Max felt himself adrift in a dark void, his mind running over everything as he could feel his physical body ache but currently he was in the dreamscape. This was a place that Max wasn't sure just yet to access on his own but had a few encounters with, typically he would be able to sit with that fuzzy memory of his mother, remembering her embrace and indulging in the sweet memory of her touch but this time there was nothing. He pouted a bit as he hated these voids, always reminding him of his crossing to this world and the lack of life he once lived. He remembered the void that was once in his heart, ceaseless and empty but since being here... Every day has been an adventure, to work towards something new and experience a new culture or tradition. He seemed to constantly be learning as his spine tingled, a chill running through him as he gulped and looked about to see nothing.
[[You remind me of a friend I once had. To be truthful he was less of a friend, more of an acquaintance though I wished him to be a friend. When I still had a body, when I was still more than just this remnant he was the only one to feed me, my own father, aunts, uncles, and the rest fearful of my being and refused to accept me as their own. But for him? He was brave, he fed me and was more than what his title was...]]
Max could hear the sadness within the disembodied voice as he spied a pair of glowing red eyes within the darkness. Max had a body within this scape but only eyes watched him with a sense that made his skin crawl unlike anything before.
[[The hunger for revenge once had driven me to the point of slaughtering those who call themselves unkillable. In the end, I had gotten myself, my children, and my family dead. Yet the binds that had once held me are no longer. This Nathan, this is your wonderland. A world, unlike the one I came from but houses ones of our past. Reincarnators and Transmigrators. You had just killed one but there are more and all of them will hold a power unlike yours, you hold two things that none other holds. Not to mention the fact that your coming into the world wasn't supervised by either party]]
Max was utterly confused as he gulped, shaking a bit at that sentence as he bit his lower lip at the statement as he looked at the glowing eyes curiously.
"E-Either parties? Are you talking about the fact that I... That I came here without a skill? or be-"
He was cut off quickly by a growl-like noise that seemed to forever echo before a hot puff came from the shapeless eyes.
[[Hold your horses and let me finish Nathan. Transmigrators and Reincarnators are not super rare here, and you heard the man say that he came from much earlier in your world's past than you. Those who are brought here are typically brought here in a grand design or plan, chosen heroes who can change the shape of the world or maybe destroy it. They are brought by the gods or the demons, each one in a constant war but neither have truly pure intentions, some demons even wish to preserve certain things like morals, innocent people, etc. From the smell of that Goblin's blood, he might have had an evil heart but it seems that he was chosen to punish this world some and ward them back to the gods' arms for sacrifice and whatnot. What you did was no easy feat but you may have sown the seeds of greater tragedy and chaos. If you wish to live life your own with little intervention of either party then don't foil or play parts in their schemes. They will draw unwanted attention. Now rise my chosen, Your unique job to start is Primal hunter. Wear this with honor, this is only the first step.]]
Max swore that those eyes pierced his being as his body burned, strength surging within him as a series of dings went off and Tamir chuckled. His head throbbed as he felt his instincts become keener, his hearing seeming to become heightened as well as his other senses growing. Max shuttered as he panted, unbeknownst to him his golden eyes became more pronounced, almost as if glowing. There was so much to take in and so little time but he let the words of meddling sear into his mind as change took root.
{{Skill Evolution: Tracking -> Primal Hunter's Sense; When a hunter has reached the understanding that traditional hunting is flawed and accepts the raw instinctual senses to track and hunt prey. Sends out a ping, comparing the user's senses to the details of the tracks or markings. If the user's senses are better tuned then the more detailed things will become from tracks, animal prints, opponent weak spots, etc.}}
{{ Skill Fusion: Herbology + Primal Hunter's Sense = Animal's Hunt. In-Depth Knowledge of Beastiary + Animal's Hunt = Fighting Style: Instinct Hunt. Instinct Hunt + Elven Hunter's Step = Instinctual Foot Work}}
{{Animal's hunt is when the defining features of a carnivore's ability to track/hunt prey and a herbivore's ability to find suitable plants are combined. This allows for more precise tracking, better analyzing of the environment, and less difficult foraging}}
{{Fighting Style: Instinct Hunt; When the instincts of the user become more fine-tuned with the knowledge of animals, humanoids, and other races. This fighting style is based on knowing the opponent from a species/racial standpoint. This will excel with animals and monsters with predetermined behaviors whereas with humanoids and other races it will take analyzing their fighting style for a certain amount of time depending on the variation and uniqueness of their abilities to fight. Makes hitting weak points and scoring critical/fatal blows easier once properly analyzed. If fighting an unknown the body will fight on the fly with easier improvisational skill}}
{{Instinctual Foot Work; When the instincts of the user become more fine-tuned with the knowledge of animals, humanoids, and other races as well as previously engrained footwork skills. Once Instinct Hunt has properly analyzed opponent(s) then the pattern of attacks will become memorized by the body allowing for split-second movement. The body will also allocate magic and strength as it sees fit through this skill to move, jump and dodge. Though attackers do not have to be seen to avoid attacks or approached their presence must be known about}}
Max was baffled by the sudden new skills that assaulted him as he slowly stood up, gulping and looking towards Tamir's glowing eyes, afraid to even inquire just what visions he had seen when he lost control of his body. He swore he could see a toothy grin from Tamir as the eyes slowly closed and light beckoned him to the waking world.
