Chereads / The Humans’ Abomination / Chapter 16 - Lost in Blood

Chapter 16 - Lost in Blood

Roaming the facility hallways with no idea where to go to get some information was Cinder with bloody grasp hands.

'Where the hell do I go? Why aren't there any signs in this god-forsaken place!'

Cinder still hasn't come across a single entity with their mind intact or soulless in the screen's case. Coming across another soulless Doctor, Cinder made short work of her before getting a prompt in the form of a new screen.

"Five experience obtained, rank has been updated, your existence has become more prominent."

'What the hell?'

Ignoring the prompt, Cinder kept moving. Coming across another intersection with once again no signs.

"You can not be serious." Cinder said with frustration written across his handsome face.

Cinder was about to punch the wall in anger before a strange sensation came over him, removing his negative emotions and leaving him with a cold heart and mind.

'Instead of wandering around like an idiot, I should follow those soulless creatures; they should lead me to where I want to go.' Making up his mind, Cinder closed his red eyes to help focus his senses. Not even a second later, Cinder could hear a large group of those creatures not too far off. Opening his cold, lifeless eyes, Cinder wandered off in their direction.

Unlike Cinder, Natalie knew where all the exits were, but she also had an angry expression.

"You can't be serious; even exit two isn't functioning." In front of Natale was an elevator that wasn't receiving any power.

Quickly but silently walking away, Natalie made her way towards the final exit; unlike the other two exits, this one was a stairwell, so the power wouldn't be an issue. But there was also a con; her former collages could also access this exit.

'Hopefully, I can still make it.' With hope in her desperate eyes, Natalie made her way towards her only hope of freedom and life.

"Was that the last one?" Asked Victoria while wiping off her bloodied hands on her once grey jumpsuit.

"Looks like it." Said Alina.

"Finally, we can get back on track, now where is he?" Closing her eyes, Victoria tried to sense Cinder's location. After one minute, Victoria opened her eyes, looking in a specific direction.

"Where is he going?"

"He's probably trying to find a way out, don't you think?" Said Alina.

"Maybe, but why isn't he coming to us? He should be able to feel our presence. Whatever, let's keep following him. Maybe he can't sense us."

The two girls started to run at inhuman speeds in Cinder's direction. Along the way, they came across a couple of doctors and scientists.

"Is this karma?" Said Victoria before readying herself for an attack.

"Probably." Alina said while also preparing herself just in case anything went awry.

Before the two soulless doctors could even lunge at the two women, their skulls were crushed, spraying brain matter and blood across Victoria's hands, with a look of disgust across her beautiful face. Victoria threw the now motionless doctors across the hallway, closing a chapter in their lives.

After a moment of silence, Victoria and Alina began to move towards Cinder's location once more; not even once did they glance back.

After another thirty minutes of dodging her ex collages, Natalie finally made it to the third exit, but to her dismay, the stairwell was blocked by a group of soulless nurses and doctors. There was no way Natalie could maneuver her way without being noticed and killed. Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, Natalie didn't even notice she was being followed by something even more dangerous than those soulless creatures.

"Well, aren't you in quite the predicament? Hehehehe."

Natalie quickly turned towards the chuckling voice to see Cinder covered in blood with a sinister smile plastered across his charming face. Before Natalie could speak, her neck was grasped by Cinder while he slowly raised her into the air. Unbeknownst to Cinder, he might have a fetish with necks.

Looking at Cinder's joy written face Natalie knew she was bound for unspeakable pain if she didn't somehow appease this monster. Trying her best to speak only to become mumbled and incoherent words, even Cinder didn't know how much strength he was putting into his hand, but if he checked his stats, he might have a clue.

"...Sorry, I just couldn't help myself." Cinder said before releasing his grip around Natalie's neck, letting her fall harshly towards the cold metallic floor.

Coughing uncontrollably, Natalie tried to catch her breath.

"Now that we understand our positions, I'll ask you some questions that need to be answered. Do I make myself clear?"

"Cough, cough, crystal."

"Good, first question.....

"Finally, he stopped moving." Victoria said with slight annoyance in her voice.

"I wonder what he found for him to stop?" Said Alina in a curious tone.

"Who knows, but we'll soon find out."

Both girls were sprinting down the halls before coming across another pack of soulless scientists.

"Here we go again, Alina; how far are you from level two?"

"Give me a sec," said Alina before pulling up her status screen and checking her experience points," it says I need twenty-five more experience points to level up."

"Alright then, you take the five on the left, and I'll take the six on the right."

"Gotcha!"

"Ready, set, and go!"

Making short work of all the soulless scientists, Alina leveled up.

"I can't get over this feeling." Feeling her strength, speed, and stamina increase, Alina couldn't get over the feeling of euphoria.

"Me too; this status screen and levels make this all feel like a video game, but with higher stakes. I wonder why this is all happening?" Said Victoria in a questioning tone. "But now's not the time; we have to go get Cinder and escape before anything else."

With nothing blocking the women's path, they continued their journey towards Cinder with endless questions filling up their heads. Finally, closing in on Cinder's location, they happen to notice another group of soulless beings, and not too far was Cinder with Natalie's head under his foot.
