Chapter 534 - Bunbun's Battle

Even after defeating a troublesome opponent, he did not spend any time thinking about them.

His mind was always back toward the things he had been using and back toward discovering what made them work the way they did.

Perhaps that was what made him so good at what he did as an inventor.

He had a one-track mind when it came to trying to understand how certain things worked whether it was taking things apart and putting them back together.

Once he understood everything, he couldn't help but think about other ways that they could be used and put together in different ways.

It was that kind of curiosity and creativeness that let him grasp a lot of Dial Technology at a very young age and be able to pick up many more things just as advanced ever since he joined the White Storm.

The moment that he felt safe, he went back to his tinkering as if there was not a single worry that remained.

There seemed to be no doubts in his mind about how the others were faring with their opponents almost like he trusted in them all completely.

Just as Ashwin was finishing his fight and moving on to study the newly obtained tools and weapons, the fight involving Bunbun and the other alien was still happening.

The barrier that was up kept holding up as the alien kept being pushed mentally.

Each movement of Bunbun was too fast to keep track of even for someone with such powerful psychic powers that could help sense and predict the movements of someone like Bunbun.

The main problem that they had come across had always been that they were unable to keep up with her high-speed movements.

The physical prowess that she showed far outranked anything that their psychic abilities could help achieve.

The response time needed was simply not enough to be able to catch Bunbun before she moved to another position.

Each time that the psychic energy moved to grab onto her, the afterimage that had been left behind began to disperse.

The more that Bunbun evaded the psychic energy, the less often it was used to capture or harm her.

Everything used in the present had become mainly focused on defence and maintaining the barrier.

More and more cracks appeared in many different parts of the barrier as they soon began to connect and splinter further.

The psychic barrier broke apart revealing the figure of the alien that had become vulnerable.

Bunbun noticed that it had broken and saw her chance so she disappeared once again as her approach with almost flawless.

Multiple afterimages were created and no noise was produced with each step that she took.

She closed in and went in for the kill as she appeared behind the alien with her claw raised.

Draconic claws and scales had formed over her arms as her body had been in a transformed state allowing her to exert even more power.

The claw came tearing through toward the back aimed at the heart of the alien but her eyes widened all of a sudden. "Huh?"

Her body froze just a moment before she was able to land the killing blow and it felt like something had wrapped around her body holding her in place.

The figure of the alien did not move as they kept concentrating and making use of the remains of their psychic power. "That was risky... but worth it."

A large portion of the psychic power had been reserved as a final means of fighting while the rest had already been put toward the barrier.

The tactic used was to let Bunbun break down the barrier.

Only then would her next movements become a little more predictable.

Anyone who was allowed to strike and end things would take it.

If they wanted to end things quickly then there were few places to attack from and similarly fewer places to strike.

That limited the options available and the patterns of movement that Bunbun would take so it mainly came down to how well they could focus on their psychic senses while a small portion was thanks to luck.

Luck seemed to be on the alien's side as they were able to capture Bunbun just in time to save themself.

What came next was that several weapons activated as they flew up into the air under the control of the psychic alien.

The last traces of power were being used to contain Bunbun who struggled with all that she had to release herself while the other portion was put toward controlling the lighter objects.

Several lightsabers went flying toward Bunbun as they hit her body. "Ouch!"

The tough scales from her Faerie Dragon Devil Fruit form and body she had built up through training protected her causing the damage to be reduced.

What helped just as much was that she had put up her Armament Haki in time to protect herself in the areas that were hit.

Perhaps if she did not protect herself and did not have her Devil Fruit then the lightsabers may have penetrated her body very quickly but she had been able to survive.

The lightsabers kept being pushed toward her as they threatened to pierce through her scales and Armament Haki.

It became a battle of whose powers could hold out the longest.

Would Bunbun be able to protect herself or would the enemy's psychic powers no longer be able to last?

Her eyes widened in fear as she remembered how she had failed previously and had been scolded by Alyssia.

It was then that she grew determined to never lose again and to never be so careless.

That was when she fully devoted herself to the hell training and sparring that Alyssia put her through.

Time seemed to flow backwards as if all of that had not happened yet the memory of it all remained fresh in her mind.

Bunbun was just going in for the kill from behind when the psychic energy grabbed at her body.

Her body broke apart the moment that it was met with that force causing an afterimage to be in the place where she was supposed to be caught.

It all happened in an instant that all of that took place but that small instant decided the entire fate of the battle.

Bunbun stood off to the side with her draconic claws that were soaked in the blood of her enemy.

Her back was turned away from them before turning her head to watch what took place next. "Sorry-teia but this Bunbun ain't getting caught in your little trap."
