He has yet to show his rank so I must be cautious. If he is immortal like I think then this is my only chance at winning.'
Putting my scythe in my left hand I hold out a hand, "Shatter: Broken Moon."
The sun disappears from the sky as reality around us shatters like giant glass fragments falling to the ground. My domain consumes hundreds of meters around, even taking in what is left of the armies. The sun in the sky is replaced by a moon as the day becomes night I take hold of reality around us.
My grandfather's eyes light up as a mad grin spreads on his face, "AHAHAHAH, I can't believe it! MY granddaughter is the youngest Ninth Circle mage to ever exist! No wonder the Emperor wanted you!"
I don't wait for him to stop laughing and instead close my outstretched hand. The moon far above begins to crack and shatter as slivers begin to fall off. The fragments are miles wide and begin to cover the entire sky as they grow near. Screams begin to ring out from the humans and demons alike as fear grips them.
In front of me, my grandfather stands looking up at the meteors with a wide grin. Seeing he wants to cut it in half I quickly decide to make his life harder. Raising a hand I shatter the meteors into smaller sharper pieces only a few hundred feet in size.
He looks back down at me with a smile only to see my scythe inches from his face. With a speed only a bit faster than me he leans back dodging the blade.
I click my tongue as he creates space between us. My body slowly becomes consumed by black flames and I raise my left hand. A rune on my left hand ignites in a dark light.
"Umbral night," the area around us becomes consumed in shadows that only I can see through.
Much to my surprise his smile never falls off instead he looks incredibly pleased, "You think I need my eyes? Naive."
With a slash, a wave of black and purple flames flies out towards the meteor directly above him. My eyes harden as the meteor is cut into tens of pieces and the fragments fly out in random directions hitting my soldiers along with the demons.
My scythe will never be able to reach him so I place it back in my dimensional storage. Although it is my most powerful weapon it is not the best in this situation. Instead, I grab the two invisible swords on my hips, they are the trump card that I have only used once. The powerful enchantment making them invisible makes them easily the most deadly weapon I have.
Seeing the Demon Lord just waiting for me I sly forward swinging my invisible blades. He joyfully dodges my first slash then the second then the third. The meteors rain down around us destroying the city and demons but always missing the humans. He always manages to find an area where the meteors are not falling but I do not relent.
"Who put this enchantment on your blades? Even I cannot see them, how impressive."
I do not answer as I continue my assault, eventually, he dodges them more confidently. I smile as he narrowly dodges the blade by centimeters.
"Giving me a shave?" He asks dodging a blade.
My eyes narrow as I swing again, this time when he shifts back to dodge I activate the second enchantment lengthening the blade by five inches. I feel the blade make contact with him, blood flies in the air as his white robes are torn and dyed red.
"Guh" He flies back twenty or so feet now with serious eyes. Holding the cut on his shoulder just above his heart he grunts.
"I think that is enough playing."
I ignore his words as I launch at him again ready to swing again, I stop in my tracks as he ignites in a black and purple flame. For the first time I can feel his power, he has indeed reached immortality.
"Shatter: Realm of Penance"
My eyes widen as I feel my domain falling apart, the meteors disappear, and the broken moon vanishes. The light returns to the sky but the sun is dyed red as blood. I can feel my mana recoiling as my realm breaks, I nearly fall out of the sky in pain but I manage to stay up. I wipe the blood from my mouth as I glare at the demon in front of me.
Seeing how nothing is happening in his domain I stare at him oddly, but he smiles. Raising a hand towards the wall I see a figure flying towards us. Before I can see what it is an unconscious Evald is now being held by his throat in my grandfather's hand.
"LET HIM GO!" I yell as I wish to run forward but I don't want him to break Evald's neck.
Grandfath- no, the Demon Lord's face twists to a wicked smile, "Okay."
A dark blue portal opens beneath him as he releases Evald dropping him inside.
"EVALD!" I fly forward to try and get him back but the Demon Lord appears in front of me instantly.
"Look around you, THIS is a domain, remember that."
Seeing the portal behind him close I lose hope, I couldn't save him. Seeing me not obeying him his hand shoots out grabbing my neck. I try to swing my blade at him but I now notice they are no longer in my hands.
He grins as he grabs me by the back of the neck like a misbehaved puppy and turns me around. Around me, I see the thousands of humans and demons are all on the ground shaking and the city is destroyed.
"Every single one of them will die soon. Trapped inside a nightmare created by their own guilt."
"W-why?" I ask struggling to speak through grit teeth.
With a shrug, he meets my side-eye, "Because I feel like it. You will be joining them now, but don't worry, I will make sure my precious granddaughter lives through it."
Gritting my teeth hard I struggle to get the strength to swing a fist at him. My fist stops only an inch from his face as he looks at me with his stupid grin.
"Inside my domain I am GOD."
With hate in my eyes, my vision fades to black.
