Chapter 514 - Egghead

Alyssia was the first to step off the MMA that had been docked on the edge of Egghead Island.

Her arms stretched out as if taking in all of the sights and other things around her. "Aaah! How wonderful!"

Nica narrowed her eyes as she followed closely behind. "This place looks quite cool. This should be quite a fun place like you said."

Her creativity and willingness to learn had been triggered by the various things she saw before her eyes.

Ein pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose adjusting them. "As expected of Dr Vegapunk! Dr Tsukimi would have loved to come here."

If there was anyone who looked up to Dr Vegapunk very highly then it was Dr Tsukimi and Ein who was his student.

Ein was very happy to be able to be given the chance to step onto the island that Dr Vegapunk had been developing but she felt a little sad that her mentor could not do the same.

Tristan looked around with eyes filled with curiosity. "Mmm… this place does seem different. The people here look to be in high spirits and great health."

Tristan was very surprised to see that the physical conditions and mental conditions of the citizens seemed to be healthy and without any telltale signs that there were any abnormalities present on the island.

It seemed far different to St Poplar where she had been staying when she opened her clinic there at first, there was never a short supply of people who had some form of physical problem or were suffering from serious mental troubles.

Tristan had to play various roles from doctor, surgeon, and even therapist so that she could try to reduce the poor state of the citizens there.

Meanwhile, in other locations that they explored, identical versions of Bartolomeo Kuma were dressed in futuristic police uniforms as they wandered the busy streets.

The streets were busy with a wide variety of different races who looked quite serious and dedicated.

Some had very scholarly appearances and they even wandered around with a notepad writing down some notes while others carried around a book they were reading.

Other people wore lab coats while others seemed to be dressed like ordinary citizens.

Some were working in stores selling goods and providing the island with a feeling of normalcy while others were much more busy as they were immersed in their studies or were working on an important task.

All kinds of futuristic technology were present on the streets and the architecture was very advanced too.

Many areas caused Alyssia, Nica, Tristan, and Ein to feel like they had entered a futuristic world quite different from the one they had been living in.

Even Alyssia was very surprised by some of the things she had seen.

She may have had her system to help her gather some knowledge and skills that could present some clues about the island but it was still a very tiny portion of what had been in front of her eyes.

What excited her the most was the high quality of knowledge and skills that were gathered together in one place.

Her red eyes began to gleam with excitement and her tongue licked her lips as if salivating over something delicious. 'System, I think that it is time for a refresh of the skills I have purchased."

The screen flashed suddenly as many rectangular screens kept appearing and overlapping one after another as the system began selecting targets nearby.

The skills were zoomed in on as they were identified by each one individually before being compared to the progression Alyssia had in them.

If her purchased skill level was not enough then it would only collect what was within that level of purchased mastery she had or what level of mastery she had reached.

Using that method, Alyssia was able to collect a vast amount of knowledge and skills from each person around her without needing to spend a single point.

The only issue with using that method was that she was unable to collect anything else that she had not already purchased and raised to a certain mastery.

Some skills and knowledge would not be available to her unless she spent her points on it.

There were probably some useful skills that were available but Alyssia did not want to waste her hard-earned points so easily.

If she wanted to spend them then she would only spend enough on the beginner or basic skills while upgrading those that needed to be upgraded after having their current ranking maxed out with no more room for improvement.

The skills she was most interested in were not those of the citizens but the vast amount of knowledge and experience collectively gathered would be a huge advancement for her system as it would be studied and compiled by it.

The group of four continued to wander around taking in the sights around them while asking some questions to some of the citizens.

What they were able to learn was that Egghead Island was a meritocracy-ruled island.

Unlike other islands that granted status and positions based on birthright and other factors, Egghead Island was run in a way that merit and achievements were what helped people gain positions worthy of their abilities.

Upon hearing such a thing, the four of them were very excited since it would allow them to settle on the island more easily.

There could be some talented people on the island but that did not stop them from being able to learn more and try to surpass those people.

It could be said that the four of them had areas where they may have excelled far more than others on the island but they did not have the same vast resources and environment to fully bring it out.

Alyssia clicked her tongue in annoyance as she sighed. 'So this is what it is like to receive the full support of the World Government. So much progress…'

She couldn't help but lament about how much trouble it was for her people to keep securing funds for her.

As she was thinking such things to herself, there was suddenly a loud beeping ringing out in her mind. 'What the..'
