Chapter 481 - Warlord

News began to spread around the world about the new deal that had been made between the World Government and the White Storm but actually it was more related to Alyssia.

While the White Storm did gain some privileges and support, they did not have any obligation to do anything that was ordered of them unless it was in the form of some kind of exchange or paid task.

Many were wondering what enticed Alyssia to come to such a decision among the things offered to her.

What Alyssia was given was a very high up position that was rarely offered to anyone.

It was one that was usually only reserved for the most talented people or criminals that the World Government wished to keep under their influence.

Alyssia had been offered the opportunity to become a Warlord but the duties involved with it only extended to her.

Everyone else was free from carrying out anything that was asked of Alyssia unless it was something Alyssia decided they should take part in or if they volunteered themselves.

Since it was Alyssia that was in the position of a Warlord, she would not need to pay heavy tributes that could be demanded from the World Government and she was able to make use of the Red Line.

It meant that Alyssia could pass through the Red Line without taking the difficult routes and could arrange for others to pass through even going as far to get a discount for what should be expected to be paid for moving goods across the Red Line.

For anyone doing business on the Grand Line, the Red Line was a major thorn in anyones side that halted most businesses growth.

Anyone that ventured into one half of the Grand Line would have to either abandon their past businesses so they could focus on one half entirely or they would have to deal with the major difficulties involved with having their business split between the Red Line itself.

They would have difficulties with transportation of goods since they would have to pay heavy amounts of Berries just to transport goods across from one half to the other while still having to pay for each person that would pass through.

Only those that were privileged enough would be able to step onto the Red Line without having to pay anything and Alyssia had gained that privilege for herself and the White Storm.

Even a major entertainment city on the sea under Gran Tesoro was subject to having to make large payments to the World Government so the position that Alyssia had gained had saved the White Storm from having to face such losses regularly once it became big enough to be coveted by the World Government itself.

It was also beneficial since it was much easier to set up new branches within any of the World Government affiliated islands without needing to worry too much about there being a major backlash from those that would not welcome her presence.

Having the status of a Warlord was something she intended to make full use of.

Despite her being so powerful and full of ambition, Alyssia was just a big softie inside who wanted to give others under her a better environment to grow in for the time being.

The two year time-skip period had yet to come to an end so she needed a way to provide an extra layer of protection over them while moving some of her plans forward.

The position of Warlord was one which was very important for that since not many would be willing to mess with the things belonging to the Warlords who were affiliated with the World Government.

The position itself would not last too long since Alyssia was very aware that the Warlords would be abolished in the future.

Anything she was supposed to do would only last until then and then she would be completely free from their grasp.

If she decided to go independent then it was still possible but for the time being, it was better to follow the example of Blackbeard so that she could act under the cover of the World Government within the confines of the law.

The main difference was that she was not going to carry out some major backstabbing operation like him just so that she could free up a couple of potential crew members or to gain a Devil Fruit power from someone.

Alyssia began her preparations after having many parts finalised then returned on her journey stopping by Zou to see her parents and two children once again.

Meanwhile within different parts of the Grand Line, many influences began to be informed of the new Warlord that was Alyssia Lucine.

Since the news of it became public, the World Government no longer held back her achievements that were previously hidden.

It was in their best interests to bring everything to light so they could make it even more dramatic and exciting that they could get Alyssia to take up a position as a Warlord.

Alyssia was busy on Zou running around chasing Xena and Yao who had grown a little since she had been away.

There was a feeling of relaxation and happiness within Alyssia after a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

There was no longer that feeling of needing to rush and always pushing herself anymore in order to survive and protect what was hers.