Max felt cold, wet, and sticky as he slowly sucked in a breath, groaning as he felt well-rested though plenty gross as his face churned with disgust, feeling the mixed blood of the fallen attackers soak into his skin. The blood felt greasy, gross, and made his skin crawl as he shuttered, trying to sling the blood off him as he gathered his sword and blurry thoughts.
He began to feel on his body, not feeling a single wound, no blood of his own. He gulped as he held his sword, it almost feels like a twig in his hands as he steps towards the split body only for his stomach to growl and grumble in protest. He groaned a little as he needed food, wanting to eat after the sudden change in his body but he needed to do something first. He sat up John, gulping as he could see the difference between a normal Goblin and this king. He began to sluggishly hack away at the neck of the corpse, knowing he'd need proof as he held the hed by the oily black hair as he tied it to his belt and began to walk out of the smoldering rubble.
As he turned his back he shook his head and clapped his hands together, causing the remaining structures to crumble as his body demanded food with a sharp pain in his stomach and he hissed. With a huff he held his stomach and pulled out a piece of hardtack, it was bland and tasted so dry but he needed something in him as he finished up and wiped the crumbs from his body, a sigh leaving him as he rubbed the back of his head. Slowly he stretched and took a deep breath, looking off towards where the town they said to meet would be.
Max stepped forward and with a good amount he took off surprised by the speed he had as he took off into the meadow towards Hourton, unsure when he would make it to the town as the dew that had soaked into his skin made the rushing wind have a dreadful bite, the blood clinging to him not helping as he ran through the meadow.
Jesse was worried sick. Of course, a man of his stature would be when in a prison cell. Until the victims of the camp were questioned he was stuck. When he arrived into town in the dead of night, a broken hand atop an Ambush Drake with a cart of battered, bruised and women devoid of soul as if he was a slave trader he was instantly arrested and interrogated. Fortunately for him, Menna and his pack had managed to get away before suffering wounds or anything else but none of them had a sliver of hope that Max had managed to make it out alive.
All Jesse could do was hope as he sat there quietly praying that Max was okay, praying he wasn't dead and everything was fine. He shook as he heard the fumbling of keys and a guard came by.
"Come now Mr. Woh, the captain would like to have a word with you."
Jesse gulped and began to shake some in fear as he fumbled about a bit as he stood up, being led from the stone-walled cell towards an office. He gulped as he was led into the room and the shackles were taken off of him, a small man sitting in a large chair as he smiled at the Gnome with a smile that instilled fear to his core.
"Jesse Woh, a gnomish traveler who owned a caravan with his siblings who were popular chefs no? Last I heard you guys were on the way to Ingstav Harbor to get some sea food but you never made it. Then, early this morning you appear on the outskirts pleading with my men to care for these women and claim that over twenty miles east there was a Goblin Camp that was well hidden that you and another person stormed and destroyed the camp. Oh and the pack of Ambush Drakes, how can I forget, They were escorting you! You were riding one!"
The man chuckles and Jesse has a cold sweat, swearing that he was going to die as the man seemingly relaxes and sighs. He nods then shakes his head finding it difficult to believe.
"I would call you a liar if it wasn't for the fact that I just had five women swear up and down you were telling the truth and you're a hero. I suppose congratulations are in order but until proper definitive evidence is provided I cannot reward your actions."
Jesse sighed and relaxed as he then perked up. He didn't want money, he wanted to be sure Max was okay. He went to speak as the door was suddenly flung open, a panicked guard who looked pale, shaking as he was in a cold sweat.
"S-Sir, something fast is coming across the meadow. T-The city mage they... they wet themselves and got sick when they tried to observe it. T-This thing is scary... The mage says... They say it has the mana of an army Captain Moores..."
The Captain looked towards Jesse with a serious face as he picked Jesse up by the nape with ease, taking him to the city gate as the guards stood ready to fight. Jesse could tell they were all green but the Captain looked excited, scary excited.
Max could see the town just a bit as he stepped it up, getting faster as he gently breathed. Earlier he had felt something spying on him, it was magic in nature so he decided to scare it off by flexing a little bit. This had caused it to fade as he drew closer to the town gate.
